She was our primary for a long time until she all of a sudden left the john muir practice. The last time I saw her she sounded pretty ticked off because it seemed that I was telling her too much health problems that I wanted to address during my physical. Little disappointed about that. read more

Dr. Yep is our family doctor and the amount of care, patience, understanding and knowledge she has is unbelievable. I never feel awkward expressing my concerns since she takes every comment into account. She's very thorough and will explain everything in great detail to you. She never rushes and you feel like you're being heard and taken care of; like you are her number one priority all the time. I know others have expressed how difficult it is some times to schedule an appointment with her but, to me, it's worth it. I've seen other doctors when I've been impatient and felt like I couldn't wait for Dr. Yep and immediately regretted it. Additionally, if you go to their online web site, there's a button you can push in the appointment system asking to be contacted if anything else opens up earlier. Dr. Yep has been excellent with the kids and also with my mother so she can span the spectrum of ages. Just like I expect my dentist or mechanic to not sell me on doing anything more than necessary, the same goes for my doctor. Dr. Yep always let's me know what I must follow and other suggestions I can consider. She is an amazing doctor and I highly recommend her! read more

Ten years ago, I hand-picked Dr. Yep out of this Blue Cross PPO directory because I wanted a female doctor...the movie, "The Hand That Rocks The Cradle," still haunts me to this day. Yes, I was very young then (and shouldn't be watching the rate R thriller) and scared the beejeezus out of me! Dr. Yep is an awesome doctor. She's so personable that she remembers our personal conversations. I've had a doctor who was so cold and stoic. I don't want to be seen by a robot! She's very patient and never rush you out the door to move on to the next appointment, but that also presents the problem of her running over and being late for appointments, so sometimes you may be sitting in the examination room for a while. Once I waited at least 45 minutes past my scheduled appointment. I wasn't sure if I should stay or go. And how much longer it'll be. It can be tough to get an appointment with her since she is in the office maximum of 2-3 days a week. I couldn't get one for MONTHS for my physical! Oh wells...according to a quick physical for my life insurance, I'm in perfect health. Her hours begin early morning. The earliest is 7:45, I think. Although it may be difficult to make some appointments, the office does take same day emergency appointments. If Dr. Yep is unavailable, there are other practitioners you can see instead. Located on Pill Hill (in close proximity to Summit), there is metered parking and a parking lot. The building offers valet service which you have to pay for. My initial appointment was scheduled over 2 months out. The day before my appointment, the office called and cancelled. The next soonest appointment was scheduled 1 month out. The day before my rescheduled appointment, the office called and cancelled again pushing my appointment an additional month. No apology or offer to find a more reasonable solution. Four plus months is not a reasonable time for a new patient to wait to see a PCP. read more

Dr.Yep is fantastic. I've seen her for a few years and my wife even longer. She is what I always hope for in a medical practitioner - smart, warm, caring and she works with you on your health issues. She is oriented to complementary medicine as I am but she respects what you (as the primary person in charge of your own health) wants to do. I'd give her 10 stars if that were an options. read more

I do not know how "good" of a doctor she is because it seems like I will not get to see her. I just got a new health insurance and I need to pick a primary doctor. My friend recommended Dr. Yep and said she is a good doctor, so I went onto my insurance website and saw that Dr. Yep is one of the doctors on the list and that she is taking new patients. I called her office, and after being put on hold for 10 mins, I was told that Dr Yep isn't accepting new patients. WTH? Can someone pls update the list? The list of doctors that I am looking at is dated July 20, 2012. This is just frustrating! read more

She moved and is now at John Muir UCSF. I had to wait half an hour just to get to the room. All the other doctor's here are bringing in patients right away. There were plenty of staff sitting around and empty exam rooms. read more

Sadly my doctor left I had to chose a new one and Francine has rubbed me wrong since day one I felt I annoyed her for asking for test that I felt was needed because I don't know my family history I'm adopted but I feel also she may have biaseness so I pass I won't be returning read more

