I joined One Medical years ago and have never looked back. I had a horrible experience with NY doctors previously - nearly impossible to get an appt when you need one immediately, long wait times once you actually get the appointment, doctor is rushed, etc. It's completely the opposite at One Medical - online booking, video visits, quick prescriptions via their app for common issues like a UTI, great online communication portal, and everyone is super friendly and accommodating. I see Dr. Lamarre now and she's wonderful! But the great thing is that if I need to see someone else in a different location they have always been just as awesome. Can't recommend enough. read more

I am a registered nurse so I always try to choose a nurse practitioner as my primary care provider. I opted for an annual physical exam with Rachel Garcia NP at this location. Rachel was pleasant,but basically went through a check list of questions not really caring to know me. I pointed out an odd shaped mole on my leg. She told me that it did look suspicious and would give me a referral to a dermatologist. After the physical exam she told me I was a young 28 year old and didn't need annual exams. I am sorry, maybe it is the nurse in me or my family history of issues but it is my choice to be seen annually to have blood work and an assessment. Also you never know when you need a PCP for a sick visit or specific ailments. Back to the mole I never got a follow up call with a dermatologist referral. I did get an email by a nurse with my lab results. I figured it must not have been a big deal with the mole. A month later I was in a grad class. We were looking at photos of melanoma and noticed the similarities of photos and my mole. I found a dermatologist that could fit me in ASAP. Turns out it was melanoma. Horrible experience. With the $200 fee I expect more. Will definitely find another PCP. read more

I know it seems strange that a doctor's office could have such high ratings, but if you've experienced wait times longer for a doctor than you have at the DMV, this is the place for you. Yes, you do have to pay $199 yearly fee, but it is WELL WORTH IT. (FYI, you can deduct the $199 out of your Flexible Spending Account.) I got a next day appointment in the morning at their location close to my job. The front desk lady was really nice and as promised, my appointment started on time. I was seen by the doctor immediately (I saw Dr. Pino) who treated me fully (I didn't have my testing done by a tech). I got my prescription faxed to my pharmacy so it was ready and waiting for me after I got there after work. Dr. Pino was extremely pleasant and gave me her card to email her on Monday if I have any problems. I've never had a doctor give me their contact info to reach them directly at work, so that's a major plus. Such a painless and pleasant experience going to the doctor--I plan on returning much more frequently when I'm sick and actually taking advantage of my health insurance! I highly recommend!!! In a side note, their waiting room is really nice, although it seems unnecessary since you don't wait for your appointment! read more

Got billed $300+ for a quick 10 mins check up and another $100 for lab tests. So basically burned $400 out of pocket for a 10 min visit. On top they billed me one day 10 months after the visit. Said they needed to wait for integration with Mt. Sinai before the bills got to go out. Would not recommend anyone to visit this place. Stay away read more

I came across One Medical Group because they were listed as an in network provider by my current insurance. As I did more research, I learned that when my insurance status changes, I'll be able to keep my doctor from One Medical because they accept a lot of insurances, including my possible insurance company. I hesitated at first with the yearly membership fee but, in the past, I dealt with the horrors of going to a doctor without insurance and being clueless. I've been bitten in the ass by that situation and I know how to avoid it now. When I worked it out in my head, I figured out that paying the yearly fee makes sense to me according to my needs and the amount of times I predicted I needed to visit the doctor. I also factored in the possibility of not being covered and I feel safe knowing that I have access to affordable care regardless of my insurance situation. I've found that it's ridiculously easy to communicate with the staff and my doctor, Evelyn Chu. When it comes to some procedures that may not be covered by my current insurance (like labs for a physical, believe it or not), I was able to coordinate with the office staff so that I could get my labs done at an affordable price. They were happy to refer me to a company that is conveniently close to me. Finally, every time I've gotten blood work or any type of lab work done at One Medical, I get a copy of the results as well as an interpretation from a staff. And, no, it's not that one sentence assurance I've received from many doctors in the past "everything looks fine, you can go home now." I'm talking about a detailed explanation of the lab results as well as an option to ask if I had any questions. To me, this is unheard of. I've gone to a doctor uninsured once to get a physical for a job and was sent a $1500 doctor's fee and a $2000 lab bill a month after the procedure. So, while these experiences may seem inconsequential to others, for me they served as proof of confidence in the practice. I am finally content now that I've found a medical team that I trust. It seems to me that One Medical is one of those very few institutions on yelp that I can really say IS as good as it gets. read more

