4.18.26 This was my first time coming to The Arbor Gate. Some friends said I was love this place. They were so right! The plant selection is incredible. They all look so healthy. They also have a wonderful selection of pots and gift items to choose from. I did not get a chance to see everything but I will try to next time. I did buy some wonderful flowers. I planted them right when I got home. They are looking great!!! Some people say they are pricey. For me they seem to be the same as every where else. The cashier was nice. Always recommend! This is a great garden center. It's really hard to kill anything that I buy here and that's saying something. It really is a 10/10 for service, selection, and value. If I can't find what I'm looking for they can usually tell when they get a certain plant in or they might even be able to order it. They're always ready to help answer questions or find a plant that you're looking for. I would say that you are definitely paying for top quality plants. So the value of the plants is high and therefore the prices tend to be a bit higher as well. But you really are getting quality. I love shopping here. read more

Staff was a bit rude - offered others help but not me. Also, credit card fees are costs of doing business. I support local all I can, but Arbor Gate is big enough to not need to pass credit card fees onto consumers. I would like to thank Arbor Gate Nursery for the Maple Tree they donated to this Army veteran who is a double amputee for my front yard. They not only delivered it but they also sent two men over to plant it. This was last year and the tree is growing great, it was about 4' tall when planted but now it is 12' high and strong. This place does not enforce ADA accessible parking. Irresponsible attendant in site setting up parking situation to be unsafe and inaccessible to seniors and handicapped people. This company needs to restructure the 2 parking areas. I never have gotten parked in the lot to even go in check out their shop. Ridiculous!! read more

We came in here looking for a tree for our front yard. The parking lot is TINY! So I would suggest going early. They have a wonderful assortment of plants, trees etc. However, I'll also say it can get cramped very quickly and the customer service was a bit lacking. The gentlemen I spoke with asking about potting soil just seemed annoyed by my presence. But, I'm willing to give them another shot. read more

Ventured out today to check this place out. We've been here for a year now and haven't done much with our yard. Instead of going the usual way, which was Lowe's or Home Depot, I decide to stop here. I am so glad I did. What an amazing variety of plants! I took my time and walked around the entire place. It's simply beautiful. The service was outstanding. This place literally has every flower your heart could ever dream of. My mom and i were blown away the first time we came here. Arbor gate is huge! And it helps that they section out different types of plants too. The have an area dedicated to roses, any area for succulents..etc etc. It's fantastic. All I can say is I am in heaven when I come here. Today, I just brought some small baggie of bugs, I can't get rid of on my Altheas. Well, I tried Sevin Spray...nada...my neighbor said to use Neen oil, which I did and have sprayed once for the past two days. First day, huge Mealy Bugs were all alive and kicking, so I did the spray again, adding a tad more of the oil. This morning I looked and saw baby Mealy bugs, but took those with me. The young man at Arbor told me how this bug's life cycles and just give another try. I would have bought any product he recommended, but he was honest. The grounds are just lovely and there is not one person who received a gift from their store would be disappointed. It's amazing what they have and their knowledge. read more

Some people have green thumbs. I have a black one. I have killed every plant I have tried to grow. So when I heard of a groundcover rose plant that's disease tolerant for zones 7-11. Drought and heat tolerant. I'm like, where is this rose bush? I need this thing. Arbor Gate was the only shop that showed they had it and OMGosh! They have a whole Rose section and I knew I was in the presence of people who could help me. I needed a lot of help. I came on a rainy day thinking they would be slow. Nope the front lots was so full they had a parking attendant controlling traffic. I went to the back where the roses were but didn't have a trolley on hand and an employee went all the way to the front to get us one. I had my toddler in tow and unfortunately he wouldn't allow anyone to pull the the Red Flyer wagons. Another employee saw the difficulty of we were having pulling a rose laden wagon over a dirt path with a possessive toddler with no sense of speed nor direction. (Please don't drive that way when you grow up.) so that employee wrote up a ticket and said he would watch our wagon while we pay all the way up front Another gentleman offered to carry my toy to the front. Lol. This is a helpful store! But no almost there. We pay, we navigate through traffic to drive to the back to the pick up the roses instead of schlepping the impossibly heavy load and the employee even helped us load the car. Seriously great service and hallelujah for having the coolest assortment of flowers, plants, trees (I'll be back for you White Peach Tree!) planters and whatnots. Seriously what it's because I don't know what they are. Oh and free classes on Saturdays to help know nothings like me. Thank you! read more

