Well-kept property in a quiet neighborhood 15-20 mins from Palm Springs. Great view of San Jacinto…read morefrom the pool deck. The host, Eric, is friendly and great with communication. Highly recommend.

Do NOT stay here. The place looks great in the pictures, but it is not. It is not updated at all…read more Bathroom and shower are old and uninviting. Small old shower feels unclean as does the whole place. Smells musty and feels unclean over all. Living room rug does not appear to have been vacuumed since the 50's. Neat and nicely decorated, but not clean and fresh feeling. Old, worn, mismatched small towels. Same with the sheets. Was told there is a "day bed" that can be used for a comfortable bed. Not the case at all. It is a cool looking 50's couch (small and uncomfortable). Not in any stretch a "bed". After you book, you get an email telling you not to leave anything in the car or hide it in the trunk if you do and to close the shades and lock the windows anytime you leave. It is not in a safe area. I learned after booking that Desert Hot Spring is not a very safe. But the worst part is the host, Eric. Super weird and downright scary man. He lashed out at us aggressively on the phone when we told him we did not want to stay due to the above reasons and he got so hostile so quickly to the point we fled the place scared that he was on the way over to harm us. Never experienced anything like this before and have stayed at many rentals. Also, after you book you get an email that if you want to use the hot tub, it will cost you another $100 per day. The host is nuts and scary. He makes the place look cool but the reality is it is not clean and smells bad. The host would not refund us. Don't stay here!!

We stayed in Unit #3 for two nights in April and, unfortunately, it fell far short of our…read moreexpectations. Here's why I can only give it one star: Stale, musty room: On arrival the air felt heavy and the dishes were still dirty--guests are expected to wash, dry and put away every pot and plate before checking out. There's no housekeeping, no daily room service--this operates more like an Airbnb than a hotel. Worn furnishings: Several pieces showed visible wear, and the reading lamp above our bed hung loosely from its cord. Unwelcoming plunge pool: There are no chairs or loungers, it isn't heated, and with 45 mph winds whisking through the courtyard, our so-called "pool time" lasted about five minutes. Remote location: A 25-minute drive to downtown Palm Springs, surrounded by modest residential streets and few shops or restaurants. The only local gem--Cabot's Pueblo Museum--is worth the trip out, but don't expect dining or nightlife within walking distance. Constant high winds: We couldn't use the patio or outdoor seating at all. Everywhere else in the valley was calm, so it wasn't just seasonal. We would have happily taken a refund and rebooked closer to town--there are so many charming alternatives (Trixie Motel, Korakia, Tommy Bahama's Mira Monte). Unless you're on a Mid-Century Modern tour that includes Lautner's work, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. I was also very disappointed that we were expected to do dishes, take out trash, etc. This was not presented as an Airbnb style accomodation. Why are we paying a cleaning fee if all they are doing is swapping linens? We were super excited but very disappointed.

The owner Tracy is a crazy and deceptive. I happen to notice it on my credit card and texted her on 5/3. She was sneaky and sleazy about it, which I believe is because she has done this before and most people don't notice. It is fraudulent. When we texted her to find out why, she went on a rant about how lucky we are to have stayed there and said the kitchen floor was messy, the furniture had been moved and vase was on the floor. None of which are reason to charge a damage fee. When I sent videos of the AC leaking and told her and we had cleaned it up so the vase had to be moved to dry the furniture, and the kitchen floor was normal cleaning, she went ballistic trying to bully us into accepting the charges as "extra cleaning fees" and wrote literally, "I expect the unit returned exactly as it was found at the time of check in". I am not easily bullied and as a landlord myself and a person with an excellent rating on AirBnB, I know manipulation and scamming when I see it. They require the guests to wash the dishes by hand and put them back (so beware if you stay, because those dishes are not sanitary!) so we washed/dried every dish by hand and put it away. She said the towels were dirty, we never used the towels! She said the furniture was moved, we turned 2 chairs to face the couch so we could play cards! She has been nothing less than hostile and attacking when I attempted to reason with her about the charges. I filed a report with Better Business Bureau (see ID#:23291502) because I'm sure she has done this before and I'm not sure what recourse a person has against this kind of fraud. By her own description it was for cleaning towels, moping the floor and wiping down the couch, no damage was done that would warrant a Damage Deposit fee. She admitted it was an "extra cleaning fee". The first picture below is is the leaking AC unit I sent her telling her why the vase was moved. The rest are from the video she sent to me as her justification for keeping $100 of our damage deposit for the "moved furniture" (she is talking about is the chairs are turned towards the coffee table). The couch was a used old soft leather couch and had many natural scuffs when we got there, we did nothing to it. Take a look her video of the kitchen and tell me if you think we left it a mess? Seriously, BEWARE, she is stealing from guests because most won't go to the effort I have to try to prevent it. If you see this and she has done it to you please contact me.
