I've been going to this location for 3 years now. Specifically, I've been seeing Kamira for 3 years and she's the BEST- quick, clean with the wax, efficient, and so much fun to get to know. This location is very consistent, and I've found that every time I need a body wax and Kamira isn't available, I've always had good waxer who knows what they're doing and is nice to chat with. The ladies at the front desk are super nice and helpful too. Granted, I don't wax anything on my face anymore due to tretinoin usage- if you are going to wax your face, I suggest finding a waxer you like to do body first and then do face the next time. Your waxer gets to know you and what you like, hence why Kamira was always amazing pre-tret usage and knew that I only like a cleanup of my brows. read more

This review is for the lip wax service. Was able to get an appointment in last minute, right before the holidays. I haven't waxed my lip in the last 6-8 months, but wanted to clean up those little hairs before the holidays and seeing family and friends. The lady that did my wax was sweet, but she waxed the same side of my lip 3-4 times before moving on to the other side. I don't recall this being normal practice, usually it's just once on the left, once on the right, and one down the Cupid's bow. Maybe a little cleanup elsewhere if needed. My experience here was a good 10 rounds total, and while I appreciate the diligence, I got the worst reaction ever from all the irritation! 2 days later I broke out in small painful white heads all over my upper lip. I now look like a fool, and right in time for the holidays. Honestly so upsetting, esp given that this has never happened before. Needless to say, I won't be returning. read more

I had a Brazilian wax here with Mia, and she's probably my favorite of all the aestheticians I've had from a European Wax Center location. I usually go to the onr in Cleveland Park, and those experiences have been all right, but Mia stood out for completing the procedure relatively quickly (15ish minutes) and most importantly, NOT trying to engage in awkward small talk. I know that I'm in the minority in having this opinion, but when I go to a salon for any kind of beauty or grooming procedure, I prefer that the aesthetician just focus on what they're doing and not on trying to "improve" the experience by being unnecessarily friendly. It's bad enough when I'm getting my hair cut, but why would I want to have a fun conversation with someone while they're ripping the hair off my lady bits??? I have continued going back (because I bought 12 waxes), and have tried a new wax specialist each time. Some of the other specialists have been fine, but Maggie is by far the best wax specialist at the Cleveland Park location. I promise, you will have the best wax experience of your life if you see Maggie. She is extremely knowledgeable, quick and painless about the hair removal, and she recommended me an exfoliating scrub that has completely changed my post wax recovery. It's all about who you see! I had my first wax experience yesterday at this location. The check in process was simple, QR code or text and wait for a message to proceed with entry. All of the staff was super friendly and welcoming. Everyone had on masks and was following COVID precautions. Now here is the 5 star customer service! Ra'jah!! She was my wax specialist. I shared with her that it was my first time and I was really nervous. She was awesome! She talked to me to calm my nerves and explained everything as it was happening! There was plenty of laughs and I made it through!! Lol I even booked my next appointment because she was awesome. I've been here dozens of times and never particularly enjoy the experience, but today was the final straw. I have passes remaining, but will not be returning. I had an appointment with Chantele for my usual bikini full, but have always kept my landing strip and all other technicians have noticed this and made sure to ask before removing anything additional, but halfway through my service I noticed everything was removed. Chantele also, for reasons unknown to me, left the room halfway through the service, opening the door while I was unclothed from the waste down with legs butterflied on the table. I've NEVER been more uncomfortable during a service. She also tried to repeatedly blame me for the pain I was experiencing saying that pulling was a lot tougher if I shave between services. I've gotten hundreds of waxes in my life and nothing should be as painful as this was. She was pulling huge pieces of wax that should have been done more piecemeal. Finally, when I mentioned the wax was a little too warm and was burning, she continued on saying that the skin there is just more sensitive to temperature... she also continued on with too hot of wax repeating sections she had already been over. I've never felt so uncomfortable during a service and basically ran out of there. Would NOT recommend to anyone you consider a friend, but if you're trying to cruelly punish someone... send them to Chantele. read more

Leaving for the beach today, take time off work and drive across town, standing outside 10 minutes early just to get a text 3 minutes before my scheduled appointment time saying "Hello Gorgeous! Unfortunately, due to an unforeseen emergency, the center will not be opening on time and we will need to reschedule your reservation. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but once we are able to access our phones we will reach out to reschedule your reservation. Thank you" -- no offer to reschedule same day. No answer on their phones when you call. No available appointments for 2 weeks. This might be ok for a small boutique but for a National company? Unreal. Don't waste your time. read more

