First off: beware of the aggressive speed bumps in the parking lot! Second: I often forget about World Market as a place to shop for nearly everything. From international snacks and sauces to a dining room table. I enjoy browsing through the snack aisles for delicious treats that you wouldn't find at a typical grocery store. They also have quite the spread of furniture items at pretty good prices! Beware that if the "in-stock" inventory online says "1", that likely means its a floor model, and those are NOT to be sold to customers. Also, go ahead and sign up for the membership (free) and get 15% off your first purchase!! If you use curbside pick-up, they currently have a 10% off items as well. I love their pillow and rug selection. Lots of unique styles with Asian, African and South American designs. I about cleaned out the jewelry department and bought lots of gifts. The Indian inspired backpacks and purses were beautiful, and reasonably priced. I spent along of time in the kitchen area and found some lovely mosaic teacups. And I also enjoyed the gourmet food aisles where I collected several scone mix packages and some European goods, teas from England, salad dressings and pretzels from Germany, cookies from Switzerland, chocolates from Belgium. The staff could be a little more friendly, but the beverage manager was helpful when we asked about some products. My cart runneth over with fabulous finds, and although I don't frequent the Short Pump area much, when I do, this place is a must!! read more

I'm going for a modern, but cozy boho vibe in my house. Slowly but surely, room by room, it's coming together! I love wandering World Market for decor. They have very reasonable prices and tons of items that fit my aesthetic. I really enjoy my visits to this eclectic international store. It's a nice mix of home goods, practical furnishings, kitchen items, decor, and perishables. I've been able to find affordable international snack brands (Milka comes to mind but also those delicious Canadian maple cookies). I've also purchased a little globe for my desk at work, a hand-held pretty fan, bunny ears, a cute bracelet, and much more. It's an excellent spot for unique gifting options. Today I went to cost_plus_world_market in Hanover Virginia, and boy was the manager Jim not nice. I would like to send him some Christmas love cause he needs it. I was in there to buy my Christmas Mince pies and chocolate. While I was shopping I found this bargain Milka 2.99. I was so convinced it was the wrong price I found an associate to check it, she said yep that's right...The reason I questioned it was cause the 2.5 oz plain milka was 2.99. The associate said "oh they must be all the same price" So I ended up taking a picture. And I got 1 When I got to the register the nice lady said it rang up at 6.99, I took out my phone and showed her the photo and she said let me adjust it, I just need a manager (that would be Jim) He came up and looked at it and said nope 6.99. I showed him the picture and he said nope 6.99. I said well this is where it was, he wouldn't even look at me. I advised him that I got an associate to look at it. Jim said sorry she's wrong. The problem wasn't the candy bar at the end it was just the way Jim treated me in front of everybody wouldn't look at me,acknowledge me. When I asked his name, his answer was Jim...and you can call whatever 800 number you like. I have NEVER had a bad experience at @costplusworldmarket till today. I haven't been to World Market in awhile, but I'm about to do some decorating so I dropped in. World Market is along the lines of Pier 1 Imports, but also offers foods and wines from around the globe. I actually went to both stores yesterday, and was much more impressed with World Market's offerings. I was immediately inspired and have decided on a color palette along with curtain panels, pillows, (paint) and a new piece of furniture or two. My redesign is already done in my head. For the people I care about, on their birthday I like to make something I like to call "crap baskets" basically a basket or bag full of food, wine, candy and knick knacks. Sometimes a dish or two. With everything here in Miami, I still feel like it's missing something because there's no World Market. If you're unfamiliar, think of this as a Pier One with food, drinks (including alcoholic) from all over the world and jewelry and accessories that are just as cool and unique as the furniture. This place is great for anything from gourmet chocolate to spices and from all over the world, to candies and sodas from your childhood, even furniture, paintings, and some of the coolest jewelry around! This is my go-to after a stressful week during exams to reward myself with a tasty treat. I usually go for the hazelnut Quadrattini wafers, Mona Loa chocolate-covered macadamias, a nice bar of Milka German chocolate, or a bar of Lindt pistachio. I love to just come in here and browse the food section :). If you ever want to make a gift basket full of amazing goodies people will actually use, this is surely your place as well. Did I mention this was also my go-to for spices? They have it ALL and for super cheap! Just save and wash your old spice bottles because some spices are in bags and are sold for only 2 bucks!! You can find Ethiopian berbere, mild-hot indian curries, Jamaican jerk, herbs de provence, vanilla beans, North African spice blend, and, of course, all of the basics. They used to make an amazing garlic pepper blend that I put on all of my meats and in all of my soups, but I haven't seen it for a while. Whenever I'm looking for a cool, trendy piece of statement jewelry, I always check here first. Sometimes you have to sort through some weird stuff, but there are always a handful of A+ winner pieces for about $10. Can't beat it! I find THE BEST dangle earrings here, hands down. It's the only place I find a lot of stylish options that aren't to heavy for my ears (my ears are prone to stretching of the piercing). I always get tons of complements on all of the jewelry I get here. Sometimes I even find super cute purses here for $14 or less and they hold up well, too. It have never been to or heard of the store until now and it blew me away that I hadn't been here after living in Richmond for five years. While their selection isn't huge, it most certainly is unique. If you have never been here before, I would suggest taking a look around at the very least. Great place with awesome products. It's similar to Trader Joe's, so it's very unlikely that you'll find any popular/ common brands here when it comes to food products. But with that said, all the food that they have is of great quality. Yes, certain food products may cost more, but you definitely get what you pay for. Another great thing to note is they have an awesome selection of craft beers and to add to that, they have frequent sales on the beer. I've only been here twice, so I'm sure there's a lot that I haven't noticed yet. You can spend a lot of time in here looking and thinking about what you want next. My next door neighbor turned me on to World Market. She had these exotic white folding screens that she used in lieu of drapes in her front floor-to-ceiling windows of her Church Hill row house, which I thought was so clever. They went about three quarters of the way up, leaving enough window at the top to let light in and they looked really cool. When she told me she had gotten the screens at World Market, I immediately planned my first foray. While I didn't want to copy her use of the folding screens, I wanted to use screens to section off a part of my guest room, but I didn't find any on that trip. This is the kind of store where merchandise changes frequently, so if you see it and love it, buy it immediately! I'll keep checking back for my screens and one of these days, I'll get lucky. read more

