Once I figured out where the spa was I was impressed--it was warm and comfortable, there's a waterfall in the waiting room and calming music playing to create a nice relaxing ambiance. I saw Brittany and she was awesome. She was friendly and she made me feel comfortable and did a good job answering my questions. The room was clean, well-kept and prepared freshly before I went in. The whole experience was quick, clean, and not overly painful.

He also does a great dye job, and will recommend things to you based on your colour tone, your hair, whether it can withstand certain treatments, and also will ask your general day to day look to make sure you look great at all times. I made the mistake one time of seeing another hairdresser to touch up my bangs when he was on vacation, and I learned my lesson because I looked like the Three Stooges! I will never let another human touch my hair, Hilton only! I am sure the other stylists are just as good at this salon, but I can't vouch for them as I will not see anyone else. Though I don't dye my hair and it started out extremely healthy, so of course he's seen more damaged hair! I never claimed to have the most damaged hair in the city, just that my hair is now damaged. Would never go back, nor recommend. Awful experience, especially how flip the owner was when I told him my concerns. Edited to add the owner's response is patently untrue. I absolutely asked about my hair colour not changing prior to the appointment because I know keratin changes natural hair colour and wanted to ensure this wouldn't happen with the hair botox, (he was there when I went in for the treatment and to suggest otherwise is a lie), and even post-trim my hair remains damaged, a different colour, and notably, this expensive treatment didn't work. As for the photos, he took them without my consent when I went into talk to him about how upset I was about my hair. I haven't seen them, but it was certainly not "throughout the process" as he claimed. Stay away from this salon!!!

I went in with a chin-length growing-out pixie and walked out with an ear-length mushroom. I can work with it, but I didn't want that much cut off and I certainly didn't want poof around my ears, which is really unflattering for my round head shape. My head looks so short that when I saw myself in my mirror afterwards I thought my mirror was distorted. I also felt very talked-down-to as someone who doesn't fuss with my hair on a daily basis, with my stylist barely speaking to me and feigning shock when I told him, no, I don't style my hair every morning. All that said, the cut is acceptable as a not-terrible growout cut, but I wouldn't go back.

We were then asked if we wanted any coffee or tea while we received our spa service. The coffee was good and nice to sip on to warm up. Melanie did my pedicure and Megan did my Mom's. They were both masked, professional and friendly. They made sure my Mom and I were both comfortable during the entire time. We sat in massage chairs that were so relaxing. There were plenty of nail polish colour options to choose from and we both chose festive Christmas colours. Overall, our pedicure experience was very relaxing and pleasant. The next day I returned to Toronto and called Accent on Beauty, they refused to return my money and offered me an in store credit, despite me saying that I did not live in Ottawa. At the time I was calling while waiting at a walk-in clinic and the owner Darlene (?) said that I would have to return to Ottawa to verify that it was her salon's mistake and not something I have done. When I offered to show her a photograph she also said that would not confirm that I did not mutilate my own crotch. I was stunned that this woman would not credit me $30 and implied that I may have intentionally ripped my skin off my body. I am part Asian and my skin scars dark. The effected area is at the seam of my pubic area and my leg and I have had to sit wide legged and lubricated with polysporon to help the skin grown back. This is the complete opposite of the sexy that i thought I would feel and will last way longer than the wax job. After all this, and all I will continue to deal with as I heal and treat my new darkened crease, I was only offered a credit to my account that I cannot even fulfill as I live in Toronto.

From the service side, I was disappointed because I don't like it when the nail tech doesn't pay 100% attention to the customer. She started speaking in her language to another employee there every now and then. Then, I realized she was almost training the other employee at doing nails, and was explaining how she was doing it. At first that wasn't too bad, but then after 30 min, it seemed as if she paid no mind to me and just forgot that I was a person, not just a pair of hands, so she offered no conversation or involved me in any way-- nothing. I was happy with my nails, so in the end, I wasn't mad. It's just not ideal, from a service perspective. ---I went in a second time, and got Mel. She is amazing! I told her I didn't have much time for a full acrylic nail process, and we came up with a short cut that looked just like the full 1hr process. She went straight at it, no distractions, and my nails were perfect! She made my day--basically week, because she was so careful and quick. No cuts, perfect coating, and exact shape I wanted. I would choose her again and again! ---The third time I came to get an upper lip wax, and got Amy. She was quick and the wax they use is really effective. It's the first time the wax works so well on me. It was a bit messy, some got on my nose, but I didn't mind because she got it off before it dried. She was running behind on her last appointment, so I had to wait for about 5-7 min. And before being done with me, she went up to talk to a customer that walked in to the office. I wondered that why with such a quick procedure, she wouldn't just finish with me first and then go see the other customer, or had an extra employee to take care of the front. Oh well, it wasn't a big deal-- just not ideal. A tip if you're getting this done is you should wipe some alcohol on your upper lip every night to avoid little bumps or redness. ---All around good place, just not too high on customer service. And I've noticed the bedding area is not always very clean or has any place to leave your purse or jacket while you get something done.
