Service and concern for customers is probably better if you're about to dump a lot of money on furniture - we're talking five figures here. But for smaller sales - this might not be the place. I wanted to update my bedroom with a few new pieces. Came with measurements and a floor plan and my designer came up with a really creative way to set up my room. Sounds great - right? It was, until when the furniture was delivered, I discovered my designer had ordered the wrong size dresser/chest unit. It fits in my room but not in the way I thought it could be arranged. I called the store immediately, the designer came to the phone but offered no apologies, no options. It's a custom piece, of course, so I can't return it. But I am deeply disappointed and will not use this particular Ethan Allen again. Buying furniture should be fun - and for the price, their customers should be thrilled with how the room turns out. I can't dump tens of thousands on furniture right now - there will be plenty of business for them over time. read more

Ordered custom furniture for a new home that was being completed. Unfortunately there was an explosion in the home just prior to purchasing it and I was forced to postpone the delivery of my furniture order (had nothing occurred the order would have been able to be delivered on time). This is where Ethan Allen customer service fell apart. Other vendors gladly agreed to hold my orders for many months with no issues due to the unusual unforeseen circumstances Ethan Allen refused to extend the time of holding my furniture frequently citing the terms of the contract that I had signed and that it "wasn't their fault". They wanted to force me to pay outrageous storage fees and to pay for the furniture in full, site unseen. I was forced to secure a unit at a storage facility near the property and have the furniture delivered there. This is still an expense, but much cheaper option than what Ethan Allen was going to charge me for storage. They even had the nerve to not deliver the complete order to the storage facility. They had to make a 2nd delivery to the unit a week later with the missing items. The storage unit is near my new home but is a 200 mile round trip from where I am temporarily living. So I had to travel a total of 400 miles because of their negligence with the delivery. Manager Barbara and salesperson Deborah were absolutely abominable and have zero compassion or customer service skills. I realize what occurred fell outside the parameters of their precious contract, but this was a very unique and unusual situation which required them looking past all that to help out a customer. Shame on Ethan Allen. They represent themselves as a high end store...when you are purchasing. Once the purchase has been finalized their true colors shine through. ** I live in Congers NY. So may Family and I have bought furniture almost exclusively from Ethan allen for 53 years that I know of. Recently, I purchased a chair/ottoman and sofa. Upon delivery, a leg on the the chair was broken. The outsourced delivery person said he could not take the product back and I had to call customer service. Also, something about the way the sofa was made makes a giant fart sound when you either sit down or stand up. Not attractive. it has been since May and I am writing this in September and I still don't have any assurance they are standing by their product. Not to mention i actually bought the warranty which was a huge mistake. anyway. So much for 50 years of loyalty. read more

Their furniture is beautiful and the showroom is well laid out. The room setups are inspiring and they have designers that are available to work with you for a deposit (which is discounted from the price of any furniture you purchase). After admiring the furniture in store, I purchased a bed with an upholstered headboard. The bed was not inexpensive, yet I was disappointed in the finish and felt that the quality was lacking. I ordered it in the espresso finish and the paint job is flawed. You can see some spots where the stain is thinner than in others. read more

So where do I begin? Last year, I decided I would spice up my foyer area with a sofa table and a mirror something to give the entrance some decor. I went to Ethan Allen to both purchase the sofa table and to utilize their interior decorating skills for my foyer area. Picking out the table with the design team was a breeze, and they installed the table to my satisfaction as well. But when I later purchased the mirror and it was delivered and installed the mirror scratched my new beautiful sofa table. My daughter was home on delivery and I arrived after the installation of the mirror. After I inspected the table, I noticed the scratch and the misplacement of the mirror. I called the Hartsdale location and the installers came back and saw the damages and said they would order another table but in actuality nothing was done. It seems like I have been subjected to below standards customer service. Apparently, a management change occurred and a manager named Andrew gave me the number for a manager in Long Island or New Jersey. Later, 2 other people made empty promises to handle this situation and again it's been weeks since anyone has contacted me about this matter. read more

