Essen Health Care took over my primary care physician's practice in March of this. My doctor left his private of 18 years; I was his patient for 15 years. Since April of this year, I have been repeatedly requesting my medical records from Essen through their website and by email. My new primary care physician has also made several requests. To date, no one at Essen has responded to my ten-plus requests for my medical records. Shame on them! They're a disgrace! read more

Please be careful with ESSEN Health Care billing your insurance!!! With no transparency or clarification they enrolled a family member into some kind of monthly program, charging my insurance $75 every month, even though no doctor visits happened. I had to have a group call with my insurance agent and the Essen Billing department for them to disenroll my family member from this bogus program. They never provided a clear explanation as to why they were charging every month for no services. To Patients: please double check your Explanation of Benefits to make sure you were not unknowingly enrolled in a monthly service. read more

My family on 2 occasions has been subject to a data breach. There was no offer of assistance to rectify there errors or costs associated with paying for Experian or credit monitioorinbg services. The care is average for urgent care. The bills never get submitted properly. read more

Service was acceptable, billing was not. After a standard payment via the mail with a credit card, I received a second notice of the bill. I called them to confirm they had received my payment form and was assured they would double check their records and get back to me if there was an issue. Fast forward 6 months and a debt collector is harassing me for an unpaid bill. Clearly their accounting department needs to get its act together - if you want to keep your good credit, please avoid them. read more

Service is trash. Got a call, asked how did my information get obtained and to please remove my information. The lady gave attitude. Sighed and everything. Supervisor was a joke. Just spoke fast and pretended to care. The call center is BS, unprofessional and classless. I feel bad for anyone working there and being serviced. How do you run a health business without sympathy? How do you work and can't take feedback? So, I hope the call was recorded- if the company cares they will hear the lack of professionalism. Dermatologist was great billing Dept is a sham. This place is obviously better suited to Medicaid only patients. Private insurance paid their portion I paid the balance due and it still got sent to collections it was successfully disputed on my credit report and my newly 18-year-old son has a three-year-old medical bill on his credit report no bills ever sent to the house it goes straight to collections. I am warning you all to not attend this clinic from the bottom of my heart. I don't wish any one to be treated like my mother was. She's been a patient for years now. Always a sweetheart, loved the old staff members like her kids as well. But, she just witnessed a change. The front desk staff members there as of now are rude, mean, and disrespectful. Words cannot explain how angry I am that I couldn't be there with my mom to assist her. She expressed to the front desk staff member that she couldn't maneuver the technology stand. The staff member rudely and with an attitude insisted my mom try it. Mind you, my mother has and she just can't for as long as those stands have been there. Whenever I go, I help her but unfortunately I couldn't attend the appointment with her this time. My mom responded back that she doesn't know how to with an attitude back because that's no way to speak to someone. She yelled at my mother that is isn't her problem. She started arguing with my mother, it was back and forth and the manager didn't even do anything, she looked scared of them as well. Other staff members joined attacking my mother. Please DO NOT go here. I selected a doctor at this facility as my PCP. I saw him several times, no problem. I came to need a hernia surgery. The surgeon sent me for pre-surgery blood work. NONE OF THEM...not ONE in that office knew what pre-surgery blood work/clearance is... I informed the doctor that the surgeon/hospital would get the EKG, the bloodwork results for him to review and sign off on....the doctor said that REGARDLESS of what the hospital did ...he'd have to repeat THE SAME EXACT TESTS...BEFORE he signs off. NO ONE, the surgeon, the hospital, none of the doctors EVER heard of ANYTHING like that before in their careers ..DO NOT GO to this place. read more

I was looking for a clinic when I came across this clinic and I remembered two years ago, "Doctor" Elizabeth Shelley (or the lady with the brown hair.) was incredibly rude to me. When I arrived there, I had a doctor exam me telling me that Ms. Shelley will be late. She then came in to exam me. I told her I was already examined and she yelled at me stating that she is going to exam me. She got shaky and angry it was so awkward. read more

My favorites are 1- the info kiosk that are used to enter or edit your own information, its very paperless which makes the registering process easier and more effective. 2- Online service; yo can go online and do a lot of things like: edit your profile, request meds and even make an appt. 3- This place is very clean and well taken care of and staff is friendly and accommodating. read more

I recently move here to the Bronx from Manhattan, and didn't want to travel far to see the doctor so I said I'll try it here not to far from my apt. Didn't like the atmosphere, felt that because I was Black and not Hispanic I got a different kind of treatment. The staff never seem to follow up on anything, which left me having to ask over and over what happened, and they left me feeling like I was a nag. I told myself after I finish this Business I'm done with them I going back downtown where there was some professionalism. Unfortunately for me I should've left their service sooner. It ended with me being accused of stealing some headphones. I had got a cryptic call from one of the receptionist asking me funny questions, like was you here today, what happened today? I was like what are you talking about, that when she got real nasty and accuse me of stealing some headphones and that she had me on tape stealing them. I know this couldn't be true because I didn't steal anything. So I ran right down there and when I got there the police was already there. I ask to see the tape, they refused to let me see it. The police said they didn't need to see it they was taking their word for it. Subsequently the police handcuffs me. So I'm on the sidewalk handcuff asking why I can't see the tape. I guess one of the people working there look and realize it wasn't me. I still ask to see it to see if they any real grounds for accusing me they refuse to let me see the tape; which may me know it was racism, because I was black and the only black there at the time, so the video didn't put me in the crime, she put me in the video. So be aware these people have racist tendencies towards black people, and shoddy service. read more

