My cousin (head of oncology at a Bay Area hospital) recommended that I see Dr. Uhl. She talks to you like you have a brain. You have googled medical terms, asked friends, done your research, and you have questions! So did I. I met with Dr. Uhl and spoke with her at length to understand the radiation process and plan out my treatment options. Debunked a few myths along the way. Dr. Uhl's treatment protocol incorporates an active breathing technique. This way, the distance is increased between the area receiving radiation & the heart. Longer term, it decreases the likelihood of heart problems. Above all, Dr. Uhl is a nice person. She is caring. And, funny. Dr. Uhl is awesome.

Dr Uhl explained everything thoroughly, was compassionate and very professional. So was her medical assistants Gloria and Alejandra. When I entered the office they always had a smile on their face and answered all my questions. Michelle, Robyn and Diane, the radioactive technicians, were caring and professional. I was scared for my procedure but trusted them implicitly. I would without a doubt recommend this office and her staff.

Carol Ann Read Breast Health Center, Oakland…read more 4/29/26 Upon arrival, I accidentally went to the Alta Bates Summit Hospital so the staff told me where to go, luckily I was still early enough to go across the street for my appointment. Once I was checking in with the receptionist, I appreciated that she told me ahead of time that there will be a 15 minutes delay, then she told me where to go and such. The checking in was pretty quick and fast. I also appreciated that the Mammography Technologist named Ivory M. was patient with me even on a busy long morning. She was very respectful, kind and great at explaining things to me. Overall, as scary as it was, I had a great experience.

That's another story. I had already pre-registered by phone and online so the check in was quick. An added plus was that now, the breast center provides 2 hour free validated parking a plus at the Providence Garage (ABSMC Garage)! Once you check in at the desk inside the breast center, they give you a validated parking ticket. Everything went smoothly, from going to the Butterfly room, to change into a robe, to waiting in one of the rooms, to being called by the technician, getting the mammogram, going back to the parking garage, finding my car in the garage (after I had taken photos of where I parked and what elevator and level to get back to). I was done in less than an hour. Checked in at 9:50 am and got out at 10:30 am!

My experience: You're in the best of hands with Dr. Ross…read more I had a TURP surgery one month ago now, and Dr. Ross was flawless in his procedure. I felt so good in fact, that I had to be careful because I did not feel like I had surgery. I'm 73. Did I have doubts? Absolutely. Who in their right mind doesn't? But, I knew I had to make a decision. And, with the help of my daughter, Dr. Ross's nurse, Ki, and Dr. Ross, I did. Before my surgery, I had a prostate exam and cystoscopy. Neither experience is exactly what I call fun. I also had a catheter tube inserted in my penis for a month. I'll let you figure out how much fun that was. As you may be aware, when your prostate really starts to act up, the bigger danger is it can cause great injury to your kidneys. Which can lead you down a road of no return. That helped me put all the discomfort and pain into perspective. Your experience will be different from mine, of course. But I have to say that Dr. Ross is an excellent surgeon! and I hope this message makes it easier for you to take action on your behalf and feel confident about the decision you make.