My experience with Ethan Allen was fabulous. The sales representative Justyna Librandi was very helpful with helping me to decide which pieces would work in my living room. She requested photos of the space and items I needed the new furniture to complement. I wrote this response to her with photos. I have all of my items. I had to re-arrange my space to accommodate the chairs. I love every item and I am enjoying my purchases. I purchased a living Room set and called to say the wood didn't look right and I was told it was distressed but it kept getting worse so I called again and a gentleman came and tried to fix it with a marker, as time went on it kept getting worse and worse so I sent pictures and was told she couldn't believe I lived with it. Then I was told they would replace the tops and I said ok then I was told tables we discontinued (I wonder why) I then was told they would have them refinished and they did but the wood did not match as I knew it wouldn't and I was told it did match but as the picture shows it clearly did not and they have not made it right I will never buy from them again. read more

My wife and I decided to order and couch and chair and ottoman from a sale they had. The sales experience was ok. Karen our sales associate was helpful. Out problems developed after the order was in. We placed our order Jan. 31st, about a week later we were told our order would be ready by end of March. So in the last week of March my wife and I still hd not received a call from our associate. After reaching out to them they noted our order would not be ready until end of April. So we waited again no one called us. We had to reach out to rep again to get a kind of answer. This time I spoke to Lead Designer Amani who apologize but swore to be check on our order and give us a call. We then found out actually our order will be here is May. So let's by my count it has be 4 months without furniture. The callback from Amani did not happen. One more time we had to reach out to Ethan Allen to figure out where our order was, only to find out that our couch was sitting in the warehouse. We have to wait one more week before it delivered, which by the way they don't give you a time frame they ask to you wait all day. We recently purchased a sleeper/sofa from Donna. While we shopped several other stores we found that Ethan Allen seemed to offer the best quality for the money. Donna spent plenty of time educating us about the quality and other important details. During our research we read many reviews about other people's furniture-purchasing experiences. Most of the negative reviews centered around delivery problems and other after-sale issues. We are delighted to report that our after-sale experience could not have gone any smoother. Although we were expecting the sofa to be delivered in about a month Donna called us to let us know that it was ready and could be delivered ahead of schedule. They were able to set up delivery at a convenient day and time for us and the delivery man, Tom called us on the day of delivery to let us know when he would arrive. Tom was very polite, professional and thoughtful. Although it was quite challenging for him and his assistant to get this large piece up to our apartment as well as into the room we wanted it in they were able to get it done!! The sofa is beautiful, and quite comfortable. We definitely plan on making additional purchases with this Ethan Allen. Once again, we would like to commend Donna for her exceptional knowledge and customer service skills as well as Tom who provided a 5-star delivery experience. Keep up the good work!! read more

