Zero stars, ideally. Tried it twice, and won't return. To unsuspecting customers, the prices here don't seem that bad. Their pricing structure and internal manipulation has left me both times with intense dissatisfaction. The staff will mislead you into waxing more areas than you signed up for. The whole waxing process itself is vicious and fast, and very undignified. My wax itself was both times, not good. I can't believe I returned again after going once. There were several missed patches in both my experiences. These missed patches were in areas that I specifically especially needed waxing as shaving would irritate the area. I had to go back myself afterwards and pluck out the remaining hairs. A professional spa will be very thorough and ensure they perform a quality wax. European wax center has not displayed the same thorough behavior. Additionally, both times I had residual wax left on my skin, leaving me waddling around until I got home because there was still wax in unwanted places. Again, to reiterate, every spa I have been to has been far more attentive to detail. The whole attempted package selling at the register is uncomfortable, tacky, and delivered unprofessionally. I have experienced far better waxing treatment at spas. Yes, the spas seem more expensive, but in reality they are more thorough and have great customer service. I will never return to European Wax Center. It is a horrid chain riding on the fraudulent reputation that it is no frills, cheap waxing services. Save yourself 20 minutes of misery that you will still make you shudder months later. Go to a professional spa and receive far better, dignified treatment. Girl- do not go here. Spend the same amount, get a better wax, and don't endure some of the most miserable minutes of your life. read more

This was my first wax ever and probably my last. I used my first-time customer coupon and went in yesterday for my free bikini wax. I was not at all prepared for the pain. My waxer herself was great, explained the process to me, and was very transparent about the pain. However, the other staff was not welcoming, and I even got a knock on the door telling me to stop screaming lol. These people failed to consider that this was my first time getting hot wax ripped off me. I told the front desk lady I probably wouldn't be back as it was just too painful for me, yet she still spent 5 minutes explaining the wax pass despite my numerous "no's." It'd be one thing if I just left EWC with some pain. You're obviously not supposed to feel peachy after getting a bikini wax. But that, on top of how unwelcome I felt afterward, was enough for me never to return. If you are a first-time-ever waxer like I was, I'd recommend going to a smaller, local place that will better prioritize your comfort. read more

This was my first time visiting any European Wax Center, I'll start by saying my waxer was very nice and sweet but I was very disappointed in my service. I came for my eyebrows,upper lip and Brazilian. I'm not sure if it's the wax they use but it's like it didn't remove any of my hair on my eyebrows and upper lip. She went over it so many times and when she showed me them in the mirror it looked like nothing had been done. She offered to go over them again and after that I just said they were fine I didn't want her to mess up my shape. Almost 2hrs after and my skin is still very red and irritated. And it looks like I didn't get anything done. So much hair left over for all services. Again the waxer was very nice but the quality of the service is not it especially for how much they charge! And the receptionist that checked me out had an attitude for no reason after I didn't sign up for the packages. Will definitely not be returning. Listen to the reviews you see here. read more

I really don't like European Wax Center. The pricing is ridiculously expensive and the service is not that good. Usually my waxes last about 3 weeks until I start seeing hair but with European Wax Center, it's always at least 2 weeks. I like one technician there only who seems to know how to successfully wax. I also did not like my last visit. I was charged an extra fee due to the the technician doing the service without telling me that she was going to charge me, which I feel she did on purpose to receive more money. A wax should not be $90. Where I usually go, it's only $40. I will probably never recommend this location and I wish I knew the technician's name but she works at the D st. SE location. Why do they keep the front door locked and make you check in outside on your phone? This is so ridiculous! It's a not a dangerous block. Every other business on the block allows you to walk on in. Any other brow establishment in the city has an unlocked front door for their business. I don't want the hassle of checking in online when I can just walk and say my name. Even when they see you through the glass walls, they won't unlock the door. Why are they still doing temperature checks in March 2022? Medical facilities are not doing temperature checks. Temperature checking fails to detect COVID-19. Have they not read the research that this is marginally effective? read more

