Excellent food, meat cooked when ordered infront of you. Good portions. The picture of the meal I included was $12, not does break the budget and you will feel satisfied. $5 burritos on Friday too!!

If we could give this place 42 stars, we would!!! Some of the most amazing Mexican food we have ever eaten! We were just in town for one night and took a chance with this restaurant. My family ate it all so quickly that this is the only photo I could take. We got four different burritos with different kinds of meat and toppings. We also got a burrito bowl, a quesadilla, and some chips and queso. Highly recommend this place to everyone!

AMAZING FOOD! HUGE burrito and a cheese chicken quesadilla. Honestly one of the best quesadillas I've ever had. Portions were large and the price was fair! Would definitely recommend!!

Pleasantly surprised by Mexican food in the Midwest as a Californian. Ordered a burrito bowl with carnitas, total was about $10 and the portion was generous for the price. They didn't skimp on the meat and the rice was really well seasoned. Will definitely be back!

Big chunks of soft fatty bacon pulled from my breakfast burrito

My daughter and I came here for a breakfast burrito and wanted a simple eggs, bacon and potatoes with a small amount of beans. The burrito was not very good at all. There were large chunks of soft bacon that seemed to be steamed or boiled. I pulled the bacon out of the burrito and ate it without. I didn't add all the toppings since my daughter likes things pretty plain. But honestly, if it's not good plain then the toppings would just cover the flavor. Not impressed on my first visit.

This place was such a nice surprise! We had about 15 minutes before an event at The Graduate and wanted to grab something quick. Typically you can have food which is fast or you can have food which is good. In this case, it was both. My fiancé and I split three tacos, which were prepared before us, with fresh ingredients, and we were blown away by how incredible they were. Not only was the food prepared quickly, it was good, and the staff was incredibly friendly. I would certainly recommend this place for anyone looking to get something quick in the downtown area.

The BEST tortillas. Personal favorite is the Light and Fresh Breakfast burrito (vegetarian option!). Queso is worth the extra price.

Ask the Community - Estela's Fresh Mex

Why is there a service fee on online orders (even when you come pick it up) when the only way to order is online?

Are there vegan options? (or at least, are the tortillas, beans and rice vegan?) Thanks

What I mean by that is, it does not look like a Mexican restaurant. But it EXCELS at Mexican cuisine. I highly recommend ordering anything you'd see at a Mexican restaurant. The drinks: The Blueberry Fields drink was good but pricey given the size and wasn't "blueberry" enough for my husband. I liked it, but I'd want it by the mason jar, and that would be super expensive. I had the hibiscus margarita and it was *very* enjoyable. The food: My husband had the Des Moines Po' Boy. I wish he would have realized that he was basically getting a sub. He liked the soft bread. Overall though, he wasn't impressed. He said it was kind of bland. But he loved the fries and ranch. I had the puerco en salsa verde--this dish is incredible! Really tender chunks of pork in a rich tomatillo salsa verde with beans and rice. The only thing that could be better is if there were 3 fresh corn tortillas instead of 2. There is so much rich, delicious, saucy pork to eat, that you need 3 to enjoy it all. The tortillas are fresh made too. So yummy! In summary: Go here and enjoy all the Mexican dishes!

If you are familiar with an old Iowa City bar called the mill, there are pieces of there here The food was plentiful and tasted great. I had the brisket po boy tender cooked brisket and a tasty BBQ sauce The totally was under 40 for two of us.

The environment is not clean; the surfaces are covered in dust and grime. My menu had not just wet water on it from wiping but the water was brown ... cleaning does not count if it's with dirty water. There was a hair in my quesadilla. The waitress really didn't handle it well. She kind of said she was sorry and giggled not in a rude way but just awkwardly. She wasn't going to take it off the ticket ... I didn't think I needed to ask since I had just started eating it, found the hair, and asked for her to take it away. When I did ask, she did take it off the ticket. I only gave a 2 because my husband actually liked his food. Both of us agreed however, we would not return. I get this is a college town restaurant, but cleanliness is still important.

I remember this as "one eye Jake's" to date myself from the early 2000s. I just missed happy hour, but it goes on from 3 to 6 Monday through Friday. I believe includes half-price appetizers and I think they might have a taco special too. They have basic street style tacos, which were delicious at three dollars apiece at regular price. The chorizo stood out and the Barbacoa was very good way better than what you find at chipotle. The revamping the menu and have a new Mexican chef and from what I saw I want to come back for the food alone. I've traveled to Cabo San Lucas, and even lived in Mexico, and this is the real deal - made by an authentic Mexican chef from Morales. The queso was dope with real white cheese. Super cool bartender. And even though my days of standing in line at the club are over, the set up was just like I remember it with two levels - so if you're gonna go, have a good time, just make sure not to be a D bag bro. Cheers.