The Arbor Gate might have plants and people know things but they hire very rude officers/security guards to police their very small parking lot. I have in the past patiently waited to park but today the officer was very rude of how he made me exit the parking lot with a lie that three handicap cars were waiting(I have been there many many times before and today there was only a car in front of me who would get to wait, a huge dully in front of them probably picking up dirt but everyone else was parked so there wasn't 3 handicap cars waiting to park there weren't even three cars waiting). Then he puts his arms up in a defensive motion didn't even want to hear what I had to say. I said I have waited there before but he proceeds to just go behind my car to make me leave. Truthfully, there needs to be a different way to park cause someone is going to get hit on that highway and looking for someone to blame as to why. That officer/security guard did this at 12:38 pm on March 28, 2023 wanted me out there so I left. When I drove away the next security guard, a woman, thought my treatment by her fellow officer was funny so she proceeds to laugh. I will look for plants elsewhere from now on. read more

I am 1 and done with this place. We already have a wind spinner for the back yard and decided to add one to the front. Rather than drive back to Boerne to get another from the artist (Jim Lapaso), we went to Arbor Gate since it's closer. While we were there, my husband saw a fountain he liked for $1000 so again, we decided to get that since it was closer than Frazier's which is where we had planned to go. It took a while to find out what the price was for the wind spinner but finally we did and I went in to pay for both. Only after the card ran did she tell me there are no refunds, only store credit which would've been fine except that's also when I found out the hard way I had just paid $2000 for a wind spinner - and they don't include the to mount it on! Seriously? Last time we literally drove 3 hours back from Boerne with a pole that was included which was part of the hassle I was trying to avoid. Great... We realized we should have brought the larger of our 2 SUVs and started to make arrangements to come back in the afternoon to pick up the rest of our order when one of the employees suggested that an employee, Fernando, makes money on the side by delivering large items and that he could probably do it Saturday after work. Okay, that would save us a trip. Fernando came up there and said he could do it Tuesday after work. Not the same day but still reasonable so we traded info and left. Tuesday rolls around and guess what? Fernando says because we had rain, he's behind on things and can't deliver the fountain that day. Great...because I had a funeral to go to on Wednesday and our son had surgery scheduled for Thursday - things I can't just easily move around so it would have to be Friday which was a full 7 days after we had bought it. I was a little irritated at this point but he said he was available Friday morning so I said that would work because his other option, in the evening, definitely didn't work based on my schedule. Friday morning rolls around - insert ominous music here - I text Fernando at 7:52 - Do you have an approximate idea of when you will be here today? I want to make sure that I am home. No response. Finally by 8:30 I called and that's when I found out hey guess what? Fernando decided he can't do it until 6 in the evening. He said he didn't see my text about the morning schedule. Somehow he managed to read the part that said I could work with Friday but he didn't read the part about Friday morning??? He said he could bring it out and install it for free, but hello - the time still doesn't work for me so free doesn't matter and it wasn't a situation where I was trying to get something for nothing; I just wanted what was promised to me. As he's telling me this, I'm throwing on clothes to drive up there - again - to go pick it up myself. By this time, Fernando knew I was coming up there and then the traffic guy (maybe a police officer? I have no idea) wouldn't initially let me in to park because at 8:59 for a place that opens at 9 am, they literally had no available parking in their lot for customers. When you drive by there and see 20, 30, or more cars parked along 2920 that's customers risking their lives getting hit by parking on the shoulder of a 4-lane highway because while they have plenty of flowers and such, they have next to no parking space available for their customers. As we talked, someone in a white SUV drove right past me and parked without so much as a sideways glance so I asked why it was that they were able to park there and I wasn't. Oh, that's the owner's daughter and she has special privilege - that's exactly what he told me. Yay? The story ends with I eventually got a very large fountain that still needs to be assembled and a wind spinner with no pole and I left. It's a shame I drive past there at least once a week because for the rest of my natural life, that probably means I'm going to be irritated at least once a week every time I think of the very lousy customer service experience I had from beginning to end. If you caught the details, I spent $3000 in one shot and apparently that wasn't enough to rate as a legit customer to them. Next time I want a fountain, I will definitely remember that I should've stuck with Frazier's in the first place and if I ever decide I really need a 3rd wind spinner, I will ask Jim Lapaso to commission one for me directly. read more

