I looked at multiple mechanics that specialize in European cars to take my BMW after the dealer quoted me $600+ for rear brake pads. I called and was given an estimate over the phone. The process was quick and easy. Left my car in the morning and a couple hours later the car was ready. The estimate actually went slightly lower after they reviewed the car first hand which was nearly half of what the dealer was quoting me. The individual at the front desk was very informative, polite, and accommodating. They had every opportunity to charge me more after the initial estimate and they didn't. Our previous experience with European Performance has been great. Today's experience was not. Took our Mercedes in today to replace the thermostat. I picked up the car and drove a few blocks and it over heated. A warning came up on the dash. Understand-this warning (replace coolant" had not appeared anytime in the past. I drove it back to the shop and they put coolant in it. I parked the car in the garage and my husband noticed a pool of liquid under it. He pulled the car out of garage and the warning light "replace coolant" came back on. Needless to say, we are canceling tomorrow's plans to take the car back. read more

They have really came through and saved me a lot of money over the years. They are also willing to go the extra mile and give me extensive advice even though they knew I was using their advice for a warranty claim at the dealer. They can be hard to reach on the phone though so you may have to try a few times before getting ahold of someone. read more

I was very fortunate that found this place, I had very bad experience with Local Mercedes Dealer service in Bakersfield. I went several times due to the noice under the exhaust system it was an intermittent noice sometimes you can hear. They charged diagnostics fees but nothing found to fix it. However European performance service place within ten minutes fixed the issue and not even change for the service. These guys are great. I had a coil fail on me during a trip to LA from SF on Friday afternoon at 4 pm. I limped the car in to the shop and they had me out the door with a fixed car by 5 pm, so my trip was uninterrupted. They charge fair prices as well. On top of that, they're friendly and have a great shop. I wish I could bring my car here for all the maintenance, but it's a bit far from SF. He put freon did at test drive and did not even charge me any thing because it did not take him long to do that . You take ur car to local dealer and they charge you am arm and a leg . Although I am not an ASE certified mechanic, I have been working on cars for 30 years, including my own race vehicles and off-road buggies. My son's 2003 530i started running bad and blowing white smoke out the tailpipe. Thinking that it might be a head gasket, I did a leak-down test and a block test and confirmed that the head gasket was fine. After extensive research on the internet, I found that it was most probably the CCV system (extremely common with the E39 BMWs, probably the most common failure). I was busy working away from home and my son needed his car ASAP, so I decided to get a quote from a local mechanic that could do the work fast. I called European Performance Automotive due to their positive reviews on YELP. They quoted me $360 for parts and labor to change out the CCV system, and that seemed pretty damn fair to me. My Girlfriend dropped the car off and they called her the next day claiming that the CCV system is fine and that the head gasket was blown. They quoted $3,700 to do the job!!!!!! Then went on to state that the block might also be cracked!!!!! I told her to get the car and not to pay these crooks a dime, and I will work on it myself when I get home. After confirming again that the head gasket was fine, I ordered a new genuine BMW CCV kit from Bavarian Autosports with a throttle body gasket for under $200 shipped. It took me 4 hours with 3 common tools and watching a youtube video to do the job. The car is running like new now with no smoke coming out of the exhaust. The CCV valve was clogged and the bottom hose also - the CCV system needed to be replaced!!!! I saved $3,500 by avoiding this place. I don't know if this was just 1 employee who doesn't know what is going on, or if they just take advantage of women for profit like most mechanics do. read more

When my mechanic told me that Mark donated the parts I couldn't stop crying. I cried all weekend just thinking how kind that was. Two years ago my job of ten years closed its doors. Awesome and HONEST service! Brought in my BMW 328i. This is my first BMW so I wanted experienced service. I made an appointment for an oil change. When they checked it they were honest and said it wasn't due for an oil change for another 6K miles but needed the break fluid serviced. I also had a light out somewhere and after lots and lots of searching they finally found it and replaced that too. You know why they are honest? What was going to be a $150 service ended up only being $70. They totally could have done an unnecessary service but didn't. They also let me know that my break pads were low but I still had another 5K-10K miles left on them. Again, totally could have tried to get me to replace them now and make money off me. But they didn't. They could have tried to take advantage of a female (not knowing I know plenty about cars), but they didn't. HONESTY guarantees referrals, repeat customers and LOYALTY! Mark at European Performance Automotive quoted me at less than half of what the dealer was asking for and with O.E.M. parts. Reasons why I gave this place 5 stars: 1. Great customer service. Mark inspected my car free of charge. He showed me the worn out parts and explained to me in detail what the part does to the car. I met Mark when he was with another shop. For the entire time I have known him he has been honest and fair with me. He is as knowledgeable as they come when it comes to BMW's. For example, the VANOS on my E36 M3 was replaced at another shop and then about 10,000 miles later we were looking at another replacement. Mark suggested that I obtain a gasket kit rather than the entire VANOS unit which saved me almost $800. I won't take my vehicles anywhere else in Bakersfield. read more

I have been taking my 2011 BMW 135i to European Performance Automotive for service since purchasing the car earlier this year and have been very pleased with all of their work. I periodically use the car for Track Day Events (which can often result in unexpected mechanical issues...to put it mildly!!). In early March I had "one of those days" with the car that ultimately required a complete engine replacement!! While I was dealing with my shock Mark and his outstanding team of professionals took over and did everything required to bring my car back to life in a reasonable amount of time. I take my Mercedes C250 to get serviced here. The prices are reasonable and the service is great. The first time I needed to get my car serviced I took it to the dealership and they quoted me in the 200's. I quickly drove away Haha. I yelped some places and came across this one so I called and he quoted me in the low 100's, he was also able to squeeze me in later in the week. He needed up charging me less than what he had quoted me. It does get pretty busy so be sure to try and set up an appointment and sometimes it's hard to get a hold of them but that's because the owner doesn't just run the business, he also works on the cars himself. So don't be discouraged and keep calling it's definitely worth it. read more

I recently purchased a BMW and needed some repairs. I usually try to repair my own cars and thought I was in over my head was trying to repair a steering wobble I was sure I needed a new rack and pinion unit so I took it in to Mark at European Performance Automotive for repair. Beyond my expectations for great service. I just moved into the area and my repair records were still packed in a box. My major service indicator was on, and I brought in my E500 station wagon a couple months ago. I was pretty sure I was a do for major service and all of the fluid changes. They were pleasantly below the dealer quote for service. When I picked up my car my bill was about a third of what they had estimated! He said all of my plugs and filters look brand new, I must have spaced that I had recently had my major service done. I can't recommend them highly enough. read more
