I use Essex Mail Mart on occasion. Helpful, friendly easy to work with, when they're open!!! Today is Saint Patrick's Day, they are closed, the sign said closed early for St. Patrick's Day. I've used this mail convenience store for UPS shipping services several times in the past and always felt that their pricing was high. This past Christmas, it seems as if the prices were even higher than before. So I experimented. I took a small box that weighed about 3 pounds and ask them to price regular UPS ground rates from the East Coast to the West Coast. The quote was approximately $80. I then took the very same box to a Staples store and requested the same quote (Staples is an authorized UPS shipping service agent). I was more than a little shocked to find out that the quote I received from Staples was approximately $35. Needless to say, I won't be doing business with the Essex Mail Mart any longer!! read more

With new owners, Essex Mail Mart is welcoming and friendly. I took two framed pieces to have them packed and shipped. Jayden was wonderful. I have seen reviews saying the woman who works there is rude. Well their right! You work in a customer service business but you are short, curt and void of all personality. Makes me want to not come here again. I am sure this hurts the business. I will avoid this place if I can. I don't need people like that in my life even if they are just providing a service to me. read more

The woman who waited on me was spectacularly unhelpful and unpleasant. Responded to my questions with vague answers like "I don't know" or "it depends" and after a while, I just gave up and left. She had told me it would cost $134.00 minimum to mail my package, claiming the high cost was because it was going to a remote town. I was able to mail it elsewhere for $44.00. Next time, I'll drive the extra half hour to Clinton UPS store, where at least the people who wait on you are polite and knowledgeable. read more

Rudeness is the rule, not the exception here. Because we don't have a facility that provides these services closer to our home, we would utilize their services by default, but no more. For some reason, the woman who is co-owner of this business feels no compulsion to treat her customers with respect. I get the inflated prices; after all,this isn't the post office, but every response to even the most basic questions is delivered in loud, curt, clipped tones that leave you feeling stupid. If the Soup Man opened a delivery/fax/shipping business, it would be Mail Mart. My wife needed to return an item to the vendor in Florence, Italy. The vendor have specific instructions that the suite # needed to be on the label, or it would be returned. When my wife pointed this out to the woman, and kindly tried to point this out, the woman exploded and snapped at my wife. For what? This is just one example out of at least a dozen. You're better off driving the extra 15 miles up to FedEx in Waterford than dealing with these folks. read more
