I cannot give enough praise for this family run business! Jason and Heather go above and beyond to help! Recently, I purchased a 2013 Jetta TDI from a local dealership that does not specialize in European vehicles. The first warm day I discovered that the air conditioning did not work. I immediately went by and talked to Heather, she was extremely knowledgeable and said that they would be happy to work on it if the dealership would approve it. They gave me time and attention with my problem that I did not pay for. When I went back to the dealership they told me that I could get it fixed and they would pay for it instead of going to the local Volkswagen dealership I chose to take it to Jason at European Machine. It was discovered the compressor was out and he got the approval from the dealership (which he could have made me deal with) to order the part and get it fixed. I'd complain about the service I received, but I'm still waiting for them to call me back to reschedule an appointment. It's been 21 days. They cancelled the original one because they couldn't get a run of the mill battery. It's been 28 days since I initiated contact for a simple battery replacement. The lady I dealt with by email and phone had a 'couldn't be bothered' attitude. It took less time to make an appointment with their competition, drop it off, have the battery replaced and pick it up, than it took them to reply to an email. read more

I could always count on the fact that my cars would be able to run for miles after a thorough timing chain job was done. the absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced in 50 years!! so many issues I can't list them all. they fix what you take it in for and nothing proactive about what might need looked at. just spent $2,000 on granddaughters car again and she gets home and check engine light is on, with new battery. she takes it in and was told it sat for 3 months till you could afford to fix it so not our problem. I'm in Arizona so I called. she said "I've had long day and don't want to deal with this"!!! never going back!!!!!!! And after posting it says San Francisco!! The car resides in post falls. I live in Arizona, gma the payee! Bogus. I was told we fix what you bring car in for but nothing about issues that may arise or to watch out for. I'm going to dealership! They give you heads up of future things to watch out for. We have been through this several times!! I'm so disappointed!! Very good experiences here overall. Fair prices for the kinds of cars they work on, and they don't try to gouge you. It's the only place I trust with my car. They know their stuff and will tell you if something is going to be more expensive before they do it. I took my Audi to European Machine and I was very impressed. They were transparent with the pricing as to each issue that I had inquired (I asked about multiple symptoms) and called me ahead of time to discuss what the charges would be and why. It took a few days to diagnose and fix my vehicle, but I appreciate that they took the time to really try to understand the symptoms my car was exhibiting and to ensure each issue had been resolved. My only complaint is that the parking at EM is very scarce and it was difficult to know where to drop off my vehicle the night before my scheduled appt. read more

Last Fall I took my 2011 mini to be repaired for a spark plug issue. That work was done timely and satisfactory. However upon pick up the car was running louder than usual. I do not drive the car in the winter so upon getting it back on the road this spring I took it back to them when I realized the air intake was not connected. This explains the car running louder than normal. They agreed to remedy the issue however made every effort to make me feel like a liar!! They insisted the work they performed did not affect the air intake and to top it off, Upon pick up I was told everything on the car had been photographed so they couldn't be blamed in the future. When I asked if i could pick the car up the next day as I did not have anyone to help me get it, I was told they would not guarantee it would not get blocked in!! So no worry about being blamed for anything else, because they will not be working on my car in the future and I'll be sure to share my negative experience with every foreign car owner I know. Excellent customer service, honest pricing, trustworthy shop. I had my car towed here last week and the two other shops I called wanted $150-$200 for just the diagnosis. My tow truck driver recommended European Machine so I opted to try them out, assuming it'd be $150 but I was hot, frustrated and figured, "at least they're recommended." The shop was slammed and noted that they might not be able to take a look at it until early the following week which was fine with me. Imagine my shock when I received a call before the end of that day - that they figured out it was an issue covered by an extended warranty and while he of course wanted my business, he recommended having it taken to the BMW dealership in Spokane to take advantage of the extended warranty. And he only charged for actual time spent: $45!!!! I have never felt confident with auto service providers since it is so far out of my wheelhouse, but this is a top notch operation. If BMW rejects the warranty repair I will be having my car towed back to European Machine for the repair. They earned a lifetime customer in me!! read more

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND EUROPEAN MACHINE TO ANYONE. I told them my car was recalled by dealer in Portland for a gas pump problem. They said they could fix the car here so I wouldn't have to go all the way to Portland. So here we go, #1 They used a walnut blaster to take carbon of the valve head. That didn't work.$300. #2 New spark plugs. That didn't work, $125. Oh by the way you needed two quarts of oil. $22. Had to go back and have them take out two quarts of oil. No refund. Visit number two. I gave them another chance. Told them water was in the gas and would not start. They had my car for a month. Most of time if water is preventing a car to start, you look to bleed the gas on the top engine area. #1 They drained 10 gals out from the tank. Didn't work. $22. worth of gas. Did an oil change without asking. $85. Lastly, they drained the bad fuel from the fuel line going into the top of engine. $300. They should have done that to begin with. ONE MONTH WITHOUT MY CAR. PEOPLE ARE NICE THERE BUT THEIR ABILITY TO FIX YOUR CAR LACKS TRUST!!!! read more
