I'd always hoped to experience the benefits of meditation that I would read about, but just…read morecouldn't a find a practice that truly resonated with me. After dipping my toe in a variety of techniques I stumbled upon Meditate--and I am so thankful I did! The format is extremely user-friendly and has allowed me to create a lasting meditation practice. Not only do the teachings ring true for me, but the weekly class format, Andrew's accessibility, group discussions, and opportunities to learn more all create the perfect foundation to have meditation become a permanent part of my life. I've love the classes--and the changes I am experiencing-- so much that I've taken Level 1, Guided Visualization, and am now in Level 2. I am so grateful to have such a powerful tool at my fingertips and a teacher that is supportive of the path and process every step of the way. I can now attest to all of the amazing benefits that meditation provides. I am calmer, happier, more focused, and able to communicate more clearly. I am so happy to finally call myself a meditator and to be learning somewhere that supports living life to its fullest!

It is a 12 week course where Andrew carefully helps build the foundation that you'll use to explore meditation and the tools you will use to calm the mind and find peace and answers from within. If you are committed (at least practice 4-5 times a week and finish the course) and you have an open mind, you will absolutely feel and see the positive impact that meditation has had on your life through this 12 week course. Andrew does an incredible job of teaching everyone the building blocks they need. He is not pushy in the sense that one way is better than the other. He is open to all experiences, whatever works for you. He is non-judging and very encouraging when you do have those break throughs. I can't speak more highly of his teaching ability, the class and meditation as a whole. I have now signed up for the Level 2 course as I have only scratched the surface of this awesome journey and can't wait to see where the next lessons take me. If you are looking to get into meditation, look no further. Even my husband has seen how much calmer and more peaceful I am :)

I seems as if they keep the equipment on the floor just to make it seem full. The staff told me they are getting new equipment in a few weeks but what the heck am I supposed to do until then? The only real thing I see coming of use is maybe a class if I can (not the reason I joined), or the pool. And the pool is already booked out for classes and whatnot so the adult swim or family swim is only a half hour block...usually when I'm at work. I cancelled my membership on the spot and am mad at myself for wasting money on this sorry establishment.

The original downtown Summerville location of the YMCA has a pool and sauna, gymnastics facility…read morewhich the Ponds location does not have. I am partial to this location because it is the one I grew up with- I took gymnastics here. I'm pretty sure the gymnastics facility is exactly the same as it was 20+ years ago when I attended. The best part about this gym (now that I'm an adult) and location is the child watch- it is open 7 days a week. So, if you have kids, you can work out every day almost all day long (2 hour limit). M-F the child watch is open from 8-8, Saturdays from 8-1, and Sundays i think from 12:45-3:45. It seems like a lot of gyms in the area either don't offer childcare or if they do the hours are really limited. There are many different classes offered as well as fitness coaches/trainers if you want that. There are two cardio rooms, a small one with just a few machines and a larger one upstairs with maybe 10 treadmills, a handful of bikes and I think a couple of ellipticals. I typically come here a few days/week with my two littles, drop them off at the daycare, then go running through downtown Summerville (you are required to stay on the campus while you have your kids in the childcare unless you are going on a run in which case I think you just leave them with your cell phone # and then off you go) or I do strength training in the weight rooms. Like every gym this one gets busy from around 4-7 so you may have to fight a fellow 9-5er for a parking spot and then a machine. After 7 the teenagers usually come out for their daily bulking/mirror staring sesh. During the daytime you can almost always find a machine easily since the people that come are typically SAHMs and older people coming in for either pool time or the daytime fitness classes. During the weekdays this location is very popular with older people, they like to come hang out in the community room and chit chat and sometimes play ping pong. The social scene here for 55+ is pretty poppin. Happy sweating!
