Ethan did a couple projects for us. The first involved staining a new cedar fence. The second involved refinishing our front doors, which had been badly damaged by weather.
Ethan Darcey Painting came highly recommended to us by a colleague. Ethan came out to our house to bid the jobs and in the process provided us with a great deal of insight and information on different approaches to accomplish what we needed. He was patient and informative in helping us understand what was best for our specific situation. Within a day he provided us with complete bids which included a range of alternatives.
He began work shortly after we accepted his bid. He was at the house promptly at 8:00 each morning and rarely left before 5 or 6 pm. When he was done each day he cleaned up so well one would not have known he had been there.
His work was perfect. He took great care to work the stain into the grain of the fence boards and into all the nooks and crannies, to ensure weather protection for years to come. As a result, water simply beads off the fence and we are confident it will remain new looking for many years.
We were so impressed with his work on our fence that we asked him to refinish our front doors, which had bee badly damaged by weather over the years. They are solid, heavy, fir doors and would require a great deal of care to refinish them. He removed each door and stripped and sanded it on site. He applied multiple coats of finish and other protectants and now they look better than new and the finish is silky smooth. Before commencing work he consulted carefully with us to ensure selection of the right stain. We could not be more pleased with the outcome.
