I am SO happy I found this salon! I did a quick search via Yelp and this salon was highly rated. I decided to give it a try (my gray hair was out of control and I failed miserably with an at-home hair color kit). I was booked with Loradona, who is one of the master colorists. She is a genius! Loradona is the sweetest gal and really listened to my goals about my hair. I am quite lazy and never heat style my hair. She fixed my at-home color and actually made my hair healthier! Loradona has been cutting and coloring my hair for almost a year now. I adore this woman. She has cut my pre-teen daughter's hair and she loved it! I was in desperate need of a wax and Michelle fit me in while my color was setting (she had a no-show). Michelle was quick and kept me chatting to distract from the waxing process. It isn't often that a company goes above and beyond to make a wrong right, but Annette and the staff of European Beauty Concepts did just that! I absolutely love my hair! I am changing my review. The owner actually contacted me, apologized, refunded my money and offered to style my hair when it grows back out. While this doesn't fix the hassle of pinning my bangs to the side and truly hating my current hair; it does show that the owner truly cares about her clients and the quality of the service given. I'll let y'all know how it goes when I get my hair cut by the owner. The atmosphere was lovely; my hair cut was disappointing. I showed the stylist a picture of how I wanted my hair cut. It shows bangs below the eyebrows tussled and casual. She asked me how long I wanted my bangs cut & I said, Below my eyebrows, I like longer bangs." My bangs are now 3/4" of an inch above my eyebrows and I feel like a Mayan Moe from the Three Stooges. I know my hair will grow back, but I told both the stylist and receptionist I was not happy and all they said is that they'd put a note in my file! NO need I won't be returning!!! read more

I have been patronizing EBC since right after they opened. Rosi has been my stylist for all those years. (28 or 29 years)I could not be happier. She is a wonderful stylist and a has helped my hair though some tuff times. I highly recommend Rosi if you want a great stylist. That being said the reception staff could definitely be a lot more welcoming. I alway feel when I arrive for an appointment they have no interest in being warm or welcoming. Same applies for when I pay and book my next appointment. I am a retired banker and know how important customer service is. The reception desk is the first experience new customers have. This salon is the best. Annette is patient and super knowledgeable. She doesn't shy away from a difficult bleach/toner job. I came in with orange hair, it had the texture of spaghetti and it was breaking with brushing and stretching--it was a disaster that I created at home trying to bleach my own hair from dark brown to platinum blonde. Annette came to my rescue. She was the only stylist that was willing AND able to take on my challenge. I had many stylist shy away from my super damaged hair from fear of my blaming them...which I knew I was the person that caused my hair issue. Friendly, patient and helpful staff. Excellent work, every time. Give them a try, you will be amazed at the care that you get, and the reasonable pricing that you get for such exceptional work. I have gotten waxing done there as well. I highly recommend EBC. I've recently moved to the area and am very, very picky about my hair salons as I am incredibly vain about my hair. I saw previous YELP reviews and decided to try it out. I called on Saturday and they got me in on Tuesday. Jamie is AMAZING! She loves coloring hair, and stays up to date on the latest coloring styles and techniques. I requested an ombré/balayage coloring and man did she ever deliver! It looks effortless and sun kissed and I'm obsessed. I am rather new to the area and was looking for a new salon. I am so glad I trusted the reviews on here! Sabrina worked wonders on my hair :) I went in with a head full of long LONG, thick hair and left with the cutest bob I've ever had (donating the hair, of course!) Everyone in the salon was super nice and informative. When I said I wanted to donate the hair, not only did they offer to donate it for me (I've had a few in the past that wouldn't do it), but they explained why they donate to Pantene Beautiful Lengths over Locks for Love. Even the owner came over and thanked me for my donation. Sabrina was awesome! She gave me advice for hair, skincare, AND makeup since we have similar skin types. I can't wait to try the suggestions she gave me. And the conversation didn't stop there. Have you ever been to a new salon where the girl was only interested in talking about hair? In most cases that probably wouldn't be a bad thing, but when you've got as much hair as I do, an hour and a half of hair talk gets old FAST! We talked about dogs, cars, you name it lol... She really knows how to make the customers sitting in her chair feel comfortable, even when they're new! It's unfortunate that I won't be living here long, as I've fallen in love with European Beauty Concepts- particularly Sabrina. I had an appointment with Allison on April 1. I asked for subtle highlights to blend in grey that is coming in. She put in full highlights and it really over processed my hair. It has been so frizzy ever sense. I was so upset when I left that I almost cried and couldn't loom at anyone. The facility is nice and some of the stylists may be good but I was really unhappy. I have not touched my hair with color since. All I can do is apply weekly hair masks and let it grow out. This was the worst color service I have ever received. read more

