10/10 selection. Pricing is a little high, but you are in a city! I got 2 1lb ribeyes, 2 lbs chicken thighs and they cooked up perfectly on the new grill. Will be back again!

Even though I've been in Philly for 3 years, it was only recently I started going to Espositos. A friend of ours, Steve, recommended it and after one visit it all came back to ny why going to your local butcher is much better than a chain grocery store. After 2 or 3 visits, they basically know me. 2 hot sausage rounds, 2lbs of bacon and 4 marinated chicken thighs. For Thanksgiving we decided to do short ribs. The cut was perfect. And since we aren't really turkey fans, it was a big hit with the family. 2 things: if you go on Saturday, plan to stand in line. Mask up. Shop local - start with Espositos

Look at those beauties!!! (Lamb chops) * faints *

Esposito's is awesome!!! I'm just letting you know right now that this place is packed, but just stay in line behind the counter you wish to be helped and you will be in and out in no time. I expected this place to be super expensive. I went before Thanksgiving and wanted to get lamb chops for dinner. I was pleasantly surprised that chops were less than $6.00 a pound! THAT'S RIGHT. What whole foods charges you at $8-9/pound, Esposito's is almost $3 less. Fast service. They have so many different varieties of meats you really can't go wrong. They take credit cards as well. After buying about 7 pounds (lol) of lamb chops i cooked them simply with olive oil, salt, peper and dried rosemary. 3 minutes per side on medium-high heat and then I let them rest for 10 minutes. LET ME TELL YOU. They were the night's biggest hit. When you buy lamb chops you run the risk of the fat taking over the whole chop and then after you cook the chop you are left with barely any meat, but not with the ones i bought from Esposito's! Honestly if you have the time go during the week, because on Saturday's it'll be a mad house as anyone knows in the Italian Market area.

I came here Friday after work. It was really clean inside and didn't have that meat market smell. They had a big selection of meats. It was my first time buying from here so I only purchased a few things. I bought lamb chops, chicken wings and a pound of steak. I cooked Some of the lamb chops Friday evening. I was pleasantly surprised at the size and the fact that they didn't shrink after being cooked. The meat remained soft after being cooked. I will be back for future purchases.

Fantastic butcher in the Italian market. There is a huge variety of quality meats at reasonable prices, and the employees are always very helpful and friendly. I went recently looking for goat to make birria and they actually had some in stock! In addition to the meats, they also have a decent selection of quality cheese. This is the spot to go for good fresh meat in Philly!

Great cuts and friendly, helpful staff! Their whole chickens and chicken parts are the best in town, and the club steaks they offer are great for some quick steak tacos. Asked for beef bones to be sliced once and they were done a jiffy. Also, they're keeping folks at a distance during COVID and only letting a few folks in at a time--they even set up some heat lamps outside!

Buy on line and pick up is fantastic! Great quality, reasonable prices. Counter staff can be gruff without being loveable.

My favorite butcher, great service, good prices and truly high quality meat. Try parking on Washington Ave, it's easier.

One of the main reasons to love this place is their sausage - specifically their broccoli rabe and provolone sausage.

My dining companion argued strenuously that pickles have no place on a hoagie but I ignored him lol. I skipped the mayo tho. Surprisingly Dan takes credit cards and Apple Pay, $5 min. He keeps long hours for such a simple sandwich shop. Dan's used to be a butcher & convenience store, maybe back in 1947. Now the shelves are mostly empty except for chips soda and milk, and the butcher case mostly has coleslaw and deli meats. It's actually kind of depressing if you walk to the back. Next time I'll get a meatball or tuna hoagie. Vegetarian rating: one star, they don't even try.

Its a small old school deli that slices the meat to order and provides service with a smile. I was working in Fishtown and checked yelp real quick to see if there was a new spot nearby that I could try for lunch. Dan's had very good reviews and it was less than 5 minutes away. I think its a husband and wife that run this place but I wasn't 100% sure. I ordered a large Italian hoagie and woman behind the counter grabbed the roll from the clear bin in front of the counter and the gentlemen sliced the meat fresh for my Italian and added peppers, oil & vinegar and SPO. There are not many places that still operate like a true old school deli and I really enjoyed it. As she handed me the hoagie she asked if I had ever been there before to which I answered "no." She said well you'll be back. I loved the confidence and she was 100% right! If you are in the area and love a good Italian hoagie Dan's is a must try.

No disrespect at all to Heather Thomason, because this really is her brain child. I've loved following her for a few years now and was happy her kickstarter was backed. I really wanted to contribute and fought for it a bit, but it was backed before I made up my mind. I did wrestle with it for a bit, about what package I would get, but I knew it would be logistically hard to support. We walked in and saw a lot of interesting items. Duck Eggs really caught our eye, but we didn't want to carry them around with us. Decided to leave the store, go to ITV for a drink, and come back before they closed at 6:00 PM. Ordered a nice cut of flank steak and the duck eggs. Maybe for a Kangaroo burger later this week? I just love the idea here, where Primal wants to be more interconnected with farms. I'm really into better quality eggs now, for when we make pasta or things like that. Knowing what the animal ate, really helps make a better product when egg is the star.

And although I still haven't gotten around to trying it during that time, I was looking forward to her and Cecille May's commitment to make sustainable, pasture-raised meat more readily available to Philadelphia when they branched out on their own for Primal Supply Meats (https://www.phillymag.com/foobooz/2016/05/31/kensington-quarters-butcher-heads-out-on-her-own/). And when I sampled their offerings at spots like Stargazy, Garage, and Tired Hands Fermenteria it added up to some of the best meat dishes I've had. While they did an amicable job of providing their meats to restaurants and farmers markets, Primal Supply really needed a butcher shop of their own to better prepare Philly for the carnivore cravings that their meats illicit. And when I heard that they were set to open a few blocks away from me in the spot that used to house the old East Passyunk hardware store (https://www.phillymag.com/foobooz/2017/12/15/primal-supply-butcher-shop-east-passyunk/), it lead to some of the best sausages that I've had (and I say this as a Cappuccio's die hard! - https://www.yelp.com/biz/cappuccios-meats-philadelphia). the bacon & thyme pork sausage was sweet yet smoky and savory at the same time. And the pork Vindaloo yielded an ample amount of Indian spices and heat. Add in the ability to get beef, pork, chicken, liver, lamb, goat stew, and even pet food, and you'll find a huge variety of options. They also carry local cheeses from the likes of Birch Run Farms, pasta from Severino, and the oppotunity to join their pay as you go Butcher's Club meat program, making it another solid addition to East Passyunk!
