Needed follow up care from a hiking injury at RMNP. While I was being checked in by Maria, the other two receptionists had a spat right behind her head. Maria kept her task at hand (getting me checked in), but the disruption was indicative of the rest of the visit: disjointed and unproductive. On the first day, we visited Rocky Mountain National Park and went on a hike. My dad injured his knee on one of the hikes, so I took him to the hospital's Emergency Room. The service he received from the staff, nurses, and doctor was top-notch. Granted, the facility was rather smaller than what I am accustomed to, but it had high-tech equipment. They had a mobile X-ray machine to take images of my dad's knee. We were in and out in no time. read more

They never got back to me once, and sent my bill to a collection agency. They are uncommunicative and punitive. I just spent two days in the Estes Park Medical Center and was pleasantly surprised. I had heard negative things about this hospital so I was not expecting to get the excellent care that I received while I was there. The entire hospital staff from the Doctors, Nurses, Respiratory Therapist were all so nice and took such wonderful care of me. They all knew what they were doing and I was very confident in under their care. Even the food service staff was kind and accommodating and the food was good. Overall it was a very good experience. We were in town like many people to visit Rocky Mountain NP when my wife was feeling the effects of higher altitudes. This hospital was fantastic. Everyone we came across in the ER was attentive, caring, and friendly. After doing the necessary COVID tests and ruling her as negative I was able to stay with her. The ER doc even arranged for me to be able to stay the night with her as they admitted her for observation. Great staff, hope I never have to use their services in the future but if I'm in the area and in need of an ER I'd go there without hesitation. read more

Incompetence at its finest. I am having blurred and double vision in my eye. The triage nurse at the clinic referred me to the ER. The clinic eye doc doesn't work on Fridays but she said the ER has a slit eye beam and could at least tell if something serious is happening. The doctor in the ER can't even figure out how to conduct an eye exam with a chart. There is a reason I don't get medical care here unless it is an absolute emergency. This isn't the first issue I've had with EP Health. I should know that unless I need to be airlifted out, there's no need to waste my time here. Not to mention the outrageous expense. They charge way more than any real hospital. Pathetic. read more

I'm unsure about the reviews from three years ago, but without a doubt this place, staff, everything was amazing. I went in after seeing all the other urgent cares closed. Wasn't sure what to expect...but I was only hesitant for about five minutes...then I went straight to impressed and very appreciative. The staff was simply amazing, kind, and attentive. I ended up going from the ER to the OR, and was a bit nervous. Why I have no idea, this truly was one of the best experiences I've had with a hospital. The urgent care was okay, but don't go here if you value your money. They make inappropriate billings by claiming testing on another site means they cannot bill as urgent care. So you get a surprise bill, which they say isn't a surprise. You file a dispute and they ignore that. You get your insurance company to tell them to change the billing and they ignore that. Then they send you to collections. All the time, their communications were nasty to me. And I can't seem to find recourse with collections either. Now, the amount isn't enough to hire a lawyer, but I suspect that is the only way to fight them because they ignore the law. The collection agency didn't even read my email detailing everything, so my credit will get messed up unless I just pay them off. read more

I'd choose zero stars if possible... Worthless staff (including doctor) and billing "practices." Dr. John Meyer is truly worthless. He came to my room for quite literally 1 minute. I diagnosed myself and he said "sure let's go with that." Never to be seen again. I have insurance and never received a bill for the balance not covered by insurance. Yet somehow I managed to receive a letter threatening to send to collections. I NEVER RECEIVED ONE BILL!!!!!! The charge for the "doctor" visit was appalling. He literally did NOTHING. It actually is robbery and they get away with it!!! Good luck trying to get through to "customer service." Had I actually received a bill I WOULD HAVE PAID IT IMMEDIATELY. This truly is an incompetent hospital and luckily I'll never be back as I thankfully do not live there. Reading many of the other reviews and it's shocking how similar many of them are (in a very negative way). Yet nothing will change. Disgusting. Editing to include the fact that there was ZERO follow up to this. I emailed the address (as listed) and of course, never heard back. This was weeks ago. I would say if you can go anywhere but here for care, you will be better off. We have now had three very negative experiences at that hospital and will drive to Wyoming rather than go there. Estes Park is not a place to grow old and feeble. Very few caregivers and medical care is not good for elderly. read more