Let's be honest, not all of us are on top of our own medical needs. I've been working jobs with health benefits for years and never really paid attention to my medical insurance, I've never had a primary care physician, and I don't go to regular doctor's appointments. The long wait times, the shabby offices, rude or uneducated staff, were all things I was fine going without. I'm the kind of person who only bothers with doctors if I am on the brink of death. That is, until I joined One Medical. Just like everyone else I was skeptical of the yearly membership fee, but also just like everyone else I am totally glad I joined and agree the fee is well worth it. Not only do I not mind seeing the doctor, I have been proactively making appointments and actually almost enjoying them (as much as one can enjoy a visit to the doctor). Sure, I'm getting older and I have been feeling like I should be taking better care of myself overall, but the ease of scheduling appointments and communicating with my doctor has made being a member with One Medical a joy. I've come here for women's services, a general physical, blood work, I've even been referred to a specialist - and on all occasions I've been greeted by friendly staff, my appointments started right on time, and any correspondence with my doctor outside of the office has been prompt, convenient, and simple. (To the person who complained about One Medical only staffing PCP and no OB/GYN, if you take the time to read about each PCP on the website, you will see that many of them are well-versed in and do offer women's services, and in the case where you may need to see a specialist, the process could not be more seamless.) read more

I had read about One Medical in a New York Times article, and then saw it again on ZocDoc when I was looking for a new doctor in New York City. I decided to give them a try, and I'd have to say that it was probably the best medical decision I've ever made! I selected Dr. Zarina Pino and she is absolutely incredible. She's very patient, takes excellent notes to follow up on your next unrelated visit, and is so friendly. I've never felt rushed when I've had an appointment with her. In fact, once I ran into Dr. Pino on the street and said "Hi Josh!" and asked me about something from my last visit! Incredible! (All those exclamation points show how great it is lol) Being able to email with a minor question is nice, and the response is always very quick. I received a PDF copy of my lab report with the doctor's evaluation, which was really neat. No need to make a second visit if nothing is wrong. I've also received great referrals from OMG. I've since been to a great specialist and dentist based on Dr. Pino's referral. The office is beautiful and I've never waited more than a few minutes. The doctor comes out to greet you and your entire appointment is with the doctor. The staff is very friendly, as well. I guess the downside to all this is that now I hate that other doctors aren't like One Medical Group :) read more

This is simply the best experience possible. Things run so smoothly, everyone is incredibly professional, and you're able to have lots of communication with your doctor via email (including a PDF of lab results). You can schedule appointments online, they always start on time, and the atmosphere is really warm and welcoming. The doctors take the time to really get to know you, and are incredibly friendly and helpful. I see Dr. Pino and absolutely love her. Cannot say enough positive things. read more

The design of the offices is such that each visit is extremely peaceful and quiet. Appointments have ALWAYS started exactly on time, and the doctors never make you feel rushed. They really take the time to listen to you. As a plus, you can book/reschedule appointments/order prescriptions online through their site, or iPhone app. Definitely worth the $199 a year. read more

I'm entirely perplexed by the rave reviews. I signed up with One Medical because I have a pretty crazy work schedule. Since joining, I've always booked appointments with whichever doctor was available when my schedule briefly freed up. Across the board at this particular Madison Ave. location, I felt like the doctors were young (read: inexperienced), cold and hasty. Within 8-10 minutes of each visit, the doctors would start walking towards the door as if to usher me out. Awkward. I would have no choice but to quickly finish my sentence, gather my items and leave. Were they polite? Yes. But politely hasty. This medical group is convenient if you have no real health concerns and need a no-hassle appointment system for the occasional sniffle here or cough there. I'm definitely not renewing my membership once it expires in a few months. read more

