The problem is pricing. Hey, so I get it, I'm in the FiDi. I am used to high prices and overpriced food. But, $8 for one slice of avocado toast?!?! And, for $3 extra, I expected more than ONE slice of prosciutto! At least the brick and mortar spots have an excuse, they have to pay exorbitant rents, not sure the same argument can be applied to a good truck . . . So, I paid $11.50 for a pretty tasty slice of avocado with ONE good slice of prosciutto. And, although I enjoyed it, I can't say I can bring myself to buy another one, even with the $5 special discount with a $25+ purchase that I received via email. read more

Visited when the truck was at Soma Food Truck Park on a hot sunny day. Had the iced coffee instead of an espresso drink so the review is more limited. For $3.5, it was a giant 24oz cup of caffeine that wired me up for the rest of the afternoon and evening. The beans taste was just okay quality but smooth. They had liquid sugar and milk. However, a minor detail. They didn't have regular straws but just these half florescent colored ones that would only work on a 12oz cup, unless you can only finish one-half of the 24oz coffee! They do have a good variety of espresso drinks and I will have to go back to check those actions out. read more

Two days out of the week Espresso Subito is next to my office on California and Front. 3 days out of the week they are over here. It's just not fair. So some days, my coworkers and I are so committed to the Nutella latte, we walk about 40m round trip to Espresso Subito but these are only days when our bosses aren't around....more typical in summer and during the holidays. I love this place! I had actually forgotten about them because I had no longer worked near 2nd, which is where they used to park. I was glad to see them on Front Street one day. I decided to walk up just to say, "Hi!" I think I spoke with the owner Gary? I could be wrong. He wore a really cool elephant shirt. He told me they now park on Front!! Cross street California FYI. He was super sweet and was nice in offering me a promo card. Free drink with food purchase. I finally decided on trying their food one morning. I ordered the avocado toast with red pepper flakes. It is so basic and simple, but sooo delicious! I highly recommend it. The toast is a generous size, so it should keep you pretty full until lunch time. I've walked by this cart a few times now that I'm working in San Francisco like a big girl, and today Boyfriend and I finally decided to stop by on our way into the office. They're at this location (Front Street & California Street) on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The menu is a bit limited, and for some reason prices aren't posted on their menu in the window (they actually have a piece of paper covering up their drink prices... a little suspicious if you ask me). They only have two sizes - a small and a medium. No large size available (think Starbucks venti size). For two small drinks (soy Mexican Mocha for me and a small Americano for him), the total came out to be just over $7. Not too shabby, considering café pricing. My Mexican Mocha was pretty typical to ones I've had elsewhere - not too sweet, with only a hint of the added spices that changed my regular mocha to one from south of the border. When I asked Boyfriend how his Americano was his response amounted to, "It's an espresso shot with water." So I'm going to assume it really wasn't anything rave-worthy either. However, they did give each of us a free donut hole with our drinks, which was a pleasant surprise. And I received two stamp cards -- each with two drinks already stamped on it. 10 drinks to get a free one! I'd try them again to see if it was just this mocha that was kind of bland, or if all of their drinks are this way before I completely label them to be a "miss." read more