I am very satisfied with this spot as my primary doctor. I continue to have great experiences. The staff are friendly, always welcoming. They even came in on a snowy storm (1/4/17) and that I very much appreciate! I have not been to the other EMA locations, but I do know that this one at 2015 grand concourse is amazing! They have a nice seating area and also have a 2nd seating area further inside. I have always come in on a weekday, so I can only speak on that and no matter what day I come in, I feel well at this location. I appreciate all the worker's efforts and it is important that we as people be thankful for all the work they put in because being in the workforce can be exhausting and oppressive. But, they are always welcoming to me when I come. I have never had issues making any appointments with them, and even when it is busy, I see they try their best! read more

The place is great, clean, and the people are friendly and helpful. The doctors are nice, however Dr. London is the slowest Doctor ever. I don't know if it's because she is young and probably new to the profession, but if you do not want to wait long, do not come on the Saturdays that she works. You will come in at 8:30am when they open and leave at 12:30pm when they close. I'm not exaggerating either. I will be looking for another doctor very soon. Thank you, by no thank you. She just destroyed my impression of the place, and I'm not basing this on one visit. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, however I highly doubt things will change. read more

Dr. Sahgal you say you want to supplement physician shortages plaguing underserved communities', well it should include to provide pleasant customer service. Dr. Sahgal I have previously mentioned this problem that exists at all the branches I have visited. When it was a small office it was great service, the bigger the practice the faster the decline in good customer service, the horrible service grows and grows. Front desk: The focus is not on the patient, it is on themselves, loudly talking to each other (not about the work), busy on their cell phone, and ignoring the patients waiting for service. Customer service extremely bad here, no smiles, no hellos, no how are you, it's just terrible service (not by the doctors). The unpleasant bad customer service is from the people that I encounter as I first enter the office and gradually move from one to the next. Always remember patients are there for a medical reason, and it is not just to increase your bottom line. I see that your business has grown quickly in a short time, I hope you can improve the customer service just as quicker. read more

When I first came her after being in the hosptial for 6 months I was in very bad shape but after being a patient here Essen it has been an instrument in recovering. They also have great customer service and I couldnt have imagned in teaming that has been so helpful that I even have gotten my mother involved with housecalls. read more

I've been going to this doctors office for about 2 years or so and although when I first started going the patient care was pretty good now that I go I notice lots of unprofessionalism and doctors favoring fellow employees over the patients themselves..... first off the receptionist area is the first sight of unprofessionalism that you will see people are having side conversations, joking, cursing before tending to the patient sometimes when the manager is there she sometimes either yells at them and order them to do things in a very cringe worthy way or talks about a patient behind their back next I'll say sometimes medical assistants will be attentive to the patient and sometimes they will not say a word more than let me take your blood pressure or let me weigh you finally the worst part of my experience going to the doctor is the inadequate medical records technician (the person that asks you your reason of why you're here) everytime I see the doctor he is there he's a tall Hispanic male with glasses and he will downplay the symptoms that you tell him put it in the computer tell the doctor before they see you and that whole process alters the service and care you receive while they bill your insurance and you receive inadequate care then he's with the doctor while you see him or her and will you tell them that this patient took this test and that months ago disregarding current symptoms that you are facing now...... making it where you have to speak up fight and argue to get the service you need and deserve and are paying you tax paying dollars for and this is the experience I have received over and over expecting that my next experience is gonna be better but it isn't and so I say all of that to say this.... if you want the highest quality service for your health, DO NOT GO HERE AT ALL!!!! I booked an appointment with the dermatologist for my nine year old son using Zoc Doc. We arrived at the scheduled time only to find out the physician at this location doesn't see children under 16. The male receptionist was working with another client and the female receptionist was sitting some what relaxed to be at work with a very nonchalant attitude in regards to the error that was by no means my fault. She continuously questioned me about the appointment with the impression I was some how at fault even after realizing it was an error made by her office. She proceeded to give me the number of another office that could see my son but the doctors there were family physicians as well and not dermatologists which is what my son needed. After calling I explained to her the error she made and she proceeded to explain to me, as if one I was uneducated, or two hard of hearing the difference between a family physician and dermatologist as if I, a well educated woman with a Masters in Education was some how intellectually disabled. This attitude was very unprofessional. I will never visit this office again and I pray they hire people more professional in the future! I would've given 0 stars if it was an option! read more
