On July 2, 2026 at around 8:00 a.m., I selected a shrub that was clearly marked at $30 (half price). When I got to the register, I noticed I was being charged $35 for the plant. I politely questioned the price and even told the cashier I had taken a picture of the sign showing it was marked at $30. Instead of offering to help or calling a manager, the cashier seemed completely uninterested and simply pointed toward the building, telling me to speak with the manager myself. I asked if she could please get the manager while I went to take a picture of the price, but she made no effort to assist. I then found the manager and took her to the display. The sign clearly showed the shrubs were priced at $30, and every plant in that section was the exact same variety. The manager told me the plant was probably misplaced and refused to honor the posted price, explaining that she was a new manager and could not do that. For a difference of only $5, I expected much better customer service. A business that values its customers would have honored the advertised price or at least made an effort to resolve the situation. I've always enjoyed shopping at this location, which is why this experience was so disappointing. I hope Houston Garden Center takes customer service more seriously in the future and ensures that prices are accurate and that employees are empowered to resolve simple issues professionally.

They also have a wonderful selection of pots and gift items to choose from. I did not get a chance to see everything but I will try to next time. I did buy some wonderful flowers. I planted them right when I got home. They are looking great!!! Some people say they are pricey. For me they seem to be the same as every where else. The cashier was nice. One thing I will mention: they do charge a fee of 3% on credit card charges. If you pay by debit or cash no extra fee.

I've scored some incredible bargains on their 4-inch plants for just $1.99. Just make sure you go with at least some self-control because it's way too easy to go overboard--I definitely have! I also bought a Pink Lady seedling here, and it has grown and bloomed beautifully. The quality of their plants is excellent. I've lost a few plants simply because I'm a beginner, but I've also managed to keep many of the ones I bought back in early March, and now it's July. Prices are fair for the quality of tree we bought. They gave the tree a fresh cut, and tied it onto the car for us. They also installed a level permanent wooden base at the bottom which made it super easy to stand inside the house. We also bought the Keeps-IT-Green liquid nutrients to lengthen life of the tree. Mary was very friendly and helpful! I couldn't believe how busy this place was! They not only have metal signs and yard sculptures, but also carry Mexican pottery, stone, soil, and a variety of plants. We picked out some perennials for a pot & a beautiful vine plant. We needed to run by Lowe's for something else and I saw the same plant there --it was the same price but did not look near as good as the one at Madison Gardens.