Espresso Subito is a little piece of coffee and breakfast heaven. I'm a coffee addict, make no mistake about it, particularly lattes. SF is great because there's coffee spots everywhere, but you really have to dig to find the good ones, and Espresso Subito is right up at the top for me! The truck is parked off of California and Front Street, so it's right in the Financial District. If you work in the area, I highly recommend you make this place be your go-to for the first caffeine fix for the day. The owner, Gary, is such a warm and friendly guy. He really cares about making sure his customers enjoy their coffee and the service received. He always welcomes me with a smile and offers free biscotti or some waffle bites to try. He also offers a loyalty card - several stamps later and you have yourself a free drink! Winning On to the coffee - it is SMOOTH. My absolute favorite thing to order here is the Speculoos Latte (flavored with Speculoos Cookie Butter). I typically do not go for sweet flavors, but this one has that perfect subtle sweetness that always leaves me craving for one more sip. They do not make their lattes overly sweet, which I really appreciate. The Mexican Mocha is another winner! As is the Nutella Latte. I've also ordered the regular plan latte and enjoyed it just as much as the others. Espresso Subito also offers a variety of breakfast and lunch options (they make fresh waffles!). I have yet to try them, but hope to soon! Go to Espresso Subito in lieue of Starbucks or Philz next time and support local businesses. The world, however, is not all about me (oh, that it were), and the other people in my party got lattes, mocha, espresso, etc., and other things that the truly discerning intelligentsia among S.F. hipsters love, and they pronounced their purchases to be stupendous. I love the coffee here and when I'm forced by my co-worker to venture down Cali St. to the McDonalds, I make him stop here with me. The coffee drinks are amazing but small for the price. I had a Mexican Latte which was devine but I killed it within two blocks because it was itty bitty and for almost $5, a bit steep for my college student blood. What redeems the price? They have a punch card and two stamp Tuesdays, meaning you get two stamps with purchase and the nice gentleman offeres you free biscotti!!! Mmmmm... Anyone who knows me knows how much I love the satisfaction of getting that next punch! I generally carry around about five of these bad boys with me at all times! Let's start with I'm OBSESSED with Subito. A coworker got me hooked one day and they make THE BEST foam with soy milk. Their lattes are perfect drinking temperature, never burnt milk and flavored lightly (never too sweet!). I introduced this to a couple other folks including my sister and we think about it every Monday, Wednesday and Friday when they USED to always be on Mission & 2nd by the Carumbas taqueria...that's what their business card/loyalty stamp card says. The past couple of months, however, they've been missing and are never really there. I am not a coffee connoisseur by any means -- I am definitely a latte kind of girl. That being said, I was blown away by not only the quality and taste of the lattes I've purchased from the Espresso Subito truck on 2nd & Mission MWF, but also by the friendly service. I tried their Nutella latte first (YUM) and on my second trip I had their cocoa almond latte (basically a Nutella latte with almond rather than hazelnut ... also YUM). Each time, the dudes in the cart offered me free biscotti, which was super flavorful and not a dry hunk of blech like normal biscotti. Awesome :) Plus, the bearded barista is awfully cute. WIN. They started serving from their truck in Food Truck Alley in San Francisco, off Mission near 1st St., on Monday April 30 2012. It sucks. Don't bother. They DON'T use a small-batch roaster and their beans blow. And it's a bit overpriced. You'd be better off at the nearby Martha & Bros... and not to mention that Special Xtra (serving Blue Bottle) is a short walk from there. They do have awesome bagels - from Baron Baking in Oakland - but they are idiots and pre-slice them, which renders the interior dry when you purchase one, rather than intact and soft and chewy. A friend recommended their Nutella Latte, which brought back a wave of nostalgia to my college days, when I would actually carry a jar of Nutella to a barista I knew so that she would make one for me... Please don't judge me, I was sort of caught up in that Nutella craze back in the day, okay? ANYWAY, that's what I ran to this truck for, and I was not disappointed. Oddly enough, it wasn't too sweet for the duration of the drink, only getting a little sweeter near the bottom as most of the Nutella accumulated there. I love this mobile coffee shop! They have Nutella lattes, which I just cannot resist. The best part is that these guys mix it just right - not too sweet, but just enough that you get a hint of that delicious flavor with every sip. The baristas are very nice, and always friendly. Loved the coffee, loved the music playing in the background. Jeff K. was super friendly, cute and easily approachable. Something you do not find often in the city early in the am. He made a great mocha, gave me a card for the BEAM ME UP Program, which I will make use of. Only reason they lost a star was due to two reasons- 1) No pastry offerings. Jeff only had coffee there. I was in the mood for a munchie. 2) The person who works with him filled out some form on his iPhone for me to send in and help show my support-- he already had typed it out and needed my personal information. I do not mind helping out the small business person but I felt like I had been 'targeted' and told I have to say this and that to get my morning hit. I will be back! I've always been very skeptical of coffee food trucks, and I've never found one that's better than acceptable. Until today, at least, when I was late for work but desperately needed coffee, and saw this brightly colored truck on Front at California. I'm glad I stopped by, because the barista was friendly, the prices were great, and my cappuccino was great. Certainly as good as any other place in the Financial District, with the perfect amount of foam and a nice deep flavor with a hint of berry or plum. And they gave me a free donut hole! Visited the Espresso Subito truck in Food Truck alley on 1st and Mission last week in the morning after finding out that my local Starbucks is going to be closing/moving to a new location. The man that was running the truck was pretty efficient, offered me a couple bite sized carrot cake muffins and scones, but not before assuming that I wanted nonfat milk and a large Cafe Latte. Not a big deal since the price between a large and small isn't huge, but there were no questions in terms of what I wanted. Maybe this is me being too used to chain coffee houses where the customization factor is part of the experience, but it seemed like you should at least offer that (assuming it's available). Anyway, the latte was small, and the quality of it was "meh". I'll be trying somewhere else in the area to find my go-to beanery. read more

I can see that some customers have had positive experiences, so it may be dependent on who is behind the cart. All I can say is that our company had Gary and it really could not have been a more negative experience. On the phone, Gary was not only inflexible about coming at a time that halfway suited our needs, but his manner on the phone was so rude, and the person on our end so frustrated and put off, that I tried to convince our company to just cancel the service altogether. However, we went forward with it and when I had the "pleasure" of meeting Gary he was just as unfriendly in person. Our exchange was mostly him grunting to a colleague, and then to me, that we couldn't order anything because he was closing up (a few minutes early). Mostly, he just came across as someone not happy and taking it out on others. There is a LOT of good coffee in the Bay Area, folks. You do not need to hire someone with such a lack of people skills or care towards customer service. I can't really comment on the coffee itself since he wouldn't serve me but I'm sure it's fine. This review is not based on their food, which is really good. Their Avocado toastie is very yummy along with their lattes. I am stickler about customer service. Yesterday I received 2 emails from Espresso Subito: First: "We Miss You" with $5 off a $25 dollar purchase, I won't use so I deleted. I then received a second email: "Thanks for your support" for $5 off my next order, with no minimum amount to purchase. - The emails were sent in that order. - Cool! $5 off my order - WRONG! I was told that I had to purchase $25 and that I should purchase beans or bring friends over. They never bothered to look at the coupon which I had up on my phone. Obviously, there was some miscommunication on what types of coupons were being sent. Plus, if I went there for breakfast, its just for me, I am not buying anything else and not bringing anyone since I am coming off BART. Obviously not thankful for my support.
