Now I have had the opportunity to have them do some work for me and I am also very impressed. They have a gutter cleaning/repair/maintenance team. Our home was built 28 years ago and after trying to seal the corners and joints for years, I finally decided to have it done professionally. I am also almost 70 and did not want to clean the gutters anymore. They added two downspouts where there were low spots and where I noticed overflowing with the heavy rains. They also found one area where the original gutters were not installed properly which has caused rot. I am SO happy I hired them to work for me. What should have been a straightforward 300-square-foot hardwood flooring installation turned into…read morea nightmare of poor workmanship, unprofessional behavior, and inadequate repairs. We paid $6,800 expecting a high-quality job, but what we got was an exhausting ordeal. From start to finish, the experience was riddled with issues that we had to identify and report ourselves--problems that any competent professional should have caught immediately. The quality of the work was shockingly bad. On day one, Liquid Nails glue was tracked across the floor, leaving visible shoe prints and hardened globs that were never properly cleaned. Many boards were cracked or splintered, and there uneven seams in the flooring because the lines weren't properly started, according to the contractors who later fixed the job. The subfloor wasn't leveled, causing high and low spots that ultimately required sanding. To make matters worse, the second contractor we hired to fix the mess pointed out that parts of the floor weren't nailed down properly particularly around the walls, and the nailing overall was insufficient. They also found numerous "H-joints," a hallmark of rushed and sloppy workmanship. The baseboards, which we paid $700 to have installed, were no better. They were nailed to drywall instead of studs and could be pulled off with minimal effort. Excessive caulk was used to cover gaps and poorly cut boards, and additional wood putty stains were left behind during their attempts at repairs. The lack of professionalism was equally disappointing. One of the installers loudly berated a younger worker to the point that both we and our neighbors could hear it. It was clear that no quality inspections were being done. We had to point out every issue ourselves, and the repair attempts they made often made things worse instead of better. Despite repeated complaints, the company failed to resolve the issues. The first repair attempt involved replacing one marked board and adjusting a seam, but they didn't clean the Liquid Nails residue, leaving even more wood putty stains in the process. A second installer tried twice to remove the glue but failed both times. In the end, we were offered either a board replacement or a "deep discount." The so-called "deep discount" only covered the cost of repairs and felt like a minimal gesture given the extent of the issues. Our best decision was taking the repairs out of their hands. The professionals who took over spent time explaining all the issues and were shocked at the poor workmanship. I regret not hiring them in the first place because, in the end, we'll never get the finish we initially wanted, and there are issues with the floor we're just going to have to live with. Save yourself the frustration and hire someone else. Arcata ProFloor's lack of quality control, unprofessional behavior, and resistance to taking accountability--offering only the bare minimum to address their mistakes--make them impossible to recommend. What should have been a simple project turned into weeks of stress, nights spent sleeping in my office, and deep disappointment.

I waited years to post this review to see if I would feel better about it. I do not. Blaine Jr comes through and does a long winded presentation that makes you feel like the company will be professional. I needed my sunroom roof redone since it was leaking. In actuality, the whole sunroom probably needed to be replaced. The sunroom was switched from glass to plastic per my request. He told me during our long meeting that I would be able to discuss it more when the crew came in. I came home and they had already started and no discussion was had with me about anything. I figured they knew what they were doing so I just went with it. The next day I came home and there was double the amount of support beams that blocked out a good amount of sun. I found this odd as the plastic is significantly lighter than the glass that was previously there. I feel like he forgot he was using plastic and planned it for the glass. I paid for more wood that wasn't needed and the sunroom does not look as good with all the extra beams. It also started to leak within a couple months again and the crew had to come back out and fix it. They changed it up a little and added weather strip that looks forever to come in. I'm a few years out now and the sunroom is leaking again and every time I look at how many beams there are up there I'm upset again about the whole thing. I should have waited and replaced the entire sunroom and gone with someone else. On top of it, I felt like Blaine Jr was dismissive, condescending, and kind of a know it all. I had to request to not speak to him anymore and did all ongoing discussions with the lead instead. On a side note... the crew was very nice and did their best.

We had a small problem with the water supply but Miguel was happy to work with me to solve it. They cleaned both the main house and an out building. Because they hadn't filed the permits they pushed out an additional week with uncertain weather. When we asked about it they bailed on the job. Huge waste of time. So unprofessional. Miguel, Your reply is ridiculous. We failed to prepare? We have been waiting on you for weeks. And you told us you could do it this week because we had enough days without rain. YOU FAILED TO PREPARE BY SUBMITTING THE PERMITS.