Please do not go to this circus they try to sell as a medical practice. The ones I have seen are generally the most worthless group of physicians I have ever encountered. Why? Glad you asked. Almost any ailment you have they will send you to a specialist. Recently I saw Elizabeth, whose profile brags that she is great at diagnosing even the most "esoteric" of diseases, for a lump that I found in the behind area. Ms. Esoteric took a look and tells me she has never seen that type of lump before! To the specialist I go, thinking this is some odd cyst. The colorectal doctor takes a look and goes, "who sent you here?". I tell him my doctor at One Medical group. He asks, "she said she's never seen this before?". I confirm. He tells me that surprising since IT'S A HEMORRHOID. This beacon of medical knowledge couldn't diagnose a hemorrhoid. Maybe you think because this is a specialty practice they will take time to really work with you on issues and think deeply about how to solve them. You'd be wrong. The thought that they would have to use their medical expertise to make a medical decision on anything off color seems to be too much for them to comprehend. Or at least it seemed that way to me with Alisha and Rachel - two of the esteemed medical practitioners at this practice. Let me explain. I am prescribed a preventative medication (non-addictive, not controlled, just prevention) and will be out of the country for a while so I asked for a long-term supply. You would have thought I was asking them to part the sea. They reached out to colleagues for second opinions like it was cancer, gave me long speeches on how they can't go against the prescribing recommendations and blah blah blah. Rachel sent me to Alisha, a "specialist" in the office who she said might help. Besides wasting my time and my insurance's money, all I got from Alisha is that maybe I should have my mom mail the drug overseas (which I told her multiple times is illegal), come off of it (which would give me a 1 in 8 chance of contracting a disease that could kill me in some areas) or have them prescribe it abroad (where I told her repeatedly it is not approved). She said she could almost guarantee me no doctor would give me a longer prescription because they could "lose their license or get sued". Not factual. Had she told me, "I don't want to", fine. But no I had to sit through lies about losing licenses, lawsuits like this was some CSI episode. The first doctor I went to after her and Rachel gave it to me and applauded me for being proactive with my health. Maybe you think, well I really just need somewhere for when I get sick occasionally, so that should work right? Nope. If your experience is like mine, they will tell you to ride it out and you will walk away with them having confirmed you are sick (as if you didn't already know) but not much else. Not once have I actually got a prescription for an antibiotic. Basically you can light whatever money you were going to spend here on fire instead because at least you will get some amusement from that where with One Medical you will probably get nothing at all (except maybe a referral). Or maybe you have been on maintenance meds for a while and just want an easy place to get them prescribed. NOT TODAY FELICIA. I have two meds I have taken since I am a teenager that my first doctor (surprise!) tried to send me to a specialist to get. I was able to get them only after finding Rachel, who only agreed to prescribe it after having me sign some ridiculous form like I was having a kidney transplant. So whatever your reason for joining One Medical Group, please don't. read more

Very limited weekend hours and most locations close at 7pm on the weekdays. The main point is that I am more than happy to pay $200 to see a doctor after hours - i.e. when I'm not working, but that is not "really" the case. PROs: Great Doctors Take insurance Great about using technology and overall communication is great. Beautiful offices and excellent service CONs: I wanted to join so I wouldn't have to miss work for doctors appointments and they just don't really offer many options on that front: 1. Only ONE office has Saturday hours and it's not even in Midtown, it's down in the meatpacking district. NO office has Sunday hours. 2. They only offer Primary Care, I thought they would at least have a gyno on staff for women's exams 3. The offices close at 7pm on weekdays, which is definitely on the late side for a doctor's office, but there are other doctors that will have late hours once a week or so 4. The lab hours are actually worst than Quest and Lab Corp, they both have hours on the weekend So I canceled my membership, but I would be totally willing to give it another try if they have more weekend locations, later hours (at least once or twice a week) and get a gyno on staff (on the weekends). In the meantime, I'll continue to go to CityMD since they are opened until 10pm and have hours on both Saturday and Sunday. I love the concept of One Medical, since I don't really like going to an "urgent care" clinic. I hope they grow and I can revisit. Just seems to be between CityMD and a just seeing a doctor you can get the same benefits for no membership fee. PLEASE NOTE: Many insurance plans (esp. high deductible plans) charge a lot for CityMD while One Medical only charges a co-payment. So that could be one reason why you might want to join One Medical. read more

I love One Medical Group. It's well-worth the membership fee to be able to schedule appointments online, have e-mail access to my doctor, and have appointments that start on time and and aren't rushed through. My doctor always e-mails me to re-cap things we discussed; it's nice to have something to refer back to if I can't remember everything we talked about. When I get lab work done, my doctor e-mails me a PDF of the lab results, along with her evaluation in terms I can understand. This is how a 21st century doctors office should operate! The phlebotomist even offered me a granola bar when I mentioned I hadn't eaten breakfast yet. And, I got a free water bottle for checking in on Yelp! :) read more

I was seen by a doctor at One Medical for a physical. The problem with One Medical is that they base their appointments using a time frame, typicaly 15 minutes, 20 minutes or 30 minutes for a physical. This is noted on their web site when booking an appointment. I felt rushed by my doctor because he was running late with me and needed to see his next patient. Basically if your illness runs past the doctors given time you will probably will not receive the correct treatment, so the doctor can see his next patient. The feeling is more of having health care in a factory setting than a medical setting. This is more about One Medical's Corporate Objective to increase their Revenue then provide appropriate patient care. read more

I found One Medical Group through my insurance company. As a young and generally healthy women I found the doctor to be friendly, warm and direct. Bedside manner means ALOT to me and the doctors and front desk staff work hard to provide a professional interaction. I was seen on time (waited than less than 5 minutes). My initial appointment was about 30 minutes with Dr. Chu asking me questions about past medical and pharmaceutical history. She gave me feedback on my current status and set some goals for my next follow up visit. As a busy professional with a crazy schedule, I appreciate their promptness, ease of making appointments and manners. I have had good doctors that I have had to leave because of 1 hour+ wait times and unprofessional front desk staff. Why four stars instead of five ... the membership fee. Worth it but still a nuisance. read more

