I'd added parks in La Mesa and surrounding areas to my favorites in a map app a while ago, intending to check them out but hadn't. I was in the area of this park recently, and passed a parking area while driving on Bancroft. I was in need of a restroom so I turned at the first road after and that led to another, smaller parking area. I parked there, found the restroom I needed, then walked around a little bit. The park is on a slope. There is a covered area for family or company picnics@ some sort of a ball court. I walked down the slope to the other parking area. A dog would find plenty to sniff around at, but I didn't see much so I headed back to my truck. The parking area started filling. Some cars and vans with their clients, on outings. Some guy parked next to me was talking to himself and dumped what looked like grocery store dumpster finds out behind his vehicle, I guess to go through them. And commenting on stuff in my direction. Ok, time to go. 10 am by then so I made a mental note to come early again next time. read more

Came by here to eat our food from Valley Farm Market on our group get-together with Yelp Elites S & M. You would have to take quite a turn after seeing the sign on Bancroft if you are driving from the Valley Farm Market. Parking spots looked quite limited as there was only one way in and then one way out. The table we got was perfect for us to enjoy our BBQ ribs, chicken, and salads under the eucalpytus trees. But would say some of the other seating areas were pretty much in the sun, so wish there was a bit more shade to those closer to the parking lot. The area looked very family friendly, lots of shade, and the grassy areas looked perfect for dogs to run around. I read in another review that dogs aren't allowed there but don't think I saw the sign during our visit there, so might have missed it. The dogs that were there that day were quite friendly and no one seemed to mind. There were two pavilion areas towards the left of the park which were well shaded where parties can be hosted. Bathrooms are nearby the higher elevated one. Overall looked like a decent park. read more

Eucalyptus County Park is my family's current go to park. A park that was remodeled a few years back. A park that needed a facelift real bad. Is now a decent park to bring the family too. The work that was done to it is not bad. They really did a good job. The last park my family was going to for a couple of years is now too small for my grand kid to play in. He has outgrown it. So we needed to find a bigger park with a bigger jungle gym with more slides and more swings. We found that park in Spring Valley off of Edgewood Drive. With one entrance in and with one exit out. One needs to pay attention to the entrance sign because it is really easy to miss. Drove right passed it the first time. But once you find the entrance, you will have no problem finding parking. The bathroom, port-a-potty, is also in the parking area. Which seemed to be clean and in good working order at the time. Once your at park. There is a small wooden bridge you need to cross to get to the actual park. The park itself is full of tall trees that provide lots of shade on warm sunny days. A nice place to have a picnic. A covered area with picnic tables that resemble what you would see at a high school. There is also two separate play areas on different sides of the park. One that is gated and one with a low brick wall. Both areas are safe and offer different types of park rides but both having swings, my grandson's favorite. A park that was remodeled a year or two back is now our destination for when my grand kid wants to go to a park. Very spacious with plenty of room to run around in. Lots of trees to have a picnic under. Plenty of parking. Lots of swings. The list of good things about this park are plenty. This park is a winner. read more

I cannot say enough positive about this park. My parents took me here and I took my daughters here. There are different places to climb and swing within the park. In fact, some of the same bars have been here for many years. The trees are what make this park. Very well manicured and lots of shade to enjoy an amazing day. I love parks! This park is a park that brings back fond memories of my childhood. There was not a year that my mother brought my family for one of 5 siblings, 6 including myself, for a birthday celebration. The park has definitely seen better days, but it stills has not lost its ability provide space for families to enjoy and afternoon or evening. We brought the grand kids to play here today for our "three park day". This place is still as beautiful as it was when I was a kid playing here. There are two seperate play grounds here. The lower play ground is better for bigger kids while the upper is better suited for smaller children. There are many concrete tables here that seem perfect for a school field trip. They also have a horseshoe area to play that is away from the kids. There is a huge boulder in the center stating that the tree's were planted in the 1800's. They have restrooms available which are almost always clean and stocked with toilet paper. The kids had a great time! Just be careful allowing them to play on the spinners too long. My baby got so dizzy he threw up half way home. Thank God we were able to pull over in time. Lovely park! read more

Great little grassy park right on the middle of La Mesa. This park offers play grounds, picnic tables, and parking. Dogs are allowed but must stay leashed. I like this park because it is not just a flat piece of land.. There are hills. There are plenty of trees as well to offer shade on those hot afternoons. read more

