New just the right amount to trim off. My regular girl left during the pandemic, but I would highly recommend seeing Syd. I called few hours before my appointment asking to reschedule for a later time in the day or to reschedule for the following day. I couldn't make it at my scheduled time because something came up. The receptionist Shaylee was being rude and snobbish about it and advised me she will be charging me a 50% cancellation fee. In which I thought was very inconsiderate. Just last month the ladies called me to reschedule my appointment not once but 3xs at their convenience but, yet want to charge me. It's not so much of what she said it but how she said it. Charging a fee for a flat out cancellation could be understood, but charging a fee to reschedule is beyond ridiculous. As things come up and happen in life. I will not be going to EWC anymore. Sat in my car for thirty mins , checked in on time , said they would text me when I should come in . 25 minutes later I left , I texted them to tell them I couldn't wait anymore , they text me at 30 minutes late mark , to let me know they were ready for me , it replied I have let , they called looking for me at the 35 minutes late mark , I explained I had left and couldn't put the rest of my day of schedule behind because of their lack of organization . I previously went here and got waxed by Caitlin and it turned out great(see previous review). I went in Monday and got waxed by Gina and it was extremely painful. I figured since I'm pregnant it was just more sensitive. I can't see down there and finally two days of it still being painful I asked my husband to look for me and he said that it looked like I had cuts/burns all over one of the sides. I leave for the Dominican tomorrow and have to go with these cuts/burns below which sucks. I wish I never would have went. **I did reach out with the team there to let them know and they apologized for my experience, refunded it and told me they would go through training with a focus on temperature checks with that employee. read more

I was very impressed with the lengths to which EWC went to ensure that I and their employees were shielded from Covid. That's a huge concern when dealing with cosmetic services. I have been a customer for some time at various locations. Went into the Geneva Illinois location for a Brazilian service. Later discovered there were 4 different areas on the skin that had hair on it which was completely noticeable. The technician Jessica should definitely not be waxing. She has no idea what she's doing or she was just lazy . I called and spoke with the supervisor and she did not empathize with my experience. She asked me to come back in and when I told her my work schedule was full for the next two weeks. She offered me a $10 point credit. What a joke. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. read more

First -the services I have received at the Geneva location have always been great. The issue is that over the last few months, they have canceled at least 4 appointments several hours before my appointed time due to an "emergency". While I understand that things happen, more that once or twice is unacceptable. Since I book my next service when leaving the salon, it is difficult to have to rearrange my schedule to rebook. In the last 6 months I've had my appointment canceled 4-5 times. It's so frustrating, especially around the holidays when free time is precious. I make my appointments well in advance to make sure I have the free time/childcare to get to the appointment. They do decent work and the staff is usually friendly, but the cancelations with just a text is RIDICULOUS. At least call me and try to make it right. I had stayed away from this location due to several very negative reviews, but could no longer keep up a drive to go to other EWC locations. I have been going here for just over a year now and have always had very good experiences! My work schedule varies, I have found that scheduling is easy and they are flexible and accommodating when I need to move an appointment. I have seen several different wax consultants (Belinda, Luz, Chrystal) and they are all professional. While they do 'push product', I have never found any of them to be rude about it (it is their job, I am sure they get in trouble if they don't talk about the products.). I PREFER the Geneva location for EWC! The environment is calm and not intimidating. I have been to another EWC and it felt cold and disinviting. I have been to the Geneva location multiple times and Maybel is now my "go-to girl" for my Brazilian waxing needs. She always does a thorough job and makes sure that I am as comfortable as possible. It doesn't hurt that she has a kind disposition and a sense of humor. I would recommend the Geneva location, specifically. If you can get an appointment with Maybel, go for it! My first experience will also be my last. I normally always go to another waxing place, but my regular girl was due to be out for a while and no one else at that place was open for a few weeks. I was forced to try somewhere new. When I called to make an appointment I was on hold for about 25 mins (literally) before even speaking to someone. It was a pre-recording that just talked about their services over and over. Once I was finally able to speak with someone, I asked for their earliest appointment. Same day was available, lucky me! (Or so I thought). I arrived a bit early. The young girl at the desk seemed to be a receptionist. Odd that they have someone who is solely responsible for answering phones and scheduling, but I waited 25 mins to even have my call answered. She took down my information and told me that my first service was free. Nice! Well as I was sitting waiting for my wax consultant to come out, I couldn't help but notice how DIRTY and DISGUSTING the place was. There was random garbage lying on the floor, the product shelves looked like they had never been dusted, and the glass doors had smears all over them. I later found that the esthetic of the salon matched that of the females working there. They both seemed so trashy and lazy. No wonder the lobby was so dirty. These girls probably just sit around on their phones all day instead of actually working and having pride in their place of employment. In regards to my wax consultant, she seemed to talk a lot more than she listened. I told her exactly how I like my brows; natural and thicker. I just like the strays to be cleaned up but I don't like them thin and too "shaped" looking. I also informed her that my right brow is naturally a tad lower than my left, and therefore you have to wax accordingly to take a little more off of the top of the left one to help them match better. Well she did not pay attention to what I said because I left with brows that we're two totally different heights on my stupid forehead. Embarrassing. In addition to that, she would not stop talking about their products. So much so, that she literally forced me to smell 3 lotions by shoving it in my nose while I was laying there with the wax was drying on my face. I finally said I'd buy some stupid skincare kit just to get her to stop talking about something I never asked for or showed interest in. I tried the products a few days later and they were no good so I wound up throwing them away. read more

