This is a long one but definitely needs to be addressed. I had been selected as a candidate to be a facialist at esme. I came in and we discussed wage, a time to come in and do her pedicure. The email I recieved about the pedicure said no judgement and to just do my own work. I haven't done professional pedicures in over a year as I am a clinical esthetican specializing in hair removal and facial treatments. She was well aware as per my resume and our hour long interview process. The email also stated Kaylee the "manager" would be sending over my contract. She kept pushing this off during the service I provided her and I let it go as the owner was in Mexico and thought she had some details to finish up. Kaylee gets me to come in for a 3 hour shadow where I consistently asked for my contract and was pushed off. At the end of the shadow Kaylee said she would send over my contract that day. I didn't hear anything until I called 2 days later. She said yeah, I'll be sending it. The same excuse I kept getting. I called again after I recieved an email stating they were not hiring me. I asked for compensation at the price we discussed since I had spent over 6 hours of my time performing services on her feet and "shadowing". I was immediately greeted with hostility and her saying they would send an etransfer as per alberta law. It's been 2 weeks now and I have recieved nothing from them. I wrote this review originally on Google and they wrote a slanderous review about my character, my previous employer and bullied me out of trying to get paid for my time and energy being wasted. Kaylee wrote a huge Google review that shows ESME's character. I think they routinely do this as Google and yelps differences are dramatic. They pay their staff 15$ an hour I am not sure why she would get me to shadow when my rates are higher than that. Some of the comments she had left about me after knowing me for approximately 6 hours has personally effected me and my want to continue in this industry. I am honestly thinking of seeking a lawyers advice since I was never compensated and I was slandered on a platform which has inhibited my income. Please think and consider how they treat their employees before supporting a business. read more

I had a wax with Anne Guan. She waxed over the same area so many times that it took off a couple layers of skin. I am now getting an infection due to the lack of care and attention to detail. Very disappointed in the treatment and understand the lower price point of this salon. read more

Had a wonderful facial with Rachel on 50% off Fridays. I just moved to Calgary and my skin was revolting. She took time to understand my concerns. She was very thorough with her facial and hand and head massages. She didn't try to sell me unnecessary products (as any other place I have been to) and started me on a simple regimen to see the effects. I am going back in 6 weeks after following her instructions so that we can analyze my skin. Love this warm and cozy place. Oh! After Misty left the services really went downhill :( some of the staff has a bad attitude too. Honestly the quality doesn't match the price and for me when people aren't nice as well - what's the point? It is too bad they don't have a better booking system, appointments can be accidentally lost, overlapping, or deleted. I have had to re-book a few times because of this. They should consider hiring a good administrative assistant, or using a different booking program. They do have delicious popcorn though ! read more

Amazing cozy location in the city, just enjoyed a mani pedi on the patio... Novel idea. Good service, a nice selection of hot or cold beverages offered complementary. I recommend it for relaxing me time. read more

I actually enjoyed my first Brazilian. I was so scared because I had heard some waxing horror stories but this was 100% pain free I had such a nice chat with my esthetician I actually just enjoyed by time there. As a disclaimer I should note that I had laser hair removal done previously so there wasn't a lot to wax but I was still nervous about the whole process and the staff at Esme made me feel super welcome and comfortable. 10/10 would recommend. read more

I had a mani here today. $25 Mani Monday cost me $38, an extra $10 to take off shelac on a few nails. I had to tell the lady to shorten a few of my nails although it was quite obvious she should have anyway. I thought the mani was mediocre. My friend had a gift card. When she paid for her $25 Monday Mani they lady at the til couldn't figure out how to subtract $25 from her gift card and was very concerned whether her gift card included tip. I don't know what is so AMAZING about this place. Paid for parking in the front and my friend paid for parking in the back. Over priced for what you get - including Mani Monday. read more

So beyond disappointed with the professionalism of this establishment. The very first time I walked in to Esme I felt unwelcome. Everybody stares at you as you walk in. I got not a single smile, staff look at you as if you're lost, they don't greet you and make you feel welcome at all. I got a manicure with a gel overlay and my nails were completely destroyed. I figured because I had been having such a hard time finding a place for nails I would give it another shot with another nail tech. My second visit I had the same greeting, very unwelcoming. However my gel fill was so much better, she acknowledged the horrible job done previously and I really saw a change in the quality of work, so I was impressed to rebook with her. I rebooked to have another gel manicure two weeks ahead with the same girl, but when I got my confirmation a couple of days prior the name of the nail tech was changed. I was 100 percent confident that I did not make the mistake of booking with someone else so I decided to call and see what happened. When I called they acknowledged they changed the nail tech on me. They did not call and ask if it was ok, they didn't not call to ask if I could rebook. They went ahead and changed my service at their own will. read more

My sister and I went for facials this evening and we had the best time. We were greeted warmly by the front host, offered tea and then only had a short wait time before our appointments. Our estheticians Meg and Sara were fantastic, friendly and extremely professional. I enjoyed the experience so much, my esthetician was Meg, that I was sad when it was over. My skin has never felt better and I can't wait till my next appointment. Oh and I forgot to mention: on Fridays all facials are 50 per cent off -- amazing! read more

My friend and I got manicures on two for one Tuesday. I was very unimpressed by the manicurist (Sarah) as she was very rude and inappropriate. Firstly, did not ask what nail polish I wanted and scoffed when she had to get the proper colour. Secondly, she complained about her coworkers in front of us which was very unprofessional. And thirdly, she did not say a single word to me and when the manicure was done she got up and left. The only positive I can say is she did a decent job painting my nails. Additionally, two for one Tuesdays is falsely advertised. They don't tell you until you go up to the till to pay that it is not actually two for one. It is buy one and get one (under $30) free. So instead of paying for one manicure for my friend and I, I had to pay double... I was also not offered a second service free after having to pay for a full price manicure. I will never be back. I'd recommend working on your customer service and not advertising false promotions. read more
