We bought many furnishings from Ethan Allen in the past and had not been to a design store in years. Frankly, the style was getting to look like something out of Grandma's home. We were pleasantly surprised when we recently made some more purchases. We were drawn to the quality of the craftsmanship and the very reasonable prices. What was really nice was how modern Ethan Allen has become. Kudos to the furniture designers and this store's decorating team. Also nice was the no pressure sales team. Unlike most furniture stores where a salesperson "stalks" you while you browse the store, this team introduces themselves and allows you to walk around and shop freely. How refreshing not to have in-your-face sales pitches. We will be coming here for more furniture and accessories in the future! read more

Amazing customer service. I acquired an old Ethan Allen bed, may be about 20 years old, which was missing a barrel nut on one of the pencil posts. I called Ethan Allen and they were able to help me hunt down the right piece and had it ready for me to pick up within days. We purchased our living room furniture at an Ethan Allen in Massachusetts several years ago. Then, we were incredibly impressed with the furniture quality and the selection, and most of all -the service. Fast forward to today: I want to replace our bedroom set and our dining room set. Got there an hour before closing. Walk in, and there was a receptionist talking with a salesperson. Nothing from either one of them. We walked into the one wing of the store, already annoyed they didn't have the manners to say hello. Probably because I glared, one of them finally greeted us. We walked through every display in the store. Not a single salesperson greeted us, or asked if we needed help. One salesperson walked toward us, said nothing, and walked away. As far as we could tell, there were no others customers in the store. While I still love their furniture, I will not be back. I have no interest in paying good money for rude service. My sister still has some Ethan Allen furniture she got when she first got married a few decades ago. They're known for quality products that last, and obviously that's true. However, they went through sort of a "metrosexual" design period a few years ago, when they were trying to update their image from just being a traditional furniture store and they lost their way a bit in trying to be modern. I'm glad to say that they've finally figured it out and now have a nice mix of both styles, with products and coordinating fabrics grouped in sub-design categories like country chic, glamorous, traditional, metro, etc. You can customize almost anything here...find a sofa style and choose your fabric or create your own home office suite with mix and match pieces and bookcase elements. The design consultants at this store actually know their stuff and aren't just salespeople. They will spend time with you on picking fabrics, measurements, and all those pesky details. And while everything here is pricey, it should last a lifetime, so this is a good place to shop for an investment piece like a gorgeous bed or solid sofa. read more

Beautiful furniture! We just purchased a new home and we decided to go furniture shopping. So far we've been to Ashley Furniture, Haverty's, Crate & Barrel and Pottery Barn. After visiting all of those stores we have to say the quality of the furniture here is superb. Very solid construction and beautifully designed and arranged. The service was just as amazing as their furniture. As soon as you walked into the door they were warm and welcoming. From previous visits to other stores, this is not always the case. The sales associate introduced herself and then left us to peruse the items at our own leisure. When we were almost done she checked back with us and answered any questions we might have had. Awesome store! I would totally recommend them to friends in the future. read more

The furniture looks great when new, but within a few years ( 4 in my case) the finish starts to chip and wear, and looks like some cheap stuff. Even the hardware starts to give. Customer service is very slow to respond. Very disappointing. Seems like a classy operation, until they have to fix something. Then the experience is very poor. read more

Bought our bed at Ethan allen after a recommendation from a friend after a nightmare of ordering from an online retailer- we ended up sending that bed back after two replacements and three repairmen. What a relief to have such a smooth and amazing experience at Ethan allen! From the gorgeous store, to the great customer support provided by Betty, to the professional guys who showed up to put it together. My favorite thing is that it's a huge, very solid, beautiful bed and doesn't make any noise at all. After installation there was one section missing some stain and they sent someone right out to fix it and now you can't even tell where the issue was. Our experience with the design team (especially Tere), management and service had been exemplary until EA corporate took over the Richmond, VA store. The poor communication, internal finger pointing and lack of professionalism of the new management along with the cold corporate feel of the store has made sure we will no longer purchase from this company. read more

The designer who helped me, Judy B, was exceptional and the most helpful. She was interested in what my tastes and lifestyle was so that she could recommend items and fabrics. She was in large part the reason that Ethan Allen is my go to furniture store. Terrible service. We ordered dining room furniture and were initially told a delivery date. The date came and went and no furniture. We called repeatedly and left messages for people to cll us back. No one did. We have even spoken to people who told us they would call us back with an estimate. We never heard back from them. WE PAID FOR FURNITURE AND CAN NOT GET AN ANSWER FROM SOMEONE ON WHEN WE CAN EXPECT DELIVERY. What happened to this once amazing furniture store? Stay far away. read more