Amazing emergency department. We are two physicians visiting from out of state so when my son fell on the playground and had a laceration to his eye, we stressed about whether to take him to a bigger Emergency Department. Instead we came to this department and had the best care with no waiting. Linda RN was amazing. Dr. Mayer was skillful, gentle, and provided excellent care despite two neurotic physicians hovering over him. Thank you!!! read more

This review is specifically of the nurses or staff manning the MRI/CT Scanning areas the night I was admitted through the ER. I have never been treated as rudely by any staff in any other hospital. Unfortunately, I've been in over 23 hospitals in my life. I will avoid this hospital in the future if there is any chance I might need an MRI or CT Scan. I used to have both of my ears pierced in a number of spots including through both daiths and traguses UNTIL the extremely rude, obnoxious and brutal technician declared they had to be removed prior to the scan. She refused to listen to me explain how many successful scans I'd had with them in place, including one the prior week. Not only wouldn't she listen, but she insisted on removing all 4 of them herself. She completely mangled the 2 gold hoops that were in my daiths. I got them back in a specimen jar, twisted beyond help & missing the gold balls that hold the ends together. She then proceeded to attack the studs in my traguses. She pulled, twisted, cursed trying to get the first one out with no luck. She went through the same routine on the second and finally asked how I took them out. I told her again that they had screw backs and she gave up even though they were extremely easy to remove (I wasn't about to enlighten her at that point). So they did the scan and the remaining earrings didn't alter the results or cause any negative impact to their machinery or me. So on top of their (ludicrous) bill, I'm out over $200 for piercings & jewelry. I'm going to call tomorrow & request they deduct the $200 from their bill. And that doesn't include the pain of getting both piercings redone & waiting for the original holes to completely heal before proceeding. AGAIN: Everyone else, especially Drs Leigh & Campbell and nurse Ben were phenomenal & get 5 stars. This is only for the MRI/CT Scan bullies. read more

Estes Park Health cannot be trusted. They will lie to you and deceive you. I arrived at Estes Park Health with the intent to find out if they accept a particular insurance. I was told by multiple staff member that my insurance was accepted by them and I owe nothing for the visit. Several months later I received a bill from Estes Park Health indicating I owe hundreds of dollars. They did not take my insurance when I was told they did. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AT ALL COST. DO NOT TRUST THEM. Please report any malpractice by this institution. read more

My daughter goes to Estes Park High School. She boasted to another kid that she took an overdose of her medication. Unlikely, because I give her her medication and the remainder gets locked up in the safe. The kid told a teacher and they sent her to the Hospital here in Estes Park. The school has to send a child under these circumstances to the Hospital. So ambulance to the Medical Center. They didn't do any special tests, just kept her there and called me. When I got there they said they were going to send her to a different hospital with an adolescent unit. I had no choice in this matter. Another ambulance ride this time, far, and expensive. Now I have to pay for two hospitals. She was placed on a 72-hour hold. Just got a bill from Estes Park Medical Center for doing nothing, they want over $10,000 plus. The bill doesn't explain or justify the charges. They didn't do any tests, that I know of besides a urine and blood test. If you can use Longmont General or even better UC Health right across from Longmont General. read more

This ED received a few negative reviews because their bill was too high. My experience was excellent. I am very critical as I have been in the medical profession for 36 years. The doc, nurses, and EMT were superb, great bedside manner and expeditious with testing. Applaud applaud. Oh, and an extra benefit were the three mule deer creating us when we parked. read more

On the 20th of February my son and his family were in an auto accident the killed his wife and mother of their 4 yr old daugter, also breaking her collarbone and his ribs, the hospital staff was excellent both in treating and taking care of my son and granddaughter. When we arrived from Utah later that night the staff was also kind and attentive to the fact that we had driven along way, they went out of their way to find us lodging at a very affordable price. I have nothing but gratitude and thanks for the hospitality and care they showed my son and family. read more

