We started our trip to Mexico City on a high note - likely our favorite meal of the trip! We were able to make a reservation, and shortly after we checked into our place of stay, we were able to walk over to the restaurant. It doesn't jump out at you, so be sure to watch your location on google maps to make sure you find your way to the restaurant. We were seated on their upstairs patio, and were fortunate to have come on a day when it was fairly comfortable. They guided us through the menu, and we opted to try all their items. We came super hungry, so were excited to try the variety of food. We started out a bit anxious about whether we would fill up, as the portions started a bit on the smaller end. However, the portions got larger and larger with each dish and we ended up overly full. The progression differed from what we were used to, as it seemed to bounce back and forth between lighter and heavier dishes. However, the flavors of each item were very enjoyable. A few noteworthy items included their aguachile, which had an amazing passionfruit sauce. We also greatly enjoyed the burrata salad served with some toasted bread. The tamale served with a mole was excellent as well. The service was fantastic for our experience. Our server was very friendly, and was very kind to me when I wasn't feeling well (Turns out I don't adjust quickly to changes in altitude). It was also nice - this was the only restaurant we went to that provided free filtered water in reusable bottles. I would highly recommend this restaurant!

In 2025, two Americans slipped away from central Kentucky -- and its blazing 90-degree days -- to seek treasure in the heart of Mexico City. Mist-cooled mornings in the 50s and 60s greeted us, and the burdens of the year washed away, if only for a moment. But we weren't searching for gold. We came for the treasures this ancient place cooks up -- not only in humble taco stands, but in proud, modern Michelin-starred kitchens. Esquina Común, playful as a lover, revealed its address only after late-night Instagram DMs. Inside, the ambience matched Mexico City itself: casual and refined, rugged Latin American spirit with a touch of European glamour. Each dish astonished -- beautiful to look at, yes, but even more thrilling to taste. Every plate surpassed the last, bursting with creativity and deep intention. And the service? Warm, bilingual, and effortlessly impeccable. For those chasing treasures that won't slip through your fingers like gold dust, come to Esquina Común. Transcend what you think you know about Mexico City cuisine.

(I'm just gonna riff here, stream of consciousness, and qualify right off the bat that I'm not really a "foam and powder" restaurant kind of guy, so that you take what I am about to say with a "grain of salt"). Sometimes a food dish will photograph beautifully, truly artistically, but there is no big flavor payoff, (just an assembly of a bunch of a little of this, a little of that, with a beautiful presentation). Other times there is a huge flavor payoff but you really don't need to photograph it; examples: Indian curries or stews, big hunks of carnitas or maciza or barbacoa in the mercado. Put lots of things together, well, you're gonna come away with pretty pictures. But what will it taste like? In the case of this place, the flavor profiles, for me, there were not any truly OMG moments. Just came away with respect and admiration for how lovely everything looked. At the core, maybe think "Asian" but with some core Mexican flavors with the meats at the heart of several dishes (barbacoa for example) ingredients of the new world, I think? (I live in a town with hundreds of Chinese and Vietnamese restaurants, with their centuries of play with food flavors, and that is probably why I was underwhelmed, as opposed to the excitement these dishes might generate for someone in CDMX, not used to that). The dishes here are very cuisine minceur. Fortunately, no one ingredient overwhelms, but at the same time, no dish's flavor profile is really memorable. The OMG moments come from the ambience, the setting, the truly wonderful staff. But it is never a good thing when a person's thoughts while trying each dish bring up the thought of "emperor's new clothes", as one overhears the oohs and aahs from other tables. The night I was there, they missed the target, respect to how sticky rice should be cooked and taste. (I kept thinking that I'd rather just have a perfect cha gio or banh xeo than this dish in front of me); (after I had photographed it in all of its prettiness). (Or even a quality spam musubi, with a really good sushi rice). Ditto the shrimp crudo. Great photograph but I kept thinking of the portions of ceviche in the Coyoacan market. Note: I know and acknowledge that the ingredients here are of the finest quality and are sourced from excellent sources. It is slightly unfair to look at the crudo here like a ceviche in Coyoacan. Quality versus quantity. It's a great restaurant. The ambience can't be beat. The staff are wonderful. The presentation is as good as it gets.

What a fabulous experience! This is such an approachable Michelin star meal, not just in affordability but also ambiance and vibe. Its a lovely little escape from the busier spots all around! A hostess outside the ground floor greeted us and directed us upstairs, where we were warmly welcomed and seated. The rooftop had about 10 tables, all spaced nicely, and we had a nice view of the area and lots of greenery. The service throughout was so warm and friendly, and very well thought out. Everything was explained in detail but not in a pretentious way - more about sharing what is in the dish and about the culture. They recommend sharing the entire menu for 2 people - which we did - but you can also order a la carte. I regret I didn't get a photo of the menu as I can't remember exactly what everything was, other than beautiful and delicious!

