Context: I do not normally get gel manicures but I wanted one so I would stop picking my cuticles. I chose this place and went for a gel manicure early in July. Once my cuticles had healed (3 weeks ish), I wanted that gel removed because I wanted natural nails. I also noticed that the tech had filed off a lot of my sidewalls during the gel application, so I did not want another gel manicure. Therefore, I asked to have a regular clear coat manicure on natural nails. When I got to the appointment I asked for my manicure to be soaked off, to which the tech said filing instead. I kept asking for the gel to be removed via soak-off as I did not want any more drilling to my nails beds. Finally, after the tech removed some of the gel top layer she then placed acetone foil wraps on my fingers for less than 3 minutes. This was the "soak-off." After that short acetone exposure, the tech then proceeded to drill off the gel which I had already expressed several times that I did not want. I felt that she was over drilling because I could feel the discomfort. I told her to be gentle because I have sensitive nails. The tech does not appeared to be trained in natural manicures. The nails were not buffed out properly, and the edges were filed with a coarse grit. A clear coat was slapped on quickly and haphazardly. When I left the salon, my nails were catching on everything I would touch and the shape was poorly done. Needless to say I was angry for dropping $50 on this manicure. I went home, removed the clear coat and saw there was a lot of gel still left on my nail. I proceeded to buff, cut, file and shape my own nails. I could tell that the cuticle area was overfiled. I waited 10 days to see if my nail bed was damaged. And they are on several nails with obvious ridges and redness. The tech was very resistant to switching to a natural manicure during our appointment, trying to convince me to do another gel manicure. I understand that gel means repeated customer. But I 100% would have returned to this establishment if the natural manicure was done well. It appears that they lacked the skill and training to safely do a soak off removal or natural manicure.

I decided that for my most recent trim of the hair I would go back to Miracles. And they were exactly how I remembered them. The prices are a little high, but the quality is great. Every stylists at the salon looks very professional with up-to-date, modern, funky hair styles. It's always reassuring to have your hair cut by someone who has a nice 'do themselves. I find the atmosphere at Miracles to be quite relaxing. It looks extremely classy inside, yet doesn't portray a snooty, stuck-up vibe. I like that the sinks you have your hair washed in has a little pad for you to rest your neck on. It's a refreshing change from the usual ceramic or plastic grooves other places have. Not only is that nice, but the chairs you sit in extremely comfortable. My butt didn't even ache when I was finished with the trim. Returning to Miracles after a couple of years makes me wonder why I ever left. My stylist was super nice and she did a fantastic job on my hair!

There is lots of dark wood and warm earthy/orangy colored walls. It's really nicely done. I booked an hour massage with a Japanese lady named Mio. It wasn't more than a few minutes before Mio came out and she showed me to the back area where the massage rooms are. We passed the pedicure room which I'm thinking I will come back to check out. The room I had my massage was one of the larger rooms and was welcoming and I felt very comfortable. I recall a couple of candles were lit, too. Mio was very attentive and my massage was the right amount of pressure for my liking. There was music playing over the loudspeaker which was relaxing. Some places play music that gets on my nerves (rather defeats the purpose of the massage) but this was exactly what I liked. An hour goes by so fast when you're relaxed. I think Miracles is a hidden gem. The place is actually quite large. There's an entire hair salon on one side. The other side has the pedicure room, manicure stations, massage & esthetics rooms. The offer pretty much everything you would want in a salon and spa. I will for sure return to check out more.

I felt very rushed out of there. with my schedule, I usually book an hour before I close at nail salons and I thought that I would have enough time as they usually do a cleanup. They wanted me out of there so quick they all stood around, watching me get my nails done waiting for the gentleman to be finished doing them which I didn't love having everyone hanging over me.Than they all left together, while I waited outside in the cold for my ride to come because they risked me out. They did not mop they did not clean the tables. They did not thank me. They were very uninviting for it being my first time.. the price was good, but I will not be going back. Customers are very observant. Especially in an atmosphere that they are used to. Please make sure you are cleaning your tools, tubs and tables and floors. Mint's location is far from where I live ( the SE), but I will take time out of my day to drive there because their service is superb. I had just sat down & was pushing up my sleeves & she was already rudely & roughly grabbing at my hands. No water to soak the hands in, she just grabbed my hands and started scraping away on the dry nails & cuticles, even using a grinder on them. There was no towel on the plastic arm rest so it felt cold & slimy after she applied lotion to my arms. I asked for a towel for it but she simply wiped the plastic and left it wet. I asked, "Could you please dry that?" She did after I asked her to. No sense of client comfort, no sense that this is supposed to be pleasurable for the client. She did everything roughly, rudely and with resentment. She made one of my cuticles bleed. Never mentioned it, never said sorry. At the end of the manicure she applied a lot of oil to my cuticles, and declared I was ready to go. Oil on the cuticles is much appreciated but this was all over my fingers. I asked for something to wipe the excess off because I didn't want to get it on my clothes. She resentfully handed me a small square of paper towel which I made do with. I am elderly, closer to 80 than to 70, and as I struggled a bit to get my vest on, trying not to damage the manicure or get any remaining oil on the vest, she stood and watched me. She even yawned once. No move to help me on with it. Just a cold stare while I struggled. Needless to say, I left no tip and I will not ever go back there again in spite of the fact it is 5 minutes from my house, and I have gone there for several years. I will drive across the city before I ever put up with that kind of disrespectful, mean, rude treatment again.