My 76-year old boss, who owns a vacation home in Estes Park, called me to find a place for her to go for a CT scan because she had experienced what she thought might be stroke symptoms several weeks prior and wanted to be sure that she hadn't had a minor stroke. I called this facility and the nurse was extremely helpful and suggested that she go to the ER so they could see her quickly. Without going into all the details, over the next few hours, the situation deteriorated to the point where she was held against her will, by armed police. My boss didn't have her cell phone and couldn't call anyone for help but finally got a nurse to contact someone who called me. I spoke to a nurse and a doctor and since I was not in Colorado, I told them I was sending a friend from Ft. Collins to pick her up, since they did not want her to drive. As anyone can imagine, my boss was almost hysterical - telling them that she had ill animals at home that she needed to care for and couldn't stay there. By the time my friend arrived to pick her up, the hospital had sent animal control to pick up her animals at her home. Fortunately, I was able to reach a nurse and stop them from taking her dogs. They had no right to take her pets and the stress and fear would have killed the older ones. They never told me that's what they were going to do, they just said that they could handle the animal situation. By that time, they would not allow my boss to leave, even with someone to drive her. Imagine how terrified and frustrated you would be to be held against your will when you went in to the ER for tests. This is a woman who owns businesses. I called her family in her home state and they spoke to the doctor, who told them that they were sending her to another facility and she would be released if THEY came to get her, so they embarked on a 22-hour car ride. My boss was taken IN A POLICE CAR to another facility an hour away. She was threatened with being handcuffed if she didn't cooperate. By the way, she is 5 ft. tall and weighs 90 lbs., and as I mentioned, is 76 years old. She was transported and admitted to the other facility for examination. By midnight that same night, my boss was able to call me from a hospital phone and said that she had been examined at the other facility and was able to leave immediately, but she was stranded with no car. I contacted the same friend who had gone to Estes Park Medical Center earlier in the day and was not allowed to drive her home. When she arrived at the other hospital, my boss was released. There was no reason for that entire incident. Feeling that she shouldn't drive without further testing is one thing, but having armed police officers threaten to handcuff her and sending animal control to get her dogs, after she just went in to get a CT Scan, is beyond imaginable. My boss was traumatized and now says that she will never go to a hospital again for any reason. By the way, we are just receiving the bills from Estes Park Medical Center - so far totaling almost $8,000. We don't even have a way to dispute it, since it was already almost completely paid for by insurance. I can't imagine a more frightening situation than to go to a hospital for help and end up being held by armed police, and almost lose your beloved pets to animal control, where anything could have happened to them. read more

Never realized that high altitude could bring on kidney stone passage but it did for my husband. Seriously the best ER experience we both have ever had. Staff was friendly and helpful and DOCs were excellent as well. Of you need medical help go there and they will help!! They don't care if you are out of towners.. they will take care of you!!! read more

A-OK for CERTAIN THINGS, that is. While living in Estes Park in '08. I very suddenly developed stroke symptoms. Having no clear plan, we called 911 explaining the stroke symptoms. An EP Med Center ambulance was sent, which got lost and delayed...At the Med Center, they confirmed stroke but informed us they could not treat it.....more waiting for helicopter which took me to Swedish hospital in Denver, where I received tpa injection 1 1/2 hours after onset... The eventual bill for the 2-mile ambulance ride (no medical services performed on board) to the no-treatment-possible hospital was around $1800. Pretty expensive van-ride! Helicopter bill was $17,000! In hindsight, what I learned was: -have a general treatment plan in mind for possible, likely health crises. -Find out what your local hospital can and cannot treat! -Read your insurance benefit plan. -Most importantly, know your options! There are plenty of other hospitals in Longmont, Loveland, and Boulder that MAY be much more qualified/equipped to handle your health crisis. Had I known then what I learned in short order, I would have had my wife drive me down to Longmont United Hospital (one gallon in gas- say $2.50 instead of $18,800; approx. 40 minutes rather than 1 & 1/2 hours), where they could have and would have administered the clot-busting injection in about 1/2 the time from onset. Do some basic homework/research to avoid this kind of VERY expensive, time-consuming, health-impacting decision, which can easily happen when you're stressed/panicky. Besides this experience (when I most critically needed rapid help), I have to point out that my PCP and ophthalmologist care for many, many years in the EP Med Center was great. Ditto for all associated nurses, techs, customer care folks, etc. I just wish I had known that stroke wasn't even something that EP Med. Center could deal with back in '08; maybe they can now. read more

My blind boyfriend had an ophthalmologist follow up appointment. We had made the follow up the day of the last exam and the day and time written down. When we got there the women at the front desk politely told us there was no appointment scheduled as we continued to try to get in touch with other receptionist and nurses in the doctors office. She told us we could wait outside and the doctor would come talk to us in just a second. After a 15 minutes and nurse came out practically yelling at us that we never made appointment and the doctor had no time to see us. She immediately blamed us and was rude right off the bat. We asked so the doctor isn't going to talk to us? since that was what we thought we were waiting for. She snapped at us that the did not have time. This nurse was so incredibly rude we did not even make another appointment.
