I have been bringing my 4.5 pound chihuahua here since 2020. I had been happy until a recent visit with Dr Jenna Maddox. My dog has a seizure disorder which this hospital has been managing for 6 years. The onset of his disorder happened after he a set of puppy shots including rabies. Due to this issue we have always refused vaccines. This has never been a problem until 6/13/26 when Jenna Maddox decided pushing vaccines is more important than my dogs health. She suggested I get a vaccine waiver from my previous vet who I saw from 2018-2019 and has since retired, sold his practice and moved to the Fla Keys. They have taken care of my pet for 6 or his 8 years being alive and yet Jenna Maddox refused a vaccine exemption. The office manager said "no rabies vaccine, no service" so if you value your pets health over corporate policies keep searching for a privately owned vet office! That's what I intend to do! I inquired about going to this vet, and am posting this as a warning for anyone considering going to this vet (Estero) or getting a puppy from MandMAussiesofNorthCarolina. Dr. Mary Holly Castro (who works at Estero) owns MandMAussiesofNorthCarolina, now in Florida. After also looking for a second Aussie puppy, I saw their GoFundMe page they started for their dog, Nola. They bred Nola for multiple litters without doing any hip testing first--which is the bare minimum for any responsible breeding program. It turns out Nola didn't get checked until she was three and she was then diagnosed with Grade III Hip Dysplasia, the most severe form there is. This was done by a a licensed DVM! The OFA has charts posted on their website that says a female with Grade III Hip Dysplasia paired with a male with Good (Passing) OFA hips still produces 31.5% puppies with hip dysplasia, meaning a litter of 9 will have 3 puppies with hip dysplasia. That's IF they tested the male's hips. No wonder she is not on the team members section of their website. At AKC puppy prices, two or more litters that they had from her could have been used to replace Nola's hips multiple times over. So why wait six years and then ask complete strangers to pay for it on GoFundMe? To me, it's a massive red flag regarding the ethics of this program and this vet clinic as a whole. read more

We have been clients with two dogs for 6 years. They started out great and have since been bought out by a large veterinarian chain. The veterinarians and the staff no longer give a darn about our babies. After spending thousands of dollars in December and January for numerous procedures and tests, these uncaring, hateful people refused to email two refill prescriptions to a pet pharmacy for routine maintenance allergy medications. Their excuse: They don't work with 3rd party pharmacies! The real reason is because they want you to purchase drugs from their practice where they charge in excess of 300% of the price we can purchase these same well established drugs from another pharmacy. They are rude, hateful, uncaring and no longer care about the animals. The only thing they give a darn about is how much money they can extract from your pocket! If you're thinking of going here, I hope you will join me in reconsidering finding a Veterinarian practice where the animals come first! I have located what appears to be two clinics which are independently owned: 1) Just 4 Pets and 2) Still Waters, both in Fort Myers. We have not visited them yet, but intend to get established with one of them in the next few weeks. Although this happens several years ago, I still wanna put this review up. I'm not quite sure why it didn't post it sooner. My dog had a cough and they gave him antibiotics. The antibiotics didn't get rid of the cough so I kept trying to call and get either another prescription or get him seen again. They would not return my call. This happened over and over again. Eventually, I had to show up and make a scene just to get my dog seen. If your business is too big to take care of your existing dogs, then you should stop accepting your clients. Fast forward to now, and our little allergic dog needed attention, despite the current coronavirus situation., do we made an appointment. We bring all three dogs here. One of our dogs went blind and had an infection in the eyeball and the dog optometrist couldn't do the surgery for 10 days and a lot of money. Estero Animal hospital made sue they fit our fur baby in that day at half the cost. He is doing fantastic now. We now have another furbaby who has been diagnosed with lymphoma who is pretty far in the advanced stages. They have been so kind to us and Moose, making sure he is comfortable and it is about quality of life for him. Ok I will start by saying I had an appt with the vet tech to get her shots and nails cut. I was told last visit to give her a lorazepam before we come because she gets extremely nervous. Got there and was informed the person that made my appt messed up because she needs to see the vet prior to shots. So they reschedule my appt w/o even asking me if the date was ok and it's now a week later. So now I have to drug her again and waste more of my time. This place is a zoo. My husband brought our dog and a bloody sample of stool in to get some answers. They saw Dr. Mark and he prescribed $120 worth of pills without even looking at the sample. When I called and spoke to Dr. Mark to ask if we should be concerned about our dog's health he admitted that he had never even looked at the sample because he "didn't want to be sick to his stomach". I would not recommend entrusting your pet's health to someone who is unwilling to do their job as a medical provider. Update: prescription cost was actually $70.48 and exam fees and testing totaled around $150. Two days after my initial post to yelp I met with co-owner (Dr. Larry) who was polite and professional enough to hear my concerns out. While I personally do not feel comfortable bringing my pets to Dr. Mark, I will continue to visit Estero Animal Hospital and the other vets they have on staff. read more

