A friends son who goes there told me just to call and visit that the staff is very accommodating and addressed all my concerns. They also let him visit a couple times before enrollment (Mrs. King is assigned teacher is amazing) and all the parents seem so friendly and good, wholesome families. I also wasn't sure if my son was going to take to it. He loved it from day one! The teachers all have smiling faces. I love that they work more on academics than some of the other schools seemed like their were more into creativity or independence. Even though they do all that too. Only after a week, I see such a difference in my 3 year old. He actually tells me each day what he learns. The staff is kind if they have accident and I feel safe having my son in their care and he is progressing as a student as well. I wish I knew the cute songs he is singing about school.

GBSH is a warm and caring environment where our children are flourishing. Not only do our children love Ms. Williams, we do too! They are challenged academically without losing the fun that preschool should provide. Also, the indoor playground is a great idea as our kids' recess at their prior school was frequently cancelled in the summer due to excessive heat and in the winter due to rain and cold. We love that our kids get to burn off energy EVERY day regardless of the weather. We toured numerous preschools and day care facilities before choosing GBSH for the quality of its teachers and the instant rapport that our kids had with Ms. Williams on our first visit.

After the last rejection, I spoke w her about really bringing a great talent this year. We bought her a guitar for her birthday last year . She has spent 10 months teaching herself and has mastered "TheStar Spamgle Banner." Try-outs were last week and she was so excited. She didn't make "the cut" again. This is not about talent...it's about who the teachers that pick the talent like or their "favorite." i wiped her tears away for the 3rd year...and explained to her exactly that. They should allow anyone who tries out to be in the "show." It's unfair and unkind Frankly...

Green Oaks consistently maintains the highest API in the San Juan Unified school district. Their 5th graders even had the highest science STAR scores in Sacramento county last year. The learning is there, and students are challenged with enriching activities. When you walk around campus you see kids who are respectful toward one another and who follow the rules. Great after school programs like Choir, Dance (taught by a former Kings dancer) and piano are offered for a nominal fee. Before school, the school offers band to 4th-6th graders for free. The teachers are experienced and teach what works. They know their stuff and the kids love each and every one of them. The kids are happy, the teachers love to be there, and parents feel safe leaving their kids for the day. It's an amazing school, in a massive school district, and it's performing above the rest.

I think this overall school gets a bad wrap because of its location and age, but for me that character is what makes it unique. I honestly feel that this school is very kid/family oriented and I know several parents from other schools feel the same way. Just as an example sporting events and pretty much all but especially football and basketball you will find pretty much a packed house. In a lot of cases their kids don't even play the sport, but it's much more about supporting the event or a friend/family playing. I know this happens at other schools as well but nothing that I have felt. Another example is how many people travel all over the surrounding areas to attend these same sporting events. I have been at an away game where RHS has more people attending than the opponent. That to me shows awesome school spirit, support and Tiger Pride! Everyone always asks me about this school and what it's like and again because of its wrap. I always have the same answer. It's what you put into it. All of my kids have excelled from here with one just graduating Sac State and another still attending. All of them have gotten involved in various activities like soccer, cheer, Avid and yearbook. This is the key to me to your success not only here but in life. You have to add value and not just be a taker. At some point when you just take eventually the tank runs out and you blame other things or circumstances and not the person in the mirror. Last point...have every single teacher been 100% and do I agree with everything about their teaching methods? No and again this is also a part of life. You are not going to see eye to eye with everyone, but overall for the most part everyone working here is committed to your kids and the school counselors are terrific. So I can say for my kids and myself "Once a Tiger always a Tiger"....

The school claims to pride itself on its Catholic values and sense of community. This couldn't be further from the truth. While there are families there for the right reasons, the majority are not. There is a huge problem with bullying, and it goes completely unaddressed. The kids are rude and many lack basic manners. Not a far departure from the parents who are simply there for status. This is much more a private school than a Catholic school. This review is 100% towards the school. St. John the Baptist Church is wonderful and unfortunately has very little to do with the school. This year can not be over soon enough, taking my kids to a much better environment.

They were just starting on the renovation and rebuilding the library as I was leaving. This school has pretty good school spirit. The locker rooms and gym were clean. They have a pool that they use for PE for some grade levels. They have great art classes and a wood shop. Some math and science teachers are rude and won't work with the kids. Other math and English teachers are well mannered and nice. I'm glad that they remodeled because sections of the school needed some revamping. Somehow I wish they kept the viking in the quad because it had been there since the 60's. The remodeling has helped in the seating for graduations (which can be large and crowded). It has also prevented students from escaping off campus during lunch time (a popular thing to do). Parking was tough when I went to Oakmont. The parking lot was easily full. Which makes me wonder how everyone finds a spot now that that they have put portables in sections of the parking lot. I'm sure there are drugs in lockers on campus (they need more drug sniffing dogs to come on random days to sniff them out). They always threatened it when I went, but would never check and students knew it. Then again, I'm sure that there are drugs on any high school campus you go too. They have also remodeled the field- no more dirt on the track and there is AstroTurf- a great idea because before the field would puddle in areas when there was too much rain.
