This review is wildly overdue, about three years overdue, but I've been meaning to write it because Eugene Electric Bicycles did such a great job on my bike. They converted my 2010 Marin mountain bike into an e-bike, and it was not a simple project. I have a small frame, wanted solid range, and needed it to work safely with a rear child seat. Alexander went back and forth with me for months figuring out what would actually work. We initially tried to make a triangle battery fit inside the frame. Once the real measurements came in, it was clear the manufacturer specs did not match reality and it just was not going to work. Instead of forcing it, Alexander pivoted. He found a rack with the right weight capacity and then custom-machined and reinforced it so it would be sturdy enough for both the battery and a kid seat. That attention to safety and detail mattered to me. Throughout the process he was thoughtful and straightforward about tradeoffs, timing, and cost. Nothing was oversold. When I had a quick issue after pickup, they replied to my email quickly and helped me troubleshoot it right away. Three years later, the bike has been completely reliable. The setup feels stable and balanced, and it has allowed me to keep riding in ways that really matter to me. Is it possible to give less than a star? Purchased a $2,000 Urtopia ebike (Carbon 1 ST) on sale about a month ago. Salesperson was uncertain about what accessories came with the bike and assured me that the medium frame (the only one in stock) would fit me. At 6 foot, I fell between the medium and large frame size, but the sakesperson assured me that the medium size would work. Because of some medical problems (shoulder replacement), I was unable toreally ride the bike for several weeks. After taking my first extensive ride, I realized that the seat post was too short. I rode to the shop where the service guy nicely replaced the seat post with a new one, kept my old seat post, and never mentioned payment. I assumed it was part of the $2,000 purchase price. I returned to the store today (6/19/26), as the ebike controller was not functioning properly. The people at the shop had no idea what the problem was, but the service guy thought the problem was me. To paraphrase what he said: "It may be that this bike is too technologically challenging for an old person like you." The rude service guy also said I skipped out on the payment for the seat post. To add further insult, the shop was unable to solve the problem with the controller. In addition, the cheap little tailight that came with the bike broke on my second ride when I hit a small bump. I hope to resolve the problem diretly with the Urtopia Company. I love the bike, but not the shop. There are many fine bike shops in Eugene who stand behind what they sell. Eugene Electric Bikes is not one of those. read more

Horrible and unresponsive service. Incredibly infuriating dealing with people who will NOT stand behind their products, do NOT return calls, completely ghost you even on warranty work. NO follow through at all. I purchased and Aventon. They are responsive. Same day response to issues and questions, however they do not have any sway over this business. I've been in the market for an e-bike for the past several months. I have enjoyed walking the loop around the river. On several occasions I've inquired of riders on their preference of bikes and why. Repeatedly I was told I must go to Eugene Electric Bicycles and check them out. I did just that this past Friday with my brother-in-law. We spent well over an hour looking at options and were offered a test ride along the bike path. We both did so and had a great time. After taking a day to think about the bike and the fun we had had, we went back the next day, and both purchased the Aventon models. Got all the accessories to ensure safety! Can't say enough about the 3 amigos (J/Josh/Kris owners) as they were more concerned about educating us versus just getting us in/out of the shop. Highly recommend! My wife bought an electric bike from them roughly five months ago - (she uses it to travel to and from work). Very knowledgeable and friendly people to work with. They let my wife test drive several models, and when she made her decision, they suited up the bike and delivered it to our house (they didn't even charge for delivery). I recently took the bike in for a tuneup (it's been 5 months since we bought it). Once again, very friendly crew and easy to work with. Horrible customer service. I bought a Gazelle Medeo in April - it has left me stranded 3 times with the chain coming off and locking up. Today I had to walk it to their shop 5 miles from where it broke again..... They made me feel like it was my fault. Offering to fix it - but I have to pay for any parts. When I asked for a loaner - they said I would have to pay for that too. I am a 64 year old woman! I chose to walk home - another 5 miles. They either do not know how to fix it properly or it is a bad product. I wish I would have gone with a more reputable shop. read more

These guys are awesome again. First they put a real nice Bafang system on my Yuba Mundo and scaled it down to make it more like the German ones using a little less power. They also fixed my Luna Cycle charger with a new barrel connector in a day. I went in on a Tuesday morning, all I wanted to do is browse the selection of bikes, the Styles, the prices, it was gunna take 5 minutes to get in ideal to know how much money I need to bring back. Two people (one couple) were wrapping up. I understand this covid changed everything around. But it's been atleast 6 months. The guy working assuming the owner had to ask his partner how many people could fit in the building. He was very hesitant in answering If we could look around for a minute or if he needed us to stand outside. It's like he didn't know what I was sayin but told me yeah 5 minutes outside would fine. I waited my 5 minutes maybe even longer. People were not done nor did he wave or tell us an update. The two bikes I saw were over 1500. The bike I bought off the internet was such a great deal. They were incredibly nice and knowledgable, and clearly are doing this work for the love of the trade.