I was admitted for my appointment on time. My wax consultant was Chrystal and she was amazing. She made me super comfortable and was very efficient and fast. I would strongly recommend her and this place to anyone. I will definitely return. Also just a note for the other reviewers who have never had a wax and are complaining about it hurting-duh. Waxing hurts, especially in your nether regions. No wax specialist or person can help you avoid that completely. It's like going to the gym and complaining about being too sore after you leave. I mean..... if I had to rate this based off of how painful a Brazilian wax is, I would give it a 0 too. No duh it's going to hurt. No duh sometimes all the hair won't be removed. It's really just based on the coarseness of your hair, and the sensitivity of your skin. I must have one tough vagina because I didn't experience any redness, or sensitivity. There were some ingrown hairs, but hey it's normal. of course it hurt. But I mean... you did sign up for it. The more you cry, wiggle around and annoy the waxer, the more unpleasant the experience. Then again, I am more tolerant to pain, and can't really speak for others. I might laugh a little at the extremity of the poor reviews this place has, but hey, I won't judge. Maybe you were just raised to complain about every little thing. Also, lol, don't worry. They aren't "watching" you undress for pleasure, trust me. they just want you to get in, and get out. It's uncomfortable enough as it is, they don't need to wait around for you to take 5 minutes to take your pants off. It is not a spa. And you are not paying 100+ dollars to get the specialty treatment. Comments about how "dirty" the place is.... well at least for me, it was clean. Then again I went in the morning. As long as the lady who is doing your waxes is being sanitary, just shut up and deal with a dusty shelf, or a bit of garbage on the floor. It's not like you are living there. I get the feeling people don't really know how hard it is to keep a facility clean when a lot of different, careless people are passing through. Not too hot on the upselling either, but hey, freedom of speech, just tell them you aren't interested in purchasing product. Don't worry, they won't cry. Natalie is AMAZING (and I hate putting this out there because now she will be even harder to get in to see!!!!) When I ask for her to just "clean up" my eyebrows without making them too thin SHE ACTUALLY LISTENS!!!!! I have had other waxers there that I have not been happy with (One is now gone and had another negative review on here so all is well that ends well) and another left big glops of wax on after my brazilian but Natalie has been tried and true and AWESOME each time. She convinced me to try armpit and I am SOOOO happy I did! I have even branched out to legs too! She is professional and real. She is not pushy about product but does make earnest suggestions. She is not too peppy (awkward when dealing with nether-parts) but is professional through and through. LOVE HER. AND....the price is right! read more