Against my better judgement I decided to listen to one friend who swears by this place for Brazilians -- and I'll never go back. The front desk staff were great. Really nice and super professional. Past the front desk? Definitely subpar. Long story short, the waxer was kind. The quality of my wax was just awful. She didn't leave the room after prompting me to undress. Finished in seven minutes (which she boasted about). There was no plucking or removing strays. Nor was I offered a mirror for me to see the result. I'm a seasoned professional at getting Brazilians and was hoping to find a more confidently located place. Never have I experienced something like that. And to add to the experience, I left with batches of hair that were never removed. This was also the first time I have EVER had ingrown hairs afterward -- I've never had a single one, and after leaving here I had multiple. It's now been over a month and I still have one on my bikini line that appears bruised and refuses to go away regardless of the treatments I have tried. I highly suggest finding a different salon and saving your girly parts the grief. read more

I'm not normally one to leave a bad review, but the DC- DuPont location has left me with a very bad taste in my mouth. I had a 10 am appointment on a cold and rainy Sunday winter morning. In trying to be prompt, I arrived a few minutes early and was told I HAD TO WAIT OUTSIDE IN THE COLD AND RAIN because their policy wasn't to open the doors until 10. For one, if that's the policy, the first appointment shouldn't be until 10:15 am, as it's customary to arrive early for beauty appointments so the appointment can begin at the scheduled time, particularly at a place with a very strict timeliness policy. For two, the message was communicated sternly and with no compassion for the fact that it was really uncomfortable to be standing outside, especially right before I would need to strip down for a waxing. To be clear, the service and technician was excellent, but that reception was awful! read more

The first wax for free pulled me in and the amount of hair I had left drove me away. So this was my very first wax, so I was very nervous and I was definitely getting this done last minute. They are also one of the only places that is open on a Sunday. But there are tons of European wax center's its a chain so I thought that this would be safe and they would do a great job? I was sorely mistaken. So I booked online and they contacted me to verify my appointment and go over the rules. Very professional. The trouble started when I got there. I checked in gave them my ID and was shown back to the room relatively quickly with less than 5 minutes. The attending esthetician was cordial and went over the procedure. I will admit that because it was my first time I was distracted by the pain (Brazilian wax). It hurt SO bad for me, I know that it is different for others but I found out that day that waxing is not for me. I kept jumping because of the pain and apologizing (which she understood). So when she said that I was all done I didn't even check and started to put my clothes on. It wasn't until when I got home and undressed that I noticed I still had a lot of hair left. THE PAIN WAS DEFINITELY NOT WORTH IT! I ended up shaving the hairs that she didn't catch and being really disappointed that I wouldn't look spectacular for my weekend on the beach. read more

Today was absolutely the worst wax experience ever! I am not sure if the female was new or if it was that difficult performing a Brazilian for her. She went over the same areas a couple times and that's a definite no no. That made it very uncomfortable to even lay the wax because it was already sensitive and tender. The wax stripe got stuck 3 times, as if she wasn't pulling quickly or hard enough. I was even asked to assist with holding my skin while she pulled the strip. I would never go to the Connecticut Avenue location again! I decided to go last minute today and that was the only location with open availability and now I see why. Customer service at the front desk was awesome! In attempt to sell the products, the tech made mention of something I shared with her in private in front of two guest. That was inappropriate in my opinion. If today was the first wax I would never return. read more

The same day I submitted my review discussing a need for improvement in customer service and my bad experience, I got a call from the owner of the center apologizing and offering solutions. This meant SO much to me that the owner would not just comment on my review but take time out of their day to call and discuss the issue. I spoke with receptionist over the phone this week and had a much better experience. Thank you. My only suggestion at this moment is to reconsider how you ask clients about their medication history. After speaking with Lana, I understood EWC just needs to know updated topical cream medication for health and legal reasons. However, I do not think asking for general "medical history" in the waiting area in front other guests is a considerate at all. Maybe the script for asking about medication can change or ask clients about their medication during their appointment reminder calls? But asking a client who may have sensitive medical attention about what general presciptions they are taking in front of strangers is not the best approach. Just a suggestion. Aside from that, I'm enjoying my services at EWC and will continue to be a client as I have been for four years. read more

