"Assistant manager" at the front desk over charged me twice & then tried to charge me a third time. She clearly did not know what she was doing and LIED about what I was being charged. I asked for another manager to help and she caught an attitude. After taking almost $200 in charges out of my account she tried to charge me a THIRD TIME. Told me to make it up she was giving me a managers discount & my only charge was going to be the tip I was leaving for my waxer. She ended up only refunding me what I SHOULD HAVE payed and took $73 from my account. Insane. read more

Where is management at this location? At a recent appointment, they left the door to the back open. I listened to a conversation between 2 waxers absolutely trashing customers. Cursing, using foul language, making fun of guests. With guests in the waiting room. I was blown away. More so that the person at the front desk made no move to do anything. Had a terrible experience with the front desk here (not with the waxer). I was incorrectly overcharged, which, to note was not disclosed in the first place but I had no angst with paying. At the desk, instead of being charged for the upgraded service, I was charged for 2 separate invoices as an "add-on", when I questioned this I was told it was because I didn't have a wax pass, this did not sound right to me but I paid anyhow. While shopping next door at Acme, I checked the website - I was correct, I should have only paid for the upgraded service. I went back into the center and spoke to the cashier, who was unfriendly and sighed loudly about requesting my receipts and asking for additional clarification, showing her the cost on the website. Again told, need a wax pass. Incorrect. When I received the survey email, I responded with this information. A manager reached out, did not extend my refund but did offer a one-time-discount at Broomall. I have zero intent to return to this center, as I no longer trust them and was clearly brushed off by the cashier. I responded 2 weeks ago simply requesting my refund and still have no response. I will not be returning to this center, which I've been frequenting for many years, and would not recommend them to friends. My lesson: Pay with caution, and pay attention to your charges. Be sure that you check with the front desk before your appointment that you have the correct waxer. For the last year, I have gone to the same waxer and when I came in for my appointment she was double booked and you have to wait at least ten mins for her to come out. They charge you if you are late but they are always running behind.The front desk of this location needs to stop bumping people from a confirmed appointments and be consistent. And I. I live on City Line Ave(It's a distance but & I love my wax girl she is honestly the only reason why I continue to come here. BUT I HAVE HAD IT!!!!! I will no longer be coming here once I use up all my passes. Some of the new hires at the front desk are stupid- I called to reschedule my wax appointment. I give the girl my name, date & time that will work best for me & she tells me my waxer is booked so I ask her "when will my waxer be available?" She says " I will have to look up your info for that" I said "ok (sarcastically, like how could she have known my waxer is booked if you never even was on my file)... Another incident- After getting waxed I schedule my next 2/3 appointments in advance because they fill up pretty fast & considering my work schedule it's best for me. 2 weeks before my appointment I get a call letting me know my waxer will not be able to wax me because the front desk overbooked her, I try to reschedule but my waxer was booked! So the front desk girl said she'll call if anything frees up GREEEEAT! The week I'm supposed to get waxed I CALL! can you believe they had an open space. I STILL CONTINUED TO COME BACK TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT!! I just had my first wax experience at EWC today and I was very very pleased with the experience! My specialist was Tiffany and I will definitely be coming back to see her. She made me feel comfortable, explained everything and was very efficient throughout the whole process. I wanted to switch my eyebrow lady because she has been slacking lately and not providing me with the same clean-up and redefinition she has done in the past. Keep in mind, I have had the same eyebrow lady for the past 10 years! I was very skeptical of someone new to work with my eyebrows. I hate writing reviews for chain businesses but I did want to write a review for my girl Valorie. I just moved up to the Philadelphia area when Valorie started working at EWC. Honestly, its like a very serious relationship after you find a waxer who knows what you like and how you like it (I'm just saying). The stars aligned and I was lucky to have her as my first waxer at this location and haven't looked back. Valorie is VERY meticulous in the work she does and is very easy to talk to which makes the time go by very quick. She does my usual services (full legs and Brazilian) in less than an hour. Only reason I didn't give this location 5 stars is because comparing it to my old location (Pikesville MD) the reception staff seems a lot less experienced and very pushy when trying to sell products. I've been a client at EWC for a long time and I know how all the promotions work... Anyways, if you're new to EWC or are looking for a new waxer I highly recommend Valorie! I really wanted to love this place. It is close by, it's modern and clean looking, and the prices are competitive. BUT I am not happy with the Brazilian I got. There is a good amount of hair left over. The technician told me it was because of the fancy type of wax they use but I've had the orang wax with the strips and the green wax before too. Most horrible and disappointing waxing experience I have ever had!!!! I went there for a full leg waxing -- I had waited the full 4 weeks that are typically suggested between waxing sessions, so my hair was long enough and should have come out easily. However, the hard wax technique that this center is using doesn't work at all for finer leg hair and the waxing practitioner didn't seem very competent. She applied the wax two, sometimes three times, on the same spots, which was very painful but led to minimal results. I could see patches of hair still on my legs when I was finally told, I was good to go. I complained right away at the front desk, and their response was that I could come for a free touch-up session. I told them that I expect a good result right away for that price, so they eventually gave me $5 off. I left extremely frustrated, and cannot recommend this place! read more

European Wax Center does not honor its own policies. Took my teen daughter there and they turned us away for her age. Very different statement they have posted on their website which states: Their FAQS Page says in Question #3 "We'll Wax a guest of any age if our specialists feel they are prepared for the experience." We never saw the specialists. We were turned away right away, once I said she was a teen. It didn't matter what the website states, nor what the receptionist said when I booked it and said it was for my daughter. She just said I would have to stay in the room with her. Went to the Broomall location yesterday. Im so glad I chose European Wax Center for my first ever brazillian wax. I was absolutely terrified because of people's feedbacks. I had Mikaela because she was highly requested from the reviews, and Im so glad i did. She was very informative, quick, and definitely made me feel comfortable about exposing my hoo-ha to a stranger (LOL). Of course my first hurts like a Mother F. But Mikaela definitely made it as quick as possible. Also purchased their ingrown hair serum, which I believe is also a great product from their line. Everyone is super nice and professional. My eyebrow wax was just ok.. not as shapely as I like. I did ask for a little more hair to be taken off after I was finished. Also, $18 is extremely pricey for a basic wax that doesn't include trimming or even brushing my eyebrows. Just too much for such a basic wax. Finally!! I have been searching for years to find a good wax place after moving to PA from MD. This place is 100% professional - good customer service, convenient hours, clean facilities (I am very picky), and many waxers to chose from. I tried a few ladies before finding someone who was perfect for my preferences. All 3 of the waxers that I tried were far FAR better then the experiences I've had at ~10 other businesses over the years. Their business model is based totally on the "pre-buy" and their package pricing is very appealing. I held off buying the packages at first, but I have been totally satisfied and I know that I will use all of my visits. I used a student discount to buy my first package, but there are many other promotions that can make the packages even more affordable. read more

I pre-purchased two different wax passes with EWC. The last time I went for my Brazilian wax i realized when I got home they left wax on a patch of hair. It was painful to remove. I called EWC spoke with a manager who said basically it happens. She said I could come back in for them to remove it, but I did not have the time to go back. I removed it myself. Painful to say the least. No other resolution was offered. I requested a refund of my prepaid wax packages because I no longer trusted them with such delicate areas. I was told I would not be refunded. I wrote their corporate office requesting a refund of my remaining prepaid wax services. No one from the corporate office responded. Instead I received a call back from the same manager who offered no resolve once again. I'd expect better service from both the technicians and the manager.
