If they can review Christian Bale on Yelp then we can review Blue Bloods. It's a really good show if you take it just for what it is which is a cop show. However the morality and politics involved are not so good. It's an extremely Republican show and even though it occasionally tries to balance things out like Law and Order tries to do, it always represents left-wing points of view as simple-minded and naive and sometimes even downright malicious and irresponsible. It always represents right-wing points of view as understandable and normal and sympathetic. Cops are heroes and rarely have bad intentions. Despite this if you take all politics out of it it's a watchable show and me giving it such a high rating should be proof that I don't have bias against things just because they are extremely right wing - and when I say extremely I mean ex-treme-ly. For example this show paints black lives matters as an unnecessary petty overblown campaign by people with agendas. It does not paint cops anything like the ones we have been seeing in the news in real life. There are two sides to every story, but this show tells one side of the story much more convincingly than the other, and belittles the other side constantly. The acting by Republican stalwart Donnie Wahlberg is excellent and he's very watchable. Bridget Moynahan is gorgeous and a great actress. Her daughter is really pretty and a fun character. Jamie Reagan sometimes steals the show as the unheralded youngest brother. Tom Selleck brings it all together with his excellent portrayal of the commissioner. I checked out the studios where they film this stuff in Greenpoint. It was pretty cool. Being an actor seems like a glamorous life but having visited their place of work, it's really just a warehouse in the industrial back streets on the Brooklyn-Queens border. Still sounds like lots of fun.

I do wish the Food Network would reduce (or better yet eliminate entirely) the amount of "competition" shows and game shows. I've been pleased with most Food Network branded products I have bought over the years and have enjoyed most of the Food Network books I have purchased, especially "The Food Network Test Kitchen Cookbook!" I loved Chef Robert Irvine's "Restaurant Impossible," and "Dinner Impossible" and was absolutely elated when Restaurant Impossible made over a restaurant in my county called "The Main Dish." We couldn't wait to visit the restaurant after the makeover and it was really good, especially for the small town it was located in, Meridianville, Alabama. Other chefs I enjoy are Ree Drummond, Ina Garten, and I like some of Giada De Laurnetiiis' recipes. Who can forget Food Network's sister channel, "The Cooking Channel" that airs/aired fun shows like "Bitchin Kitchen" with Nadia G., "Extra Virgin" with Debi Mazar, and my favorite, Bobby Deen's "Not My Mama's Meal." Chopped has always been a favorite of mine, along with all the competitive chef cook offs and Giada's cooking shows. There's just something about watching talented chefs think on their feet and create amazing dishes under pressure that pulls you in every time. In my early 20s, it was definitely my go to. Whether I was relaxing, looking for inspiration, or just had it on in the background while cooking, Food Network was always playing. It actually helped me grow in the kitchen...learning new techniques, flavor combinations, and getting creative with what I had on hand. I also love the variety of shows they offer. From high level competitions to simple, everyday recipes, there's something for everyone no matter your skill level. It's not just entertaining, it's motivating...especially if you love food or work in the culinary world. Even now, I still find myself tuning in. I first heard about the Fuse studios back in 2003 or 2004, I attended the television show called IMX. This is what the show was about: n attempt to "extol the fun of the stock market," players would sign up online and be given a set amount of "IMX dollars" in order to buy stocks in artists, albums, videos, and TV offerings, which could be traded and sold short or for profit online. With such profits, players could win prizes like video game consoles, vacations, surfboards. -lets say if G-Unit just came out and the stock was the IPO of the day, you could buy at $40 using your IMX dollars on the IMX dollars on the computer but you knew right away, something like this would skyrocket into the heavens because they were getting popular. The hosts were really cool and they interact with the crowd. They played videos as the crowd is there in the studio. -Also years later, also attended a show called The Daily Download. Same hosts as the IMX days but different format all together, more TRL, mtv stlye. -It was very cool though, crowds would get a very intimate feel in the studio and mix and mingle with the various studio guests from music, tv and movie industry. I had met and interacted with many stars including Motley Crue Drummer Tommy Lee, Damon Dash (kind of an asshole in person to everyone), Jonathan Davis from KORN, Slipknot, Jada Pinkett Smith, Flyleaf, Chad from Mudvayne, Michelle Trachtenberg, Dania Ramirez, Paris Hilton, Young Jeezy, Ludacris, 30 seconds to mars, and many others. I enjoyed the show alot. I must have been on there for 2 years straight as a regular guest. The show ended in late 2006 at least the live audience part. -The crowd was sometimes offered dvd releases that were new for the week, Sneakers giveaways just for yelling a screaming on television and various contests like would you want to go on tour with said band (one time it was Mondo Diao). I don't know how I did not take them up on that offer to go around Europe with the band. That's right, my 5 year old was obsessed with the round-the-clock hurricane watches over the Caribbean, Oklahoma tornadoes, and blizzards in Wyoming. When we set up the channels on the converter box, we discovered qubo (small q), a kids channel not offered by our satellite service. Personally, I've opposed the idea of him watching the trashy, immature humor offered on stations like Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network or the mass-marketed Saturday morning junk. Sorry SpongeBob, you're part of the problem. Qubo is a subchannel of ION Media Network, partnering with NBC, Scholastic and other seemingly reputable groups, putting forth programming that if not entirely educational, it's mostly well-crafted and I don't mind him watching. It can compete with PBS Kids, as I think it is a step up from Noggin, which mainly targets a preschool audience. Qubo doesn't flood the shows with cereal and toy marketing. While it runs ads every 15 minutes, the ads are targeted mainly towards adults: weight loss plans, greatest hits of the 90s on CD, closet organizers and "amazing" as-seen-on-TV appliances ("but there's more!") My son tunes out for most of those. Some of the shows are imported from other countries: Postman Pat (UK), Gofrette (French Canadian), Pecola (Japanese), Jane and the Dragon (Canada/New Zealand's WETA - The people who did Lord of the Rings graphics). There's even a classic old staple like Lamb Chop's Play-along. While not completely educational, I can vouch for all these programs being reputable, showing good "growing up" stories that demonstrate values and doing the right thing. The animation varies from still-frame claymation (Dragon) to computer generated like Pecola, or the storybook natural highlight color tones of "Jane and the Dragon". And my wife and I do sing along to the "Jane and the Dragon" opening theme song too. Another favorite show is "The Adventures From The Book of Virtues" which features Native American themes and a talking buffalo telling stories, cleverly introducing kids to important historical figures like Abraham Lincoln, Helen Keller, or others with noteworthy accomplishments or renowned for their good deeds. Only downside to qubo is that it's a 24-hour network, which means our bedtime routine has to be sync-ed up with the ending of a specific show each day, before the next one begins.
