This a quaint old fashioned Barber Shop in Downtown Madison. John ended up cutting my 5 year old sons hair , and I couldn't be happier with both the haircut and the experience. They really are skilled, friendly and took their time with my son. It was honestly so cute to see my boy chatting away with his barber. The outside is cute , with a Barber Pole (not a spin one but the same motif) and a large sitting area . There is a nice amount of space in there , although there Are 2-3 barber stations. They have cool decorations up, sports stuff (baseball, horse racing and football). It's definitely a manS man barbershop . But kind and comfortable. I will definitely return and recommend it to everyone in the area. read more

Always a good experience here, friendly staff and an old-fashioned feel. Have never been disappointed in haircuts for myself or my two boys. Highly recommended! And, it's right next to the comic book store! What a great old fashioned barbershop. Older gent and young guy. Just the 2 chairs. Both know their craft - either scissors (manual) or a buzzer. Had both guys and both tools - quite happy each time. Prices are very reasonable too. Only good things - lots of locals sitting and talking to each other and happily waiting their turn!! Definitely recommend this shop over the new "fancy" places where you pay double or triple for the same thing (even less quality there if you ask me). read more

Place is amazing. Father and son duo that both do incredible work. I've got curly white guy hair that some places butcher because it's an inconsistent hair type, they always nail it so I don't end up with the "dumb and dumber" look. I moved and still drive 45 minutes to come here. I tend work with the son, we chat video games and have a great time. You will not be disappointed! read more

Both barbers are really good in this shop. The barber Keith is exceptionally good at cutting women's and girls hair. He did a long layer cut on my hair which came out beautifully. The cost was only $15. Where can you go and get a beautiful cut for that price?? He also is a great barber for men's and boys haircuts. I felt like I was wasting my time while in Madison looking for a barbershop, everyone was too busy to give me a cut. Esquire looked like just another old-fashioned styled shop, like the one I usually go to when I am home away from college. As it turns out, Esquire gave me the best cut I have had in years. I could not have been ore pleased with the results. They put time and effort into giving you exactly what you'd like. The friendliest barbers ever, $15 for a cut (try, I mean TRY to find a barber shop ANYWHERE in this area with a $15 price tag, then TRY AGAIN to find one that gives good & fast cuts, then TRY REAL HARD to find one that gives good, fast cuts for $15!!! You CANT!"), and they still provide all the old school VIP services like straight-razor neck trims and a listening ear. Decrying the loss of all those old time local barbers who knew and respected you and supported all the local sports teams and proudly displayed all their memorabilia on their walls? Well, Esquire Barber Shop remains as one of these great hallowed institutions, Thank God, and is still going strong, and hopefullly will keep going strong as long as anyone on the planet continues to appreciate how valuable they are. So far as the one negative review, well, ignore it. Chances are he's probably not a Jets fan, in which case, if he ditched the Jets (or any Madison High School team) in any way, shape or form he's lucky they didn't shave off his eyebrows, give him a reverse Mohawk, a "Van Gogh ear trim" and charge him double.