Disappointing. Normally I always have wonderful things to say about the staff, but this was a first for me. I contacted Arbor Gate to find a plant and I was very specific in what i was looking for. Two days later I received a message stating they had the plant in various sizes. I called back to confirm the type and species and was told they had them. I spoke with Alicia who was extremely polite over the phone. I headed to the nursery which is about 30 minutes away. When i get there, they do have the specific type, but not the species I specifically asked for. The species was available in other forms. No problem as I felt maybe they might be scattered around the lot. I went into the cashier area and asked to speak with Alicia. She still sounded certain that they had the species and type I was looking for. She contacted another person on the walkie-talkie (same person who had helped me find the plants they had in stock). Now I'm being told that they don't have what I want. At this point I'm pretty pissed because I drove all the way out there (an hour total commute in the horrific Houston traffic) to find out someone doesn't have a clue. I don't care who messed up. We are human and we make mistakes, but don't waste my time and then not have the slightest remorse. I would have appreciated some sort of "I'm sorry" even if it wasn't genuine. Just rude! I'm not the one who messed up. On top of that, you have to park on the side of a very busy road...DANGEROUS! This put such a bad taste in my mouth. With the parking situation, rude employee, and the prices of some of the plants, i am not so sure I'll be going back. If i could have given a zero I would, but the kid that took my substitute plant to my vehicle was a delight. read more

As a business owner myself, I value customer service the most and honor my word. Not the case in this garden store. We spent a ton of money in here and yet we were treated poorly. I made sure and ask the owner if the overpriced tree i'm purchasing is a self pollinating tree and she told me "yes it is", I told her I wanted to buy it only if it is self pollinating...only to find out when I got home after researching the variety that it is only partial self pollinating or may not bear fruit at all by itself. So I called the next day and ask them if I can return it and the lady in the phone said yes. So, my husband drive more than half an hour to return it and only to find out they won't honor it and they just want to give me store credit which I don't want because I lost my trust on them giving me the wrong information abt the tree I purchased, plus I found a better variety and was priced right at another nursery. My husband and the owner had a little argument when the owner didn't honor there word for the return. Totally lacking in customer service. I regret spending money in here and the recent $230 I just spent yesterday. Another reason I won't come here is a lot of my citrus tree that came here are disease and are doing poorly compare to the other citrus tree I got from another nursery. Go to JRN nursery where they don't overprice plants & trees and are very good in producing fruit and will treat you better. P.S. I only went to Arbor gate just because JRN are sold out of the tree that I'm looking for, other than this is not a good place to buy fruit trees. read more

I love this place! So much variety and quality in the plants that they carry. The people here are so knowledgeable about what they sell. You might even catch Randy Lemmon there doing his thing if you're lucky. You can find fruit trees shade/sun plants, bushes, indoor plants and succulents. Lots more than plants though. Pots, fountains, swings and yard and decorative home decor galore. We drive from Deer Park to replenish plants and browse. Always something new. It's a great family outing even if you're not buying. We came on a Sunday morning and it wasn't busy yet. They have a parking attendant who will help you with parking if it gets busy. We parked right in front but they have some spots in the back as well and also street parking on 2920. There are tons of things to put in your yard. Ceramic stuff, glass things, spinners, things to hang on the walls. We didn't find anything we needed and the prices are higher than your average garden store. Two people did ask us if we needed help as well. read more

The Arbor Gate is my happy place. This is more than a garden center, it's an experience... beautiful, fun, amazing. It's the only place I will purchase plants from! The Arbor Gate has an incredible selection of plants that are fairly priced and in great health. Every employee is extremely knowledgeable, helpful and kind. Beverly, Cheryl and Laura are fantastic humans. They will spend time with you to learn about what you want to plant and the area you're planting it in. Also, unlike most garden stores, they won't encourage you to buy more plants than what you actually need for your space. The Arbor Gate truly cares about plants... and they treat their cats and ducks super well which says a lot :) I can't recommend The Arbor Gate enough! read more

Drove here from College Station on a date with my boyfriend. I was just scrolling through Yelp for any recommended garden centers in the area and the reviews were praising Arbor Gate... and they were right! Not only were the staff extremely welcoming and helpful, but the garden cats were adorable and so sweet! I was most intrigued by the variety of tropical fruits and plants available, like grapefruit, figs, dragonfruit, dwarf bananas, and many other citruses. After spending a good while pondering through the whole place-- fruit trees, interior decor, herbs and all-- I chose a few sturdy ceramic pots and some basil to take home with me. I'd recommend this place to anyone with a green thumb! read more

Some painted solid colors, there's polka dots, acid droplets, and more. Giant metal birdhouses, huge vibrant colored metal flower pinwheels, tons of flower pots of all sizes, garden fountains, then, of course, plains, shrubbery, and trees of all kinds.
