Wow! We stumbled upon this beauty and boy was it delicious! We tried the patatas bravas, risotto, red tuna and the black angus beef, to name a few highlights, and they were stupendous. Reasonably priced and great service. Nothing like leaving the restaurant with your stomach full and money left in your pocket!!

I left Sal Gorda VERY pleased. Let's start with the service: exceptional in every regard. We tried nearly every tapa that Sal Gorda had to offer and we loved every dish. Things you cannot miss: cube roll black angus, ox-tail, and the shrimp & edamame salad. However, you really can't go wrong at this place! The location and ambiance were great, as well. 10/10 restaurant with even better service :) .

The Food was very flavorful and delicious. The service was very patient and the food arrived very soon after ordering. I highly recommend the Tuna tartar, and the shrimp edamame mashed potatoes, but honestly everything was great. The place was a little small and hot but it fit 10 of us with no issues.

Best meal we have had in Spain yet. The vegetable curry was fabulous, as well as the ceviche and the Cube Roll Black Angus. The prices are very reasonable.

We came here twice during our Seville trip and both times were just amazing. Tasty tapas with a hint of sophistication. Waiting time - be prepared to wait and chill out, don't get nervous, the wait is worth it. The first night we waited around 30 min at 9pm while we asked for a table for the following night and were seated pretty quickly. Service - there are only 3 waiters for the whole area: inside, outside and the second floor. So chill out again, get your glass of wine and wet your appetite with a nice drink and wait to be attended. Food - everything was good, but I would particularly suggest three tapas: Steak tartar de solomillo de retinto - you gotta love raw meat though, if not - don't even order - raw meet served with fresh yolk on top, mustard and mayo, for better tasting mix it all. Incredible. Canelones de ropa vieja - cannelloni filled with shredded pork with a creamy sauce on top, delicious. Risotto de boletus and langostinos - whoever said it is not tasty, does not know risotto taste. The creamiest mushroom risotto with a large shrimp on top! Great wine list and a round of limoncello from the house as well! Thank you Sal Gorda!

I visited this place twice during my one week trip. All of plates that I order were great.

Amazing service. Genuine and welcoming staff. Super helpful with my order, as a vegan, they did not have an allergen menu but the server was vegetarian and helped me pick the Ajoblanco without the Mojama (salt cured tuna bits) and is almond milk based and is a MUST try. Absolutely delicious. Also the verduras which is a tartar style dish with tomatoes instead of meat or fish. My family got the ham/patata croquetas, fried salmon, and some other tapas and loved all of it. Would 100% recommend this place to any local or visitor!

During my few days in Seville, this was one of my favorite tapas restaurants for their creative takes on traditional Andalusian dishes. Their strawberry salmorejo was unfortunately unavailable, but I tried the crispy cones filled with sea anemone topped with plankton emulsion, the grilled sea bream over ajoblanco, the ajoblanco with mojama and sesame, the steak tartar, and the cochinito/roasted suckling pig. I had to try the sea anemone cones, since it sounds so ridiculous. And it turned out to be very tasty. Each cone is a bit small, but reasonable for 2 euros. And the briney flavor of both the sea anemone and the plankton cream is nice. Definitely worth trying. One of my favorite dishes here, the grilled sea bream was amazing. The fish was cooked perfectly so that the skin is wonderfully crispy and the meat is moist and flakey. And the subtle taste of the ajoblanco serves as a really nice complement to the fish. More of a sauce than a soup. I really like ajoblanco so I also tried the one with mojama (dried cured tuna) and sesame. This was is an actual bowl of soup, so if you want soup, then go with this one. Only get this if you really like the taste of seafood because the bits of mojama have a very strong salty fishy taste, but it balances well with the light flavor of the ajoblanco. The steak tartar was actually my least favorite dish. Not bad, but I didn't really taste much of anything. It just seems like they have more interesting dishes. In contrast, the cochinito is delicious. Usually suckling pig is really expensive so I love how it's less than 4 euros here. The meat was moist, juicy, and tender, and the skin had a great crispiness to it. Overall, I loved the tapas. My favorites are the sea bream and cochinito, but I really like how most of their dishes are very modern and inventive, yet still inspired by traditional Andalusian dishes and ingredients. I definitely recommend.

Draft is great, esp. in a rainy cold night.

I have been to a few tapas restaurants in Sevilla for those two days. This is definitely my favorite place. It's a cozy and tasty restaurant. I don't speak Spanish, and I feel unsure when I tapas every time. I showed pictures to the waiter, and he helped me place the order and recommended other tapas for me.