Absolutely the worst customer service I ever experienced while shopping for a dining room set for new home. I waited 15 minutes for one of the reps to approach me, none of whom were engaged with a customer. I received service only after going to front desk to request it. I purchased a full dining room set and a wicker set for sun porch directly from the manager, the reps who ignored me missed a large commission. They never called when the furniture was ready for delivery. I took the initiative after 3 months to find it was ready 4 weeks earlier. It arrived damaged. I am extremely disappointed with Ethan Allen's quality and service. I ordered a full dining room, living room and bedroom set and almost all of the furniture had issues - whether it be uneven staining, scratches, gouges, etc. They do not take pride in their furniture and this is not your parent's Ethan Allen. They continually cut corners and their service has been nothing short of horrendous. I feel as if once they have your money they wash their hands with you. In July 2016, we went to this Ethan Allen store (have made purchases at this particular store 3 times) and met with Barbara Cassidy. She was very nice and helpful in selecting décor to go with the Ethan Allen furniture we had purchased about a year previously. She and Gabriella came to our home and worked with us to select some lovely, quality pieces. The order was placed at the end of August. In December, I called the store inquiring about when we could expect delivery. One would think that the salesperson would be calling me. The holidays were coming and the walls were still not decorated even though the anticipated delivery was 6-8 weeks. At that time, I was informed that Barbara had retired. Also, five of the items were in but one picture was not. They offered to "loan" us the floor model until ours came in, which we agreed to. Gabriella came to our home when the items were hung to ensure they were done correctly. At the end of January - still no word on our picture. Called the showroom and asked to speak with the manager. I was told that Vilma (the manager) was busy with a client but she would call me back. That was around noon. By 4:30, I had to call back since she never called. I spoke with the same person and said that Vilma had never returned my call - was she still with the same client! She said hold on, which I did. Five minutes later, Gabriella got on the phone. I told her I wanted to speak to the manager and that I was very upset that Vilma refused to speak to me and put her on the phone. She was very helpful and tried to defuse my anger, but after spending thousands of dollars, one would think that a manager would want to keep her customers happy. Not Vilma!!!! We will NEVER purchase another item from that store if she is still there. Ultimately, Gabriella checked and found out that the picture would be in at the end of January and could be delivered/hung early February. Unbelievable that it takes 5 months and no follow through by the staff to find out when it would be delivered. Not to mention that the manager Vilma could care less about our concerns!!! Wish I knew the contact information for the owners so that I could let them know the type of person they have running their store and the negative message she is sending to people that are spending lots of money on expensive furniture and accessories. We got MUCH better customer service from Raymour and Flannigan when we made purchases totaling half of what we spent at this Ethan Allen. Find what you like at another store!!! read more

She assured me the process would not be as overwhelming and she would help when I am ready. While I didn't make a furniture purchase yet, I will definitely be back and ask for her help. My Husband and I were looking to update our master bedroom King headboard and footboard to replace our old Ethan Allan Georgian Court furniture from 1987! Of course, it's still in excellent condition but trying to modernize. After looking at several other stores due to our budget, I convinced my husband to go to Ethan Allen with me "just to look." We were greeted by Tara, a lovey sales consultant and interior designer. We told her what we were looking for, headboard/footboard, end tables and possibly a chair but wanted to walk around on our own. Tara politely gave us our space, was not overbearing and pushy, as some sales people can be, but pointed us in the right direction and gave us some suggestions. When we were ready, Tara was right there for us, showed us several wonderful options. We fell in love with the Quinn Bed! Tara arranged to come to our home to see our space and provide us with a proper floorplan. She had great ideas and we met back at the store couple of days later. Tara gave us our floor plan and a slew of wonderful options for our space. Because of our budget we were only able to purchase the bed, but Tara still spent hours with us and noted our preferences for future purchases. When it comes to quality there is no place like Ethan Allan. As my husband said, for product that we will spend a third of our lives sleeping in, it was well worth getting the best from Ethan Alan. Having a terrific sales person like Tara, was the icing on the cake! I am a returning customer and over the years (1980's/1990's) have purchased the Georgian Court Bedroom set, Country Colors tv stand/shelves, end table and lamps and accessories, Living room couch, club chairs, wing chair, (some passed on to family and friends still looking great) and most recently a leather couch and curtains.....now 2016 a new king size bed! There are a couple of products I specify over and over as well as I always find their showroom to be both ever changing and inspiring. Their furniture is current, relevant and well priced. I especially like the option of adding spring and down to their sofa cushions which can really upgrade any piece. I recently purchased a sleeper sofa from Ethan Allen using the online website and design services. The designer I chatted with online was exceptional, offering other fabric options other than what was shown online, that exactly met my needs. I was trying to match other Ethan Allen pieces from a few years back. It took a few months to get my sofa, but I have been very pleased with it. It is lovely; the fabric is a great match; and it is comfortable. The only complaints I have about the transaction are the delivery service and the financing. After I waited several months for my sofa to be made, the delivery hub took a month to schedule the delivery. I was told they only had one truck, so I had to wait until they had other deliveries in my area. Considering the cost of Ethan Allen furniture, I do think their delivery hubs should have more than one vehicle available. I purchased the sofa under a special promotional "no finance charge" for two years offer. I've had nothing but difficulty with the billing. The first bill was sent late (after the due date). I've changed my address both verbally and in writing 3 times, and today received another mailing from them that went to the wrong address. I was charged a late fee when they received my payment late because they sent the bill to the wrong address, after I had notified them of the correct address more than once. I do like my sofa, but would probably not buy Ethan Allen again due to the very unpleasant billing experience with their finance company. read more