I called this clinic and the rep. said they didn't have that kind of free offer. BUT the rep. helped me to search the place that offers free TB test. I'm living in Queens. If you don't belong to one medical group you are seeing the wrong Doctor! I had an an emergency skin infection where they could see me immediately and on my first visit to the office I was so impressed by the cleanliness, friendliness, modernization , and efficiency of the office. Due to the infection I had to retune 3x and had a few calls with the 24 hour hotline to help determine some symptoms. The hotline got back to me in a speedy manner and were very helpful. I am definitely moving forward with them as my primary care and highly suggest them to anyone! read more

I saw a doctor at this location and it was great to get advice out of the latest issue of Self Magazine. I LOVE OneMedical! I'm in my third year with them, and I adore my doctor, the atmosphere and the service. When I started I had no insurance and I like that for the membership fee, I also had the ability to just call or email my doctor, so she often gave me advice via email without having to actually come in and pay for a visit! Dr. Pino is amazing and understanding! She learned very quickly that I have financial issues and that I am very much conservative when it comes to treatment. She never tries to push anything on me, and definitely is compassionate about my concerns. It is a lovely office, that I HIGHLY recommend to anyone with or without insurance. You need to keep in perspective how best you can leverage the One Medical Team. If I had heart palpitations this wouldn't be my first stop. If you have a minor physical ailment or feel flu symptoms coming on..and you need a same day appointment and be seen as soon as you arrive then this is your place. I recently hurt my calf and the Dr. diagnosed as "probably a torn muscle", they made the appointment at the Radiologist and sent over all the insurance information so all I had to do was sign when I got there. After the images came back they sent them to the Orthopedic I was going to use; along with all my insurance information. When I got the the Ortho....just signed the papers. I work in the city and they are usually the perfect prescription for what ails me. read more

I joined as a member because I'm tired of waiting forever to get appointments at PCPs offices and sick of waiting during appointments! So far my experience has been sub-par - appointments are limited and Not once have I been able to see an MD - it seems only PAs and NPs are available - nothing against them but I would prefer to see an MD especially since I'm already paying out of pocket - I'm in the medical field as well. I feel as though all the ads that sold me into paying for membership were not necessarily true. I'm disappointed. My insurance doesn't require me to get authorization from PCP so I don't need to see them to go to a specialist. I guess they're good for those times when you get sick and need a quick prescription. Overall I'm just disappointed with my experience so far. read more

My experience exceeded my expectations: clean and attractive offices, courteous and friendly staff, and medical staff (in my case, Dr. Feda) is professional, knowledgeable and personable. Great design of offices. Amazing responsiveness that I have not even received with Housecall Services. No wait time to enjoy the waiting room as I was seen on time. There were even new and current magazines. The physician I saw was amazing, took her time, listened and responded to my concerns and spoke of ways to prevent getting the same illness again. I had a really unfortunate experience with One Medical. I understand that their goal is to run like a business, but I did not expect that they would do that at the expense of appropriate medical care. I am on a few medications that I have taken for years at a stable dose, and at every visit my medical condition has been unchanged. For years, my doctors would renew those medications as long as my medical condition did not change and I came for yearly checkups. I started seeing Dr. Lamarre at One Medical. Every time I asked for a refill of my medications, she insisted that I come in for a visit. At first I complied, but each visit was the same - she would ask how I was doing, I would say unchanged, and she would write the prescription. Nothing else would be done. I began to realize that the only reason they were forcing me to come in each time was so that they could bill for the visit. I raised this with Dr. Lamarre and asked if I could come only if something changed and she refused. I asked her to explain why I needed to come every time for a refill, and she said this was just the office policy. I have now switched to a new doctor whose approach was the same as all of my doctors in the past. I hope that others do not get subjected to this money focused business model that does not care about the patient. read more

After being told that the earliest that I could see a doctor at my regular providers office was 2 months away (see my review if that office), I decided to try one medical. A better choice could not have been made. Everyone in the office was kind and professional and my appt began precisely on time. I was seen by Dr Romeo. She immediately made me feel at ease and was very focused on my total health rather than just writing prescriptions. I received an email from her thanking me for my visit and once my lab results were back, I received a detailed explanation of all the findings along with her thoughts on a plan of action going forward. She is changing some of my medications as well as discontinuing some, but she also offered suggestions about other ways to improve my health. This was such a positive experience that I almost want to call and thank my previous provider for being the catalyst that sent me looking elsewhere. There is a yearly fee to join one medical, but it's barely the cost of 1 lunch per month. Money well spent. read more