Great park. Some of it has shade but large section in the sun. Gets too hot. Lots of picnic tables. Many picnic tables in the shade. Restrooms are outhouses at the moment. It looks like they are still remodeling them. Doing some renovations in the upper portion. Lots of eucalyptus trees so you can find some shade. A lot of grass areas to run and kick balls. read more

Favorite place to sit down or lay down to rest or have a picnic. Lots of shade underneath trees and a handful of people come here throughout the day. Have porta potties and a plastic sink. Wouldn't come here at night though since they don't have much light and it looks super creepy. read more

First time going to this park, my family had a reunion there just yesterday. I saw the sign that says no dogs allowed off leash and yet all day from 8am until 4pm (time that I left) there were at least 60 dogs off leash. Rare was the dog that was on a leash being walked by their human. At one point a group of about 20 people had a meetup and each person had a dog, ALL were off leash and next to the playground with the slides. The park employees were there cleaning up and nobody said anything even though it's stated in the park rules. Thankfully no dog fights and no kids getting bit which was a huge worry. My biggest complaint though has to do with the fenced in area that houses the swings with the wheel chair access. I saw what I think was a 3yro walk in to the area with no shoes on and he screamed bloody murder at the top of his lungs. That foam was so hot the bottom of my converse felt like they were melting. I can't imagine what that child felt but his screaming was all I needed to hear to know it wasn't good. His reaction was to run to the other side and jump on the bench at the other end of the playground. His mom was a few feet behind him and didn't know why he was screaming. I walked to them and offered them water from my water bottle, his little feet were bright red and he couldn't stop crying. Mom said she had never been to this park before. Just 30 minutes later I saw another child who may have been around the same age, fall off a swing and land on his side with his face and forearm touching that foam padding on the ground, he too screamed bloody murder. This seems like a horrible design flaw to not have shade in this area. I'm sure this is neither the first nor the last time this will happen unless this is fixed by providing shade. As for the other areas it is very nice, we got there on a Sunday and were able to procure the area near the restrooms which was great as my grandma is 85 and uses a walker. It was a little tiring for her to have to walk that far from the parking lot but she made it. read more

This park opens at 5:30am. It's a great place to take your dog to run around before the regular crowd of kids gets there. If it's kinda rainy, the kids might not even show up. It's fenced and plenty of shade. On the other side of the fence it looks like there are some gravestones with wooden crosses on them. Interested to know the story on that. read more

A small park on Mount Helix, it has swings and the basic park-stuff. Nice location, but only if you're going to Mount Helix or in the area for some reason. read more

Overall, not a bad park. I didn't notice any oddballs around which is always nice. There are bathrooms there, but I didn't go check them out. The playground is nice and newer. However, there just isn't really any shade and it gets so hot there. A plus however is that it is fenced in for those running toddlers. read more

The Park itself is beautiful very green however to park at the top could be a little dangerous seeing as the very narrow entrance is for both incoming and outgoing traffic, the top playground could use some shade for this very hot summer but it's updated and it's very clean as are the bathrooms. Bring some blankets sit under a tree and have a snack with your kids while they run around in all the green grass! read more

Cute and quiet little park with lots of hills and trees. Major downside though is that there is no shade at all on the playground so we couldn't stay long. I'll never understand why parks don't put up awning over the sections with the playground equipment. read more

I love this place for a pleasant outdoor lunch. Easy in and out and plenty of places to sit and watch others playing horse shoes. It is great to see everyone enjoying the outdoors. I've been bringing my son to this park for years amd it hosted some of the features of my childhood parks. The big metal slide, the big set of swings, and chinup bars. Also a unique hillside lacation made it fantastic. To my great sorrow, all of the "old" features are gone with no explanation. Really a shame. read more

I remember going to here as a kid with my little brothers and some friends. We used to try and catch crawdads and guppies in the little stream that used to run through the front of the park. We used to also always bring a picnic lunch and stay there all day! it was always SAFE and a lot of fun. I hope it remains that way for generations to come! read more

I grew up going to this park playing on the playground and catching crawdad's in the creek with my family and friends. The park has changed. They got rid of the death trap merry-go-round a long time ago and updated the playground equipment. It's good for kids birthday parties. The bathroom could use an upgrade for sure. read more

This is my favorite park it`s the family park that has all of our reunions and gatherings. Lots of tree shade and plenty for the kids.
