I had minimal tools but was able to get it slid back together well enough to get me back to Burlington VT without going deaf. On a whim, I stopped at the Autozone, where they advertise "free advice." The employee I spoke with offered to come out to the car to take a look, and had pinpointed the problem within a few minutes. A small button-cell battery had somehow gotten into the rail on which the seat moves. He fished it out and all was well again. I offered him a $20 bill but he wouldn't take it even on my third and fourth tries. He just kept smiling and telling me to spend it on ice cream for me and the kids. He didn't make any money for Autozone with this, nor for himself, but he made a traveling family very happy and relieved. So we sing his and the company's praises!

Merry F_____ Christmas, stranded in a whiteout trying to get to Christmas dinner. A nice guy from ME DOT switched the passenger side to the drivers side and got me back on the road. A big shout out to Randy! I went to O'Reilly, and the same fellow who helped me the last visit, tried in earnest to help me again. See RON. He did not have the exact wiper because my car is new and has a new attachment. WHY do they do this? Wipers have been staying on cars for decades with no problem (just don't snap them), so why the hell do they need to confound the public with half a dozen different attachments!?? Ron tried several, intent on getting it to work, alas only not to be rewarded for his effort. I had to go to VW. But Ron is the epitome of great customer service. As another example, Ron told me if you're driving and feel a vibration, it's the snow and ice in the wheel. Sure enough, next day, I'm driving and thinking what is wrong NOW?!! Then remembered his sage advice. Once I got the embedded snow out of the wheels, all was well. Had Ron not offered that advice, I would have been spending time taking the car to the dealer.