I have been going to Annette at EBC for four years, since I found her at a beauty show for my daughter's wedding, and love her. My hair has never looked better. I started coming here with long hair, wanting a more age appropriate style, and she worked her magic with cut and color. The salon is so glamorous, it's a treat just to walk in the door. They offer coffee, cappuccino, wine, teas and cookies! The salon did hair and makeup for my daughters whole bridal party, and did a wonderful job. I looked ten years younger, and received many compliments. My daughter was absolutely radiant on her wedding day. Her hair and makeup could not have been more beautiful. Whitley is fantastic! I have long thick hair and Whitley does a great job with hair cuts, styling and coloring. When I first came in my highlights had gotten way too light and she did a great job adding low lights and toning it down so that it looked more natural and I was able to grow it out without getting any obvious color difference at the root. The new salon is also great. I've been going to the old salon for almost 10 years and this is a major upgrade. It looks great and they make everything more enjoyable. Now the chairs at the shampoo stations are massage chairs so you can relax while your getting your hair washed or waiting for highlights. Definitely try a latte or cappuccino! read more

I received a great haircut from Loredana. My hair color was rather disappointing, but because she did a good job with my cut (albeit the cut I asked for was rather simple), I trusted her to give my baby his first professional haircut. After showing a picture and explaining what I wanted, my child's beautiful head of hair was chopped and buzzed to almost nothing - not even remotely close to what I requested. Not only was the cut not what I had asked for, the version of the cut she gave my baby is not at all attractive, and the sides are completely mismatched, despite the fact that my baby was so well behaved throughout his cut. You would think a stylist would understand the care to be taken for such a monumental moment for a child and mother and would have really listened and followed my wishes for his cut. I'm so devastated and will never be returning. read more

Hair stylists Rosie and Anthony are absolute gems. In addition to being extremely talented, they are both kind and friendly people, have remained at the salon for a number of years, and are always willing to try to fit in their ever growing clientele. Though I no longer live in the area I still return for an excellent hair cut and color at European Beauty Concepts whenever I am able. I have medium length thick wavy hair that can be troublesome to cut, but both Anthony and Rosie have a real intuition about hair. I visited European Beauty Concepts while on vacation. I was in desperate need of a haircut, but was a little leery about trying the "unknown". The Salon was able to get me in right away. First off the salon is beautiful. It lives up to its name with its European chic and modern open concept. My hair stylist was Brianna. She was pleasant, easy to talk to and took her time getting my haircut just right. Let me just say, Im a pretty specific person when it comes to my hair (and I have a LOT of it). My hair isn't the easiest to tame or cut, but Brianna did a fabulous job . She is well beyond her years in experience. She was precise and somehow managed to tame my mane into a beautifully blown out hair style. We vacation in this area regularly and I will definitely plan on visiting again next year! read more

Since 2014 I have been going to EBC and received 5 star service but unfortunately the service has declined over the past year. Today was the third time in the past year that when I arrived at the facility I was told my stylist is unavailable... we were unable to contact you. Yet my correct phone number is listed and they send me text reminders of my upcoming appointment. Even though they proceeded to accommodate me when the next available stylist had an opening for a men's haircut it still was an hour wait. I am not one to complain because I run a business as well but when customer service continues to be lacking I think management needs to be made aware. The upfront staff acted as if they were doing me a favor by " squeezing " me in not apologizing for the fact that this happened again. The salon is great but they have lost so many qualified caring stylists and receptionists that I am now forced to look elsewhere. read more