I've been going here for almost 7 yrs with my dog and cat. Dr. Mark is our vet of choice. He's caring, calm, listens and doesn't rush our visit. I have seen a few other vets as well and I'd rocommend them in a heartbeat. Very large facility conveniently located off of Corkscrew Road. Parking lots is small and at the rear of the property. I scheduled an appointment for 1:00 one day just to show up and have them tell me it was at 2. This was definitely a mistake on their end as I made the appointment over the phone. They don't even send you a confirmation email or phone call for your appointment which would have been appreciated. I didn't like how my kitten couldn't explore the room while we waited for the doc because they left the doors open and when they cut his nails he screamed his head off which didn't happen the next time at a different vet. Then.. the staff/doc failed to tell me when to take the pressure bandage off so when I came home after going to class my kittens foot was TWICE THE SIZE. I called and told them I was going to another vet to cancel my next appointment and they didn't seem to care why. Luckily my kittens foot was fine. First time going there this week. Brought my 2 new Chihuahua puppies there for their final booster shots. The tech was super nice & helpful. We saw Dr. Larry, he was very kind & very thorough. He did not rush thru the appt, in fact he took a seat while in there! He was gentle and loving to my Babies and I think the main thing I truly appreciated was that he asked me a few times.......do you have any other questions or concerns? Most docs, (whether for animals or humans) hesitate to ask that because it could mean more time with the patient. I've heard great things about this beautiful place and it all seems to be true!! About 8 months ago I brought my kitten in for a surgery to get spade with Dr. David. Throughout my entire experience prior to her procedure, Dr. David and the rest of the staff continuously explained to me how problematic my 4 pound kitten was and required me to give her a dose of Gabopentin before each standard visit and it was very apparent that this vet did not like cats, especially Zaza. The day of the surgery I received a voicemail from Dr. David stating that there was a problem and he couldn't do the surgery, but that she was stable and comfortable and doing "good." When I called him back he explained that there was a chance he "overshot" her anesthesia and as a result, she was in cardiac arrest. Not only did he downplay the situation when he left the voicemail, but when I immediately got to the office, he passed her off to me to take her to the ER, where she proceeded to have multiple seizures and I ended up having to put her down. I'm writing this review now because it has been almost a year and they continuously send me emails and texts about taking Zaza in for a visit. This tells me that they did not properly report the incident and were also not competent enough to take me and my kitten out of their system. Everyone is so very kind and welcoming! When I've had a weepy visit due to concern for my senior dog Dixie, I remember how caring Lisa was at the front desk. The last visit though, Dixie is doing good thankfully! Calls are returned so fast, as are emails with Beth and repeat prescriptions handled so efficiently. This place is terribly disorganized. When my dog Teddy was elderly they did not recommend anything to help him. He was coughing I told the vet he could have taken an X-ray to view his trachea but didn't. Teddy started shaking when he coughed couldn't get him in So took him to angel hair animal hospital they took X-ray and found he had collapsed trachea and they gave him cough syrup which helped the Estero doctor never recommended anything. They suggested I put him on the special canned diet . Put the cans of food on my bill and I make my dogs fresh food so I returned and they would not give my money back just a credit. After Teddy passed away. I was trying to adopt a rescue dog the reception area told the rescue that I don't give my dog heartworm. I have 2 dogs they did not look at the other dogs notes to find out. Tilly had her teeth cleaned they charged for someone else's charges and I noticed they had to fix it. It was $400 more. The last straw is that I took my new rescue dog to get checked. He had parasites so I brought Tilly's stool in to have checked they charged me and someone lost the stool. I'm done with this place. read more

All my dogs have been seen at this hospital, so this wasn't a call for a new pet. My 14 year old dog was having trouble breathing and needed to be seen immediately. They told me they could get me in a week or could do a drop off in 2 days. Or take him somewhere else, they are too over booked. Sadly Ranger died in my arms, trying to call other vets. Such a disappointment. If I cannot get my dog in when he's dying, what good is a good rating on health checks and regular appointments. No compassion. And this is off season. read more

Ridiculous. Had my dog spayed because she had a so called abnormality, a month later she's back at the office leaking fluids!!! Dr Kirk performed the surgery on my puppy and we never saw him again! Point is he's not a specialist so he shouldn't have performed this type of surgery on my puppy! To make a long story short? Had to take her to a specialist only to pay $5,500 to fix the situation & from the start all they had to do was point us to the specialist from the beginning that is literally not even 10 minutes from their clinic! Goes to show you what type of clinic this place is!!! Any way the only time they might see me again might be in a court room! Not to mention that the nurse on duty forced me to pay the full balance of almost $2,000 on the spot! I should have known something was up just by that unprofessional approach! Dr. Kirk and Dr. Larry (they go by their first names at this hospital) are great; their facility is clean and obviously well-maintained. The staff are friendly (up to the point of taking my number for a call-back because their computers were down when I wanted to make an appointment), and they offer evening appointments, which is really convenient for working pet-owners. They are always gentle with our dog, and are genuinely concerned if we have any questions about his care. Additionally, their fees are more than reasonable (a recent general exam for my dog was under $50). II would highly recommend them to any pet owners in the area. read more