Currently on the phone with the manager - Aliyah (for almost 20 minutes now). My waxer - Dru (who burned me during my last eyebrow wax, attaching to this review) - completely burnt me during my Brazilian wax earlier today. I called immediately and let them know I am completely burnt. They told me to come back so they can put a mask on me and have their wax specialist look at it. I'm going to a doctor to get looked at (don't really trust a waxing employee for medical advice, nor do I trust going back there after being completely burnt). They refuse to give me a refund. $60 for a Brazilian and now $50 for a doctor's copay! Will be sure to post an update if they make right by their mistake. 4:33 pm update - Aliyah told me to contact corporate due to my issue. Corporates response: "We apologize for the misunderstanding. It will have to be Handel but the center as they are independently owned and operated. We will have upper management reach out (not the manager you spoke to)." Aliyah is a total liar! If you want to be nickel-and-dimed, European Wax Center is the place to get your wax. Kim, the woman waxing me, was did a great job. But I've been getting Brazilian waxes for over twenty years, and not once has an esthetician charged me for an "inner thigh" wax. To be clear, I'm not a hairy woman - but I was required to pay $23 for this add-on to get the hair more than one inch outside my thigh crease removed. Combined with the $17 "stomach strip" add-on required to wax the dozen or so hairs below my navel, I ended up paying $107, before tip, for a Brazilian that would've cost me ~$70 elsewhere. read more

Jazmin is always friendly and great. My issue is with the receptionist, the need to harass customers about buying wax passes just literally pissed me off. I said "NO" clearly at least 4 different kind of ways. It's unprofessional and not welcoming. There are deals every month and I think I should be heard the first time I say no. This experience that I just had with this young lady prompted this review because I want to run for the hills. No one has to be persuaded that much. I've been a customer for years and have always had a pass. I really don't need anyone to ask me more than once if I want to spend more money. Get that speech together and deliver it once with confidence and leave customers alone once they've declined. That was annoying. read more

Well I have been to Brazilian for many years and i familiar with the price for Bikini. I went to that place and i see service price for bikini. I was so surprised with this price that they charge each of stripes, stomach, inner and even Brazilian wax. They are greedy over money. Very poor customer service ever! Will never go back again. I was first introduced to European Wax at the H street festival in 2021. Chardonnay and Aleah were SOOOO helpful in explaining their services so I signed up on the spot. My first time there I met Chivi and she was so wonderful and patient, even while training! I've come to also meet Cemia who is so nice and attentive and last but not least, my freaking rockstar of a waxing specialist DRU!!! She made my first time such a breeze and I will never stop going to her. Every single person I've ever interacted with via phone is always so efficient and easy to talk to and they are always on time. I've been going to the Cleveland Park location for some time now, but tried this location out since it's closer to my office. Standard EWC layout and rooms - definitely nice and clean. The front desk staff is very friendly and my waxer did a good job overall. This is standard across all EWCs but honestly their online booking system is so easy to use and makes scheduling and rescheduling appointments really easy. Definitely recommend! read more

Really disappointed this location didn't work out. The front desk staff is really friendly and waxing is good for the price- usually go home to do my own touch ups. She took very good care of me and went through my thick hair with ease and minimal discomfort ! I really hate to be this person but I have not had a good experience with my wax service at this location. I've been getting waxed with EWC for a little over 3 years now and I've been going specifically for Brazilian waxes. I've never had issues before but at this location, the wax specialists that I have seen have left noticeable patches of hair. The first wax specialist I saw was new and she let me know that but not only did she take a really long time, she also pinched me a lot as she was pulling the wax off which was very uncomfortable and she she left hair. After calling to see if a more experienced wax specialist could take me, the second wax specialist not only left a lot of hair but also burned me with the wax and did not give me any real comfort as she was doing it - she didn't even press down after pulling the wax off. I have a wax pass and at this point I feel like I've wasted 2 waxes because they were so disappointing. The front desk staff and customer service is great and all but I need the actual service that I'm paying for to be great as well. Unfortunately, I am just all around disappointed. read more
