After watching lots of different online videos of hair spas I decided to look for local options and…read morelanded on Toma Head Spa! I looked into their services and decided to give it a try -- at first I was a bit hesitant because I have very curly hair and I was unsure if this was going to be a good service for my hair type. I booked my appointment online which was quick and easy - I will not that you have to have a card on file because you will be charged a fee for last minute cancellations. The Spa is located inside a suite and they have a parking lot next to it so that was very convenient. I was a bit confused when entering because you have to buzz in through a doorbell camera - but they answered quickly and let me back. I got there a bit early and was directed to a cute waiting area and offered a water. The visit started with a close up analysis of my scalp then we proceeded with the service. When I say this was absolutely one of the most relaxing experiences I had by far I mean it! I was checked on throughout the service for my preferred temperature and pressure. I did the Rejuvenating Deep Cleanse - in addition to a head massage it came along with a small massage of my upper body! At the end of the service my scalp felt renewed and refreshed! My favorite part of the experience was the waterfall head sink -it felt wonderful! We ended the appointment with an after close up of my scalp - and I could definitely tell the difference! I would 100% return for a such a unique relaxing experience!

For many St Pete families, this has been an incredibly challenging season. Through some magic of…read morethe algorithm, burned-out after two of the most stressful weeks of my life, I saw a post by the generous owner of Toma Head Spa offering to support those impacted by the hurricanes. I cried and messaged her with embarrassment that I had not had a wash day in over a week (we returned from Milton evacuation to unexpectedly find sewage backflow). She booked me an appointment for the following afternoon. To say I felt pampered doesn't even cover it. From start to finish my whole experience was one of kindness, gentleness and care. Traffic was a disaster so I was running late, and then on top of that I went to the wrong location (don't make the same mistake I did, they have a studio in Salon Sequence, which has more than one location in St Pete; Toma is on 1st Ave N close to US-19, whereas at first I accidentally went to a Central Ave address). Tania greeted me at the entrance, and we walked to their quiet fully private space, where she explained the services to me and discussed my hair type to make sure my treatment would have the best results. My hair is dense + thick 3A curly, and was quite knotted when I arrived, which Tania let me know isn't ideal as they are not a salon, but she completely understood the circumstances and rolled with it, brushing me out gently before getting into the treatment. It's important to note that Toma is staffed by licensed estheticians, not cosmetologists, so their goal is to treat the skin, not deal with any styling of hair. This said, it was amazing to see with their special camera tool just how stressed my scalp was when I arrived- flaky with natural and product buildup, irritated in some areas, and overall an accurate reflection of how gross and exhausted I was feeling. After changing into a spa robe and getting on the table, I was treated to an hour of steam, massage, shampoos, aromatherapy, and cascading water from their unique head spa fountain. It was the most calming, relaxing experience, so much different than other treatments I've had. I'm no stranger to facials or massage, but something about the scalp given particular attention was so rejuvenating and restorative. And the results were undeniable- a repeat look at my scalp showed a completely different situation than when I'd arrived. Clean and fresh, with healthy open follicles; it was so satisfying to see the results, but even more-so to take in how different I felt after the session. The sense of relief and peace after 90 minutes focused on taking care of me was the best transformation. I am now a regular client and am looking forward to my next session. Thank you Tania and the Toma team for truly turning around a tough time for me.

I never would have thought I'd be a cold plunge girlie, but the reset is amazing! After turning up the heat with a hot yoga session in the Hotworx sauna, I popped over to Arctic Bath and into a cold plunge for a cool five minutes of recovery. Wear something you can get wet in, like a bathing suit, and I recommend bringing a change of clothes for after. But once you're ready, their friendly team guides you through everything, and they provide water gloves and shoes to protect your digits from the cold. Their team member stays with you every step of the way, and they talked me through my first few seconds of trying to catch my breath, reminding me to breathe in through my nose and out through my mouth. Sounds silly, but you truly forget how to breathe for a few seconds at first when that cold water hits. But then, my body kind of numbs up and I can easily sit in the tub for the full five minutes. But don't worry, you can definitely do less time than that if you want. When I went for the party, my friends and I used the tubs on the other side of the room, where two people can sit in each tub. This time, I used the single person tub. I liked that their filtration system keeps things clean and sanitized, something I was always worried about when I heard about cold plunges. When it's time to get out, they help you through that, too, and then wrap you in a warm robe. Before you plunge, you have the opportunity to order a coffee or matcha latte from their delicious menu - hot or iced - and it's waiting for you when you get out of the tub. Overall, I really loved my experience and prefer the contrast therapy of a nice heated workout before the plunge. I'll definitely be back again.

But he had an active website and scheduling form, so I bought the Groupon and took a chance. He called me promptly to confirm the appointment, and it's honestly one of the best massages I've had in Tampa. The location is easy to find, and there's plenty of parking. His business is inside a covered office park, but there's a helpful sign to guide your way. The courtyard itself is unique to the area and very relaxing. Angel has a very friendly demeanor and great technique. He listened intently to my needs and addressed them purposefully. One gripe I have about most massage therapists is that they'll focus on the areas you specify, but then they'll move on to other areas just because it's "part of the service." Angel didn't do that. He spent the majority of time on my areas of need and not much on the peripherals. My whole right side thanks him! The ambience of the spa is a bit different from most places. Instead of ambient music, Pandora played top hits. It made for a casual experience rather than a "spa day" one, which I wasn't expecting but did not dislike. Typically, I will buy a Groupon to a place and not go back. I'll have to make an exception for Angel, because his technique, attention, and results were top notch. I highly recommend him!
