I had a massage a couple weeks ago and it was TERRIBLE!! I told the woman I had a bunch of knots in my shoulders and asked for her to do the deep tissue massage. I didn't get any of that. It felt like she was petting me the entire time. On top of that she wouldn't stop talking to me. I pay for a massage to relax, not make friends. Also, did I mention the rolling chair she sat in the entire time was super loud and distracting! I couldn't relax whatsoever. I would never recommend this place to anyone, unless you want to be pet by another person. I've had a handful of massages here and the massages themselves have been fine. This past visit the therapist accidentally unplugged the clock right before she started my hour long massage. When she finished, the clock was blinking 12:41, so I received only a 41 minute massage. I voiced my concern at checkout and the receptionist was very rude. She stated that's how long an hour massage lasts. I told her I would have expected 50 minutes at the very least (some places allow 10 minutes for changing) but she stated 45 minutes is standard for an hour massage. (And I didn't even receive that amount!) I get massages regularly and have never experienced this absurd policy anywhere else. I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Definitely a less than impressive massage. I opted to get a deep tissue massage hoping for relief from a headache I was experiencing. Not only did I not leave feeling relaxed or refreshed, I left confused as to what had just happened. Surely that was not a spa massage. I wish I would have followed the suggestion of other reviews and avoided this place but I was desperate. I will say their prices are quite a bit less than most others, but the massage I received still wasn't worth the $45. My time was cut very short, the therapist wasn't wearing shoes and had some very bizarre techniques I didn't quite care for. Even when I complained the pressure was too much and painful she continued. I wish I would have followed my better judgement and made the trek to carrollwood to visit hand and stone, my tried and true. I'm still giving two stars because the staff was friendly, the spa seemed clean and the prices were great. Maybe someone else would enjoy this style of massage but I sure didn't, she was practically gently scratching my hands and feet. read more

I was at this location for 1 hour of massage and waxing. The massage itself was ok but I payed for 1 hr and only received 40 minutes. The waxing was absolutely a nightmare. I have wax left all over me and many spots of legs were clearly untouched although paid for. It took 2 hrs to do Brazilian and full legs ( my legs are still full of hair). OMG! A friend gave me a gift certificate to get a massage at a Essential massage. I am not one for a massage however, this was the most unbelievable experience of my life. I work on a computer all day long hence my back shoulders are always tight. My massage therapist was Shirley she was extremely pleasant. The massage was incredible and my back sounded like a Rice Krispies treat. I definitely will be back!!! If you want a great massage ask for Shirley. read more

I am very sad to have to write a negative review however, I have to tell it like it is. I had scheduled a DEEP TISSUE 90 massage and prior to starting, the "therapist" asked what areas I would like her to focus on, I told her....I restated deep tissue and told her the harder the better due to all of the knots that I had. During the "massage" I at times wondered is she was even touching me or if she fell asleep. My areas of focus were not addressed and frankly I almost asked her to stop about 30 minutes in because it was not beneficial in any way but I wanted to give her the benefit of doubt. I began to wonder if she even had proper training and frankly I can give a better massage. Long story short, I frankly paid for someone to put lotion on my body for 90 minutes, it was very very disappointing. I will unfortunately will not be going back....wasted hard earned money and limited free time of my life. read more

As for the massage itself, it was a deep tissue massage and it was very good. The part I have an issue with are these massage businesses that think it's okay to charge you for an hour and give you a 45-minute massage, or in my case, charge you for a 90-minute massage and give you a 69-minute massage. My appointment was at noon on 11/27/18. My therapist started the massage at 12:12. I know because she had a digital clock on a case in the room. Wanting to know how much time was left in the massage, I, on my back, kept trying to see the clock. I couldn't see enough of the display to see the time because of the position I was in. My therapist ended the massage and instructed me to take my time and get dressed, that she would be waiting just outside the door. As she was finishing my massage, she placed a black shroud over the face of the clock. When she left the room I moved the shroud and saw it was 1:21. read more

Well, this is the third time I've been to this spa. Atmosphere, great! First visit I had a facial and a relax massage. Facial was awesome, My face/skin never felt so great and wow, my makeup went on great for weeks after! Massage was ok, I was relaxed I guess, but left thinking my husband can do this. Second visit was just for a facial and unfortunately the girl I had last time is no longer there. This facial, well, it was ehh. I felt no difference in my skin this time. So, on to visit three. I go in thinking, Third time is a charm and gonna be great! I'm gonna do deep tissue since I've had some issues with my neck/shoulder recently. Ok, well my bad I guess I didn't fully understand what kind of massage this is. She definitely focused on my problem area for like almost the whole session... OMG pain. I didn't know (again my bad) I thought it hurt because it was a problem area for me. After a long time I did let on that it was hurting me and my therapist did back off some but then kinda rushed through the rest and I left feeling relaxed. But oh boy, the next day, I feel like someone beat me up. The therapist did tell me that she would make a note in my file about who she thought would be better for me and less "aggressive." On to the facial, felt good, is the European Deluxe. Ok, leave that to get dressed for my Deluxe pedi. OMG, my face is all red and splotchy? Wait, what? It feels almost swollen. Hmm. On to the "Deluxe Pedi" well, I'm not sure what is deluxe about this pedi. Literally cut my nails, removed a couple small ingrown's (which btw she did do great,) quick file, rubbed some soap on my legs, and a little file on my heels and painted my toes. No scrub on legs, no scrub on feet, and no massage. You get way more than that at a regular nail salon with just a basic pedicure. I can't imagine what their basic pedi consists of? Anyway, I wont be back even though I have $7 credit because the girl behind the desk forgot that 2 of my services were Thursday specials and charged me regular price but it was too late when I realized it... I leave the regular nail salon after a fill (nails) and a regular pedi feeling pretty good for less than a third of what this cost me. Not worth the money if you ask me. read more
