Salt and honey responded to my inquiry quickly when other caterers did not. Their consultation and contracting was quick and professional, their food delivery and set up personnel were kind and careful, and the food was delicious. We had a delivery of breakfast for 75 and the food was surprisingly hot when it arrived. The standout items were the quiche, certainly the lemon ricotta pancakes with house made lemon curd and whipped cream, the fresh fruit, and they even have decent coffee. Feeding 75 adult hockey players is no small task, but they were able to offer suggestions that would allow us to have a variety of foods in volume and stay within our budget. We were really hopeful about Salt and Honey for our wedding of 68 in my parents' backyard. From the first meeting Olivia (the owner) answered all our questions and created a menu that was farm to table with local fresh ingredients which we wanted. She ensured us that her and her team had ample experience with receptions in private homes. After we signed the contract with Olivia things changed. A few months before the wedding we had another in person meeting with the new FOH manager at my parents' property, Jessica (who we love.) Unfortunately she didn't have a lot of the correct information from Olivia on what the company could and couldn't provide. A week before the wedding, there were numerous email threads where Olivia had no idea about items needed for the wedding, such as asking for a tent rental for BOH and talking about flipping the ceremony and reception space cocktail hour items when there was only 1 location. She also asked for hundreds of dollars more in event rentals days before the wedding (which we ended up not needing most of it) and stood up our planner for meetings. It was an incredible amount of undue stress days before the wedding for us, my parents, and our wedding planner. The day of, none of the food was served hot. When we told Jessica (as Olivia wouldn't speak to us directly), she said that she was sorry and dishes could be reheated. That said, the servers were attentive and the settings for the cocktail hour were beautiful. Olivia showed up to the wedding the day of and told our planner she wanted to give my husband and I our meals separately (never did) and also got into an argument with my planner and her assistant over the service. This resulted in her shutting the door in my wedding assistant's face. I do not understand how someone providing a service could be so blatantly disrespectful. Following the day, Olivia ended up apologizing via email and giving us money back for the food which was greatly appreciated. That said, it really doesn't make up for the fact that our wedding was significantly negatively impacted because of the food and service, including so much unnecessary stress for us, my family, and our planner. Based on our experience, I would never recommend this company for your event. read more

My wife and I chose Salt and Honey to cater our wedding reception at our in-laws' house a year before the event. We initially met with the owner, Olivia, and her confidence in off-site events reassured us. We were also wooed by their menu, thoughtfulness, and overall ethos. But leading up to and during our wedding, we ran into issues that caused this less than favorable review. First and most importantly, let's talk about the food. While we loved the menu and some of the appetizers, on the day of our wedding, much of the food was served cold that should have been hot, including the main entrees of meat and fish. Several guests commented on this. While many of the passed appetizers were delicious, some, like the sliders, were cold and left virtually untouched. This was absolutely unacceptable and Salt and Honey honored this as a fault, offering a substantial refund on the food. Secondly, communication. The owner of the restaurant had obvious lack of coordination with her staff in terms of understanding of the event space, rentals, and day-of plans. This led to many back-and-forth email chains a week before the wedding to get details straight, causing my wife much undue stress. A week before the wedding, we ended up being forced to add hundreds of dollars in extra rentals previously overlooked by her team (even after a 2 hour walkthrough during our initial tasting in which the coordinator took copious notes). The lack of coordination may have also caused the cold food due to an oversight into how to use the event space in order to heat the food. Lastly, professionalism. Olivia, the owner of Salt and Honey, appeared very professional during our initial meeting. However, leading up to the wedding she missed crucial meetings she'd made with our planner and argued many details that showed she had obviously not coordinated with her team. She also came to our reception and told our planner she'd serve our main course, then never did. Finally, our planner relayed that she had been rude to her assistant, shutting a door in her face, which made us feel very uncomfortable. Overall, I would not recommend this company to a friend due to the quality of the food, communication internally and externally, and the owner's professionalism during our wedding. read more

Salt & Honey catered a luncheon yesterday for my company's year-end Board of Directors meeting. Our Board members were impressed with both the gorgeous presentation and the delicious food, and our executive team loved it as well! The most popular items were Salt & Honey's lovely cheese and charcuterie plate with flatbread crackers (devoured quickly), Angus sliders, shrimp and chicken skewers, and multiple delicious dips and sauces.The food went FAST and got rave reviews. My review for Salt & Honey has been long overdue. I was home for the holiday and my family had ordered our entire Thanksgiving meal from S&H Catering. On the menu: - Citrus Herb Butter Turkey - Candied Baked Yams with Pecan Streusel - Seasonal Roasted Vegetables with Pomegranate Molasses - Massage Kale, Pepitas, Shaved Rainbow Carrots, Faro, Farm Cheese, Avocado, Citrus Agave - Traditional Stuffing - Gravy - Cranberry Sauce There was so much food and it all tasted super delicious. My favorite were the seasonal roasted veggies, the traditional stuffing and the citrus herb butter turkey. I loved how colorful the choice of roasted veggies were and how the turkey wasn't dry at all. My family was so pleased working with S&H Catering the first time that they decided to go work with them again for my Grandpa's 90th Birthday celebration. On the menu: [Appetizer] - Ahi Tuna Poke Cups with house made sesame cracker [Dinner] - Sea bass en Papillote with pickled and wild steamed mushrooms, bok choy and soy citrus broth - Israeli Couscous with fried walnuts, dried cranberries, parsley, preserved lemon - Red Wine Braised Short Ribs with horseradish and herb gremalata - Vegetable Root Puree EVERYTHING was delectable! The poke was a surefire favorite as the main appetizer (we had other smaller plates out of store bought crackers, fruit, cheese, nuts, and vegetables. The poke and braised short ribs went fast -- I took a liking to it all. I really liked how the sea bass came individually wrapped so when you opened it, each person had a good sized piece with some steamed veggies. The braised short ribs were tender and had a lot of flavor. The couscous was light and colorful and the vegetable puree was quite yummy too. I would eat the puree on its own for leftovers afterwards. I would highly recommend S&H Catering for any upcoming special events such as birthdays, weddings, graduations, holidays, or any other celebrations. Delivered on time, set it up and came back to pick up their stuff on time. The food was very good! We had the Craft-brew Marinated Flank Steak, Grilled Herbed Roasted Chicken, Grilled Polenta topped with grilled vegetable camponata, Mixed greens and chocolate-chunk cookies. Although the people in my office were happy with the food, the cost was a different story. The cost of the food is reasonable ($322.50 for 15 people), however they add $50 for Delivery, $67.05 for Production Fee, and $17.50 for Service Fee. That's 83% of the total food cost. You can feed 6 more people out of that. It's difficult to justify that much fees. Maybe they are more suitable for big events not office meals. read more