LOUSY service! I showed up on time for my appt. today for eyebrow plucking, eyebrow tinting, and lip and chin wax, only to be told that the quiet back rooms where these services are usually performed were "double-booked" and I would have to have all my services done in a salon hair-washing chair with my neck resting on the rim of the cold hard sink! I And lots of noise and hair-dye odor all around. I booked my appt. well in advance, so I think "double-booking" just means they gave someone else my time and couldn't be bothered to tell me. They did not offer a discount of any kind and I can say that I have never been offered such poor service in a so-called upscale salon, or really any salon at all, any time before in my life. Shabby and poor and unprofessional, especially for the high prices they charge. I would certainly need to be offered some kind of discount or consideration before returning to this salon, and I have been a loyal customer there for many years. read more

This salon is just one of many in the Hampton Roads area. Nicely decorated but the advertised upscale quality of services just isn't there. When I arrived for my appointment, I was surprised, but in a negative way... Although, I had scheduled an appointment with a master hair stylist with 10 years of experience, I was told that my hair will be done by a hair stylist with 5 year experience. After some arguments the master stylist (who is also the owner of the salon) said she can "squeeze" me in. My deep conditioning treatment was performed not by the stylist I had an appointment with but by a trainee who did not have any knowledge of deep conditioning treatment. So, after that treatment my hair was no different than it was before the treatment. Either it was done inappropriately or the product had expired. Also, I did not get any scalp massage with this treatment and was offered tee or coffee while my head was still in the sink. Although, I had made my appointments in advance, I ended up having to do my manicure and pedicure with a hair stylist and make-up artist who apparently did not enjoy doing nails and is appointed to do nails only when no one else is available. The nail service area is very tiny at that salon so you will occasionally feel some one else's foot bath water splashing on you or some one else's clipped nail landing on you. Also, the nail technicians do not use any gloves during the services. Make your own conclusions... This salon is far from being upscale and up to date with their products and techniques. There were no natural or organic nail care, skin care or hair care products available. This salon offers outdated services with no individual approach to the needs of their clients. I do not recommend this salon to people who expect a better and more professional service than the average salon in a run down area. read more

We are touring and in sad need of haircuts. After checking the reviews we chose EBC. And we are glad we did. We were able to get in with short notice. But more importantly, I am very picky about my hair but, as I mentioned, we really needed cuts. Sabrina was very sensitive to my "pickyness" and picked up on every nuance in my description of what I like. BTW, one of the stylists is leaving and referring many of her clients to Sabrina...so she likely will have a tighter schedule. However, I suspect the quality of all stylists here is high. read more

I had an excellent experience at European Beauty Concepts. I was looking for a complete change, wishing to do something I had never done before. MARK WILKERSON sat down with me, and like a psychologist, he counseled me that sometimes people think they want a drastic change, but are unhappy with the results. He then explained that what I wanted might take more than one sitting (lightening my naturally dark brown hair to fluffy cloud white) and that the process might take longer than I expected. He talked me through the steps that were necessary then asked again if I was sure I wanted to proceed. When I assured him that I did, he went into action, a complete pro! After bringing me a glass of wine for refreshment, Mark mixed and applied and spent hours with me - yes, that is literally what I meant. HOURS! In fact, the salon, closed, but Mark stayed on, mixing potions and lotions and positing notions until he spun my hair into gold! The owner of the salon, Annette, stayed to keep the salon open while Mark ensured that not only did he get my hair as light as he could get it in a single sitting, but that the cut was perfect and my hair stayed soft and curly, despite all of the processing. I was treated like I was the only client in the world while Mark performed his feat of alchemy. I am now a platinum blonde, thanks to Mark Wilkerson. He is not merely a stylist, he is an artist with a heart! I highly recommend both Mark Wilkerson and European Beauty Concepts. read more