I've been here probably about a dozen times and my last time was the final straw. This place is SO PUSHY when it comes to selling products, booking ahead, and buying wax passes - it literally drives me insane! The waxing is okay (I've had better), but they really push to fill in your eyebrows with pencil in order to sell the products. I actually don't like filled in eyebrows and they never listen to me saying no - on several occasions they've filled in my brows even though I said no. Once you exit the waxing room, your specialist will immediately pull the products she used on you and add them to your total (without even asking if you want them). After you awkwardly have to say you don't want the products, then they try and convince you to "pre-book" your next appointment to save a dollar -- A DOLLAR! And that your specialist is booked out for "6 weeks." Come on guys, this is eyebrow waxing -- are you really booked out for 6 weeks? Pretty sure I can make an appointment whenever I want the week of. This place REALLY needs to chill on the selling - it's ruining their reputation and I won't go back here because of it. I feel like I'm at a used car lot when I go here.... Let me first start off by saying that I have been here once before & received excellent service and care from Lana. She was patient and the wax was not as painful as expected. However, Today I went and my technician name was Kimi and she was THE WORST ! 1. Towards my Labia I told her that the wax felt extremely hotter than the previous strips she applied and she told me that was due to me having sensitive skin but when she took the wax off I begin to bleed in that area only. 2. She got wax strings ALL over my thigh area and did not even attempt to wipe it off until I asked her to give me something to wipe it off with . 3. She left a HUGE glob of hard wax on the bottom of my vagina lips and tried to leave out with it still there. I was pretty upset at this point. 4. We didn't complete my Brazilian wax because she said my discolored skin made her uncomfortable and she didn't know if it was safe or not after I assured her it was. I was very unhappy with this wax ! Also, the pattern she uses really helps diminish pain and make sure you're in and out quickly. Great experience. Shocked that the average rating isn't higher, I had a great experience at EWC. Shout out to Sara for doing a great job on my eyebrows!! I am very particular about my eyebrows and she was patient, made tweaks throughout based on my comments, and I came out with the best wax I've had in years. They use fabric strips (versus paper) and it made a huge difference for my redness after. Also the shop in general was super clean, streamlined, and relaxing. I've had a bad experience every time I've come here. Last time they didn't wax under the eyebrow at all, nor did they tweeze. I had to ask if it could be corrected. I decided to try it one more time because their prices aren't too bad if I were to buy a package. This time I went and was told when I got there that my wax specialist had had an emergency. They said they tried to reach out but they never did. I didn't receive a text call or email! I was exactly five minutes late and had tried to call and tell them I'd be late prior but they hadn't picked up the phone. To rant to me about being 5 minutes late when they had cancelled my appointment, hadn't told me, and made me show up...I'm considering this a blessing and never going back read more

Love getting waxed here. The only wax that is gentle on my skin and doesn't give me a reaction. This was my first time at this location and the person working with me was amazingly nice and chatted with me the entire time, putting me at ease. Loved my experience here. I waited to review til I had been twice. I saw Mayra A for my first and second brazilian and added an eyebrow for my second visit. Love the wax they use and Mayra is great, talked me through the whole process and made me feel very comfortable. Waxing hurts no matter what but she definitely made it an easier process than it could've been. They do push products and the wax pass at the front but not too aggressively. They just ask if you would like to add anything and aren't rude about it at all, it is very similar to a hair salon where they recommend the products they use on you/would use in the future. SAVE YOURSELF AND DO NOT GO HERE. I decided to try EWC since I wax monthly and was looking for a new place. Biggest mistake ever. I literally may need to see a medical professional because I have bruising showing up after my horrible wax. I went in for a bikini and she glopped on the wax on the side and pulled off a huge piece instead of doing it section by section. Next she went for the middle portion and basically had wax between my intimate parts before I could tell her that was too far in. This was not a Brazilian. I was going to chalk it up to a bad wax after nearly crying in pain until I got home and saw the bruising and the completely uneven wax. I called and just asked for a refund and they said the only way I could have one was to go back in and "be examined" by their training person. Are you kidding me?! I will never go back again and am disputing the charge on my card. Absolutely horrific experience. I'm literally scarred. read more