Two years ago I bought a room of furniture from Ethan Allen, including sectional sofa, club chair, two leather Ottomans, coffee table as well as custom made pillows. The designer who had helped us did not want to hear from us once the order was placed and I was very disappointed about that. Foolishly, I went back a few months ago and purchased a rug for my living room. I've had the rug for about two months now and there are ripples on the rug. The sales person/designer told me that they would come out after "a while." After repeated attempts, unanswered emails, promises that customer service will call me, etc. I am still staring at the ripples on the rug. It seems the only way to get a response from the store is by reviewing them on yelp. I will not shop there again. read more

My husband and I wanted to redecorate our living room, but it's such an odd shaped room and my husband and I just couldn't agree on how to maximize the room or where to put the TV (on the wall or over the Fireplace) to get the most seating. So we broke down and asked for help. I called Ethan Allen very skeptical at first. I had heard they were very upscale and in my mind, thought maybe they couldn't help me. The opposite happened. The decorator who picked up the phone could not have been nicer. Joanna Caldarola made me feel so comfortable and told me not to worry. She came over to the house and figured out a lay out that would work for my husband and I. She did not disappoint. She asked us what we like, don't like, what colors we lean towards, what feel we wanted for the room, etc. and when we went back to see her, she had it all laid out and picked out all the furniture, and accessories that we not only loved, but ended up buying. She also gave us other tips for how the room can look, including paint colors, etc. We are anxiously awaiting all our furniture and Joanna has promised to be here when all delivered so she can help place it all for me. Who does that?? I am more than happy with my experience at Ethan Allen but more importantly with Joanna. I will shop there again for sure, once we can save up for the next renovation. read more

We just moved into our new home and realized our beautiful dining room does not fit well in our new digs. We looked at many stores and stopped into Ethan Allen in Scarsdale, we noticed they were having a 22% off sale. We found the perfect table and chairs with a matching buffet server. Donna was our design consultant, and she was absolutely wonderful. Donna took her time to look at pics of our house to formulate a design based on our taste. She went step by step first finding what kind of table we wanted, then style and size, and finally finish. Then the chairs, and although we wanted fabric she introduced leather, and it's just the look we wanted. When she saw the area rug was more than we wanted to spend she did not push and simply asked what we would be comfortable spending, she then said I will find you something nice in that price range. We like the fact that not only are they the retailer, but also the manufacturer. From what we can see their warrantee is the best in the industry. The store had a great mix of traditional to transitional furniture and the sale made it even better. read more

It all started with the over the reading glasses look from the receptionist as I probably did not fit the look of the usual customer in full designer garb. No hello, she waited for me to address her. One would imagine in these times a company would greet a customer and make them feel welcome. I have spent a great deal of money in Ethan Allen over the years, not this particular one. I browsed the store for awhile and was not approached by a single person. I guess that they have such a steady cash flow that a customer is not important. So I left only to go down to DREXEL HERITAGE and be greeted with a BIG SMILE AND HELLO from the store manager. She graciously introduced herself and said that if she could help me in anyway she would be more than happy to assist me. This is where I will shop as they are obviously a company that respects and appreciates their customers. Maybe they give lessons in business etiquette which surely Ethan Allen can use. I cannot say that I would ever even consider stepping into that store even if my life depended on it. read more