When you first enter they have scarves and home decor (framed artwork, statues, etc.) to your left, jewelry straight ahead, furniture in the back, outdoor furniture and all the snacks that you can imagine in the middle, and wine and kitchen items to your left. The pricing is the store is a bit unusual. The scarves, jewelry, and kitchen stuff are on the more affordable side- I bought a mug with intricate details for $6, a sale set for about $15, and a scarf for $10, but the snacks, especially the international snacks are on the more expensive side. There were a bunch of international foods and treats, furniture, old fashioned candy. Just walking around made me want to buy something because there was so much to see. Cost Plus World Market moved into the Charlotte, NC area a couple of years before I moved back to New Jersey. Unfortunately, we do not have Cost Plus World Markets in New Jersey and the liquor laws of the Garden State would probably negate any of the things I like about World Market. However, there is a World Market down the street from the hotel I am staying at in the Richmond area. It is next to the Best Buy and in front of Tom Leonard's. I used to really like World Market around the holidays since it is a good place to buy wine, beer and champagne. It is also a good place to buy candy and stocking stuffers as well. Lots of other stuff such as wine/beer glasses eclectic furniture. I have stopped into Cost Plus World Market a couple of times recently to satisfy my sweet tooth after working out. World Market has a large selection of 1/2 bottle wines that would be great to bring one of the many BYOB restaurants that are near my home in New Jersey. read more

World Market is a really cool store. World Market offer customers different foods and drinks from around the world. I came to World Market seeking a dessert one of my college basketball teammates introduced to me (He's from Sydney,Australia). He brought me back a popular Australian dessert called Tim Tam's after winter break. I instantly became hooked to the Tim Tam's. World Market carries different flavored Tim Tam's. It's a chocolate biscuit(cookie) dessert. I've been exploring different desserts from around the world here. World Market has some unique food and drinks that normal grocery store do not carry. Customer service is good and employees are usually polite.You will be sucked into exploring all the unique things. It's best to go when you have time on your hands. read more

Wow, I cannot believe how RUDE the girl at the cash register was. My daughter & I took a trip to the store on our birthday. The store was like I remember it -- good stuff & a large variety. We went to the checkout & the girl at one of the registers was an incomprehensible bitch. Not only did she snap at my daughter & I several times while we were checking out, but was she was snapping and creating a hostile work environment for the other employees in the store as she snapped out orders & criticisms. Wish I had gotten her name. I still haven't taken my purchases out of the bag -- I'll probably make the 20 minute drive back to the store & return my $100 worth of stuff. read more

Made my first trip to World Market yesterday. I didn't know what to expect and I think my experience was even better because of that. Vintage toys, party decorations, serving plates, $25 animal lamps, curries, every mason jar adapter you could ever need, throw pillows, random unique sodas... It's a great place to shop for gifts, entertaining, or home decor. I liked their tea and coffee area. My roommate has been looking for an alternative to her French press and they definitely have it here. They have a copper and glass drip coffee maker under their own label which is so beautiful it looks like a piece of art for your counter. If I remember to take a picture I'll post it. They also carry bigger labels like Chemex and Bodum. I adore the floral tea tins and Turkish coffee ladles. They have my favorite green tea kit kats at $7.99/bag too. I'm pretty sure they're $6.99 at some Asian groceries but you can save yourself a trip because the variety of Asian snacks isn't half bad! read more

Recently stopped by this store and have vowed that a vast majority of my wedding gift requests are fulfilled by shopping at this store, or one of the many others in the chain. Amazing home furnishings, and a beer and wine selection to die for. I purchased a Beers of the World 10 pack, and a self-selected 6 pack, along with the hard to find Monty Python Holy Grail Ale. When I inquired as to whether I could select a beer for my six pack selection that was only sold as a six pack, the gentleman in the area helpfully opened a package and allowed me to purchase it individually.