I went in for a Brazilian after an entire year, and this is also a new location for because I'm used to the location in Virginia. Nonetheless, it was so painful I wondered why I was torturing myself like this again. But the results are always worth it. I loved Brittany, she was a sweetie pie, but she left a few hairs behind and it wasn't as thorough as I would've liked, there was still some left in the back and a few strands in the front. There was also some bleeding after but nothing too serious, it cleared up the next day pretty well and I can't even feel it. Overall, this is a wonderful location, I'll probably choose a different waxer, but enjoyed my experience regardless. UPDATE after three days: I have stubbles, and if I wanted stubbles, I would've shaved myself. I have had so many better waxes at EWC, and I'm annoyed to have paid for quality and didn't get what I came for. My waxes usually last me a month, but at this rate, I'll be back in two weeks. read more

My first appointment was in July and I booked online in advance with Krystal by recommendation from a friend. When I came in they told me I would not be with Krystal with really no explanation. I showed them my booking confirmation but they told me Krystal ha "run out of wax" (?????) and that if I didn't want to go with someone else it would have to be in 2 weeks. I decided to stay since I was already there but it would have been nice to have been notified ahead of time the appointment I scheduled wouldn't be happening. The wax I got was good which I was I've given two stars but the unprofessionalism here is baffling like how can you just not honor an appointment and think it's going to be ok? No one apologized to me for THEIR mix up I scheduled my next appointment for 8/23 and never received a confirmation email or call and I called at 9 am on 8/23 when they opened to check when my appointment was and was told it was at 9 am... I asked why they never emailed or called with confirmation and the receptionist said my voicemail was full which is a blatant lie. Obviously I wanted to be there to get my wax but I unfortunately don't think I can return to this poorly run establishment. I have never received such unprofessional front desk service. Update: The manager contacted me because of my review here and did her best to clarify the issue and offered me a discounted service for my next visit. I appreciated the gesture and everything for my next visit went seamlessly, even when I had to reschedule the appointment twice. I had an appointment yesterday at 12:45p and I was running a little later. The young woman at the front desk kindly moved my appointment to 1pm. As soon as I got there they took me to the back. This place is so professional, my "waxer" Mimi was so sweet! She walked me through each step and was so personable. She explained how to manage and maintenance techniques. I was so impressed. Also, they have so many discounts/coupons. First timers get half off or a wax for free. If you keep your receipt from the first appointment, you get a discount off your next apt. I'll start with the positive - I had various areas of my body waxed and it was painless and quick and the redness subsided quickly. I am pleased with those results. Now, the negative. Because it was my first time with EWC , I figured I'd take advantage of the free eyebrow wax and get things "cleaned up." Well, the technician did more than "clean up" my eyebrows - she completely reshaped them and left a HUGE space between my eyebrows. My eyebrows are unrecognizable from before (they were full and had a great shape) and I am so embarrassed now. I have no idea what prompted her to do this without talking with me, especially after I stated I just wanted the stray hairs waxed off. It's probably going to take months for them to grow back. Also, after the technician was finished with my "below-the-belt" waxing she did not allow me time to put my leggings back on before continuing to wax the "above-the-neck" areas. Now, part of this is on me because I could have spoken up and been more assertive. But, I felt very uncomfortable, rushed, and exposed. The technician also made several comments about how she had "never waxed this area before..." I am not sure if I will return - while I am pleased with the body waxing results, I would have appreciated more professionalism from the technician. I think this center is fairly new- it opened in Dupont Circle in February. So far, so good! Have been here a couple of times for waxes- I had Beatriz and Marshe- and both were wonderful, kind, detailed and efficient! I would recommend booking a wax with either of them! Clean, friendly, efficient services, and it's really really centrally located. I used to trek out all the way to the one in Clarendon, so I am glad this one is much closer! Don't go to this place. While Krystal is amazing the reception staff is awful. They tell you you have a ten minute grace period (you know how bad D.C. traffic is), but if you show up, they then change their tune and say it's only a 9 minute grace period-- and their clocks are faster than your iPhone clock. Then, they are super unhelpful in trying to reschedule. Don't want to go back but I got one of those waxing packages that they literally shove down your throat. Every. Single. Time. You. Go. Krystal's great, but a shame she works at a place with awful staff and terrible customer service. read more