Back early the 3rd time for Cochinito (Pork). Darn!!! Still out. Tried many items; Shrimp Risotto, Dorado Fish, Gazapacho, Kim Chi Wings, Tuna Tataki, and of course beer and Sangria. I can say that they were all great. Lunch over. Very satisfying. Service was vey good also. Will have to try the Cochinito the next time back in Seville.

Sal gorda - busy on a Tuesday night!

Knowing we were going to eat a lot during a food tour, we settled on some small tapas (ham, cheese, bread, and olives) and got some sangria and a beer. I came here due to a yelp recommendation because like most westerners unaccustomed to the Spanish way of living I was hungry at about 7 pm and needed something to eat. Yay yelp to the rescue. The place was crowded and there were no seats available when I arrived. There were many small groups congregated around tables and a few couples as well. It isn't obvious how to proceed once you come in the door so I probably stood there awkwardly for a few minutes near the door before making my way to the bar to what looked to be a vacant seat. A gentleman informed me that it belonged to his girlfriend so I was forced to now stand awkwardly next to the bar. Bar tender to the rescue explaining that if I waited he was pretty sure someone would leave soon and I could order a drink while I waited. I ordered a sangria and also inquired about food but was told that I need to have an actual seat in order to order food. After nursing my drink for about 20 mins when I was about to pay and head out to find somewhere else to eat, a spot finally opened up and I was treated to the most delicious steak and potatoes and zucchini tapas. This had to be one of the most delicious things I have eaten on this vacation. When I finally vacated my seat to save a pair of new arrivals, there was a line outside of people waiting for the opportunity to eat here. I might chance it again before I leave Seville. I highly recommend for the food and friendly waiters but wish there was a way to turn seats over more quickly. One guy kept insisting he was saving his girlfriend's seat but in the 90 mins I spent there she never showed up. Who knows if she ever existed. Bread comes free with your tapas order and really complimented the meal.

We ordered their roasted lamb with cous cous, garlic shrimp croquetta (that was the croquetta of the day), pork cheek stew with potato purée and the chocolate panna cotta for dessert. We also ordered their sangria and tinto de verano. Every dish we ordered was AMAZING - tasty flavorful well seasoned melt in your mouth meat bursting with flavors. We devoured every bite and it was hard to pick a favorite. Both the lamb and pork dishes were 11/10. Not just the taste but the presentation of every tapa was fantastic. Their drinks were also great. The dessert was to die for. This place is super packed during peak dinner hours and there is barely any room to stand. Since we walked in around 11pm, we got a seat and were well taken care of all thru the night. Also noticed alot of veggie options on the menu which was great. Service was awesome ambience is chic. I am certain I am going to crave their tapas once I am back home. Highly highly recommend this place when in Seville.

Where do I begin? Let's talk about the ambience. To call this place rustic would probably capture…read moreit best, it's really probably more like a cafeteria or a school room at a very old school. Tables perhaps a bit close together, not terribly comfortable. Loud, busy. As far as the service, it was our impression that our waiter was the only person serving the 30 or so tables in their dining room. Suffice it to say the service was not fast and not good. Inexplicably, every time we ordered a Coke we were asked if we wanted a Coke Zero. If I wanted a Coke Zero I would have said the words Coke Zero. Even when I asked for another Coke, he again asked "Coke Zero?" It took next to forever to get the check, and forever to get a cappuccino. At one point I took it upon myself to point the waiter to a table behind us that had been desperately attempting to get his attention. This was all not good. As to the food. First, our fault for not knowing what tataki meant. We did not expect to receive salmon that was seared on the outside and raw on the inside. So that one is on us, although we also think the meal came tepid at best. The lamb on couscous was dry and tough. The pork cheek stew was actually pretty good if a bit gluey. The calamari was good. The sushi as they called it was average. What they called the tiramisu was more like a pudding with some liqueur and chocolate on the top, and a little bit of breadish stuff in the bottom. Not my idea of tiramisu, and probably not yours either. So we could not get too excited about these various dishes. But what was particularly frustrating and bizarre was that two people sitting across from us ordered food that looked absolutely delicious. So we got to sit there wondering why we didn't order what they ordered. They ordered a large beef dish with potatoes which is on the menu, and we think they ordered a large octopus meal although we are not sure. Everything they had looked better than anything we had. So it may be that we somehow just picked the wrong items. So it was a strangely frustrating meal. This place has good reviews and we expected good tasting food. Unfortunately it did not work out that way, and the ambience and service were negative contributing factors. I can't entirely write this place off, only because the food other diners received actually looked very good. But I don't think I would go there again.