I was lucky enough to snag an early dinner reservation at Esquina prior to our CDMX trip. We arrived on an uber but couldn't locate the restaurant. It turned out to be a speakeasy and the restaurant is actually located on the rooftop of a small cafe. Ambiance: island vibe. Casual and laid back fine dining. Only table seating, very limited number of tables as well. We saw mostly couples but did see a family with young kids. Service: excellent. Our waitress cleared out our plates once we were done and the next course didn't take long to arrive. She even asked us for feedback if anything needed to be improve which we did give some suggestions and she happily accepted it. When the food arrived, an explanation was always given which made the experience even more authentic. Food: 4/5. You can order ala carte or do the tasting menu. The tasting menu was recommended by our server which we went with since we got to try a bit of everything. The courses were presented as family style. My favorite was the fish tostada, smoked plantain stuffed with shrimp and the wagyu flank steak with sweet potato purée. Portion sizes were decent for the tasting menu and every course was plated beautifully. Cost: $$. This meal was very reasonable for a 1 Michelin star restaurant with a tasting menu. My husband and I both got a drink or two as well. With tips and tax included, our meal was around $175 USD for two people. Overall, a decent restaurant to try in Mexico City. The food was very unique and the atmosphere was relaxing for a fine dining restaurant.

This charming restaurant is on the second floor of a cafe and you'll need to walk through the back of the cafe and up some winding steps to get there. The menu is pretty small and you have the option to do ala carte, but the recommended way is definitely to do the tasting of all the dishes. There's plenty of food for two to share so come hungry! Every dish was beautifully presented and was cooked with fresh ingredients and unique flavors. Service is excellent too. Definitely an experience! The restaurant is semi outdoors so consider putting on some bug spray!

Lovely resturant on the roof. The dishes were all pretty interesting and had some unique elements. My favorite was the tamale and the tacos.

Woah. Esquina Común was such a good and accessible Michelin star experience. It is a quaint rooftop terrace with a super small dining room (only two servers). The menu was actually similar to Pujol, but the ceviche here blew me away. It was a true Michelin dish where you get a "perfect bite" that your tastebuds just weren't expecting. If I had to choose between the two I'd actually choose Esquina Común. My other favorites were the tamale and tostada. Buen provecho!

Amazing course menu. Incredible service. Tasty dishes. Tasting menu - 5/5 The service was incredible. Super friendly. Great recommendations. We opted for the course menu and even added on an extra one. Everything was sooo good. Super Cute spot.

Our favorite meal of our trip was Esquina Comun, it was an amazing and delicious experience on an outdoor patio. We had it for lunch, which was perfect because the dining area is outside on a rooftop surrounded by treetops. The prices were great, service was exceptional, and every dish we received felt like a work of art. We would 100% go back if we ever visit Mexico City again.

We then kicked things off with the arancini, which set the tone right away--crispy, flavorful, and perfectly done. For mains, we shared a spread and honestly couldn't pick a favorite: the Octopus Tacos were tender and packed with flavor, the Rabbit Tacos were unique and delicious, and the roasted seasonal vegetables "al mojo de ajo" were simple but so satisfying. The marinated pan-fried salmon and fresh trout were both beautifully cooked and thoughtfully seasoned. Every dish felt intentional, beautifully presented and well executed. But the real showstoppers were the desserts. The fresh goat cheesecake with orange, grapefruit, and lemon was bright and perfectly balanced, and the whisky chocolate crème brûlée was rich, smooth, and unforgettable. Desserts truly knocked it out of the park. Bonus points for the cocktails--my hubby was a huge fan. Great food, great drinks, excellent service and relaxed ambiance made for a wonderful overall experience. Highly recommend adding Temporal to your Mexico City dining list.

What really says it all? We loved it so much, we went back the very next day. This was the only restaurant we repeated during our week-long stay, which should tell you everything. The menu is extensive and thoughtfully curated--fresh, flavorful, and something for everyone. We tried the croissant sandwich, salmon deli nut sandwich, chutney mango deli sandwich, santos ahogados, fig chipotle deli sandwich, pear honey deli sandwich, and the spicy tuna deli sandwich. The sandwiches came with a standard simple salad. Every single item was delicious, well-balanced, and satisfying in that "clean but filling" way. The tables had two delicious spicy chili oil like condiments which elevated each of these dishes. And the juices--WOW. So refreshing, vibrant, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. The perfect complement to the food and ideal for starting (or resetting) your day. If you're visiting Mexico City, Ojo de Agua is an absolute must. With such a wide menu, you're guaranteed to find something you'll love--and very likely come back for more. Highly recommend!