I am a new patient of Dr. Yep's and have seen her twice in the past six weeks. I'm so happy I chose her as my PCP! Dr. Yep is queer and trans friendly, and I love that she incorporates things like breathing techniques and mindfulness into her practice. Honestly I can't say enough positive things about Dr. Yep. Twice now I have come to her with an array of ambiguous symptoms and she has walked me through the process of inquiry, listening intently to information I give her, and working with me to figure out the cause of my issues. She is always patient, smart, and straight-forward. She puts the CARE back into "healthcare." Francine Yep has been my doctor for the last 10 years, and I recommend her very highly. She's smart, compassionate, thorough, and funny, and she approaches medical care with an eye to overall well-being, not just whatever symptom might have brought you in to the office. I really appreciate being treated as a person, not just a patient. Dr. Yep pays attention to the intersection between emotional health and physical health. She is also very open to acupuncture and other forms of holistic medicine, but makes sure the bases are covered in terms of western-style medicine. On a couple of occasions I've gone in to see her and left with both a recommendation for acupuncture and a prescription for the standard "western" treatment in case the acupuncture didn't bring results. Both times, the acupuncture solved the problem, so I ended up not needing the prescription. The only drawback is that word seems to have gotten around, because her appointment slots book up a long time in advance. I've seen a few other doctors in the practice -- Dr. Munich and Dr. Logan -- and have always gotten good care. The office seems well-run, too. Same-day appointments are never a problem, and I haven't run into any paperwork or billing snafus in the time that I've been there. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Yep's for many years. I am so fortunate to have found her. She listens, gets to know me and my preferences in treatment, and respects my decisions about her recommended care. When problems are minor, she is incremental in her approach, which I appreciate. When problems are major, she is on it in a second and makes sure all of the lab work, studies, etc. are done immediately so that she can make the diagnosis and then treat the problem ASAP. On one occasion, she asked the lab to do some blood work STAT and call her on her personal mobile phone with the results. She then called me and we made a plan based on what she had found out.This was about 9PM at night. This kind of care, followed up by her astute medical judgement is quite rare. I do not take her for granted. And, to top it off, her staff and everyone who works in the administrative area of the practice is just as committed to my comfort and care. Just the other day, Dr. Yep's nurse, Jessica, walked me to the lab, which was through a maze of hallways. I never would have found it on my own. Simply exceptional. Francine Yep came into my life as my new doctor out here in CA when I moved from the other coast 2 years ago. I got her name as a strong recommendation on a large Bay area Women's list serve. She has been such a gift in my life. I had a very significant traumatic medical experience in my life involving the sudden illness and loss of my partner in 2012. Since then I have been extremely anxious in medical settings. Aside from being a very experienced and competent doctor, well versed in more Naturopathic studies with a blend of eastern and western medicines, she is incredibly reassuring, kind, and is able, just by her very loving and giving and centered nature to put me at ease....no easy task. She takes my BP herself...with the sounds of the ocean on her phone and staying close to me...as it is off the chart normally. She listens to me, hears me and *sees* me...and takes the time to answer my many questions. She is extremely intuitive and empathic. She is up on all the most current information and believes in using all aspects of care natural to traditional. I am the kind of patient that really tests a doctor because my chronic disease is hard to treat and I am sensitive to medications. Dr Yep was my family doctor for 14 years and I was sad to lose her when I moved away. She practices a great blend of western and eastern medicine, that is, she is very open to alternative medicine. She's extremely respectful, patient and kind. She was excellent at taking complex information and reducing it to a couple of treatment options but was always open to any approach I suggested. It can be hard sometimes to get an appointment with her but I was always able to get a same day appointment with another doctor if she wasn't available. She's hands down the best medical professional that I have ever had. read more

Dr. Yep has been my primary care physician for over a decade, ending a 3-year search. She recently moved to a new practice and my partner and I followed her without hesitation. (TIP: If you act quickly, you can get in her practice. It won't take long for it to fill up again.) Dr. Yep is thorough, sensible and knowledgeable about both Western medicine and Eastern and holistic approaches. She takes the time to listen, treats me like a partner and is warm and caring. She's helped me navigate my family's tricky medical decisions as well as my own. She remembers everything I tell her and cares about all of it. She's pegged things about me that others have missed, and counseled restraint when I've been ready to do something foolish, and urged me to get things taken care of that I was putting off. I recently moved to the Bay Area and saw Dr. Yep for the first time. She is wonderful! I tend to put off medical exams, and avoid medications, and I was pleased to discover that she is open to discussing alternative modes of healing (diet, acupuncture, etc) with her patients. She describes herself as a "partner" in your health, which makes visiting the doctor seem much less scary and more like a collaboration between patient and provider, the way it should be. Dr. Yep was referred to me by a physician when I was looking for a new primary care physician. She has been my physician for over 9 years. She is an outstanding professional and a compassionate person. She is highly skilled, listens, tries to understand the cause of the health issue rather than "throwing medications" at you. She believes in the power of alternate therapies such as homeopathy and acupuncture and readily refers to a specialist when necessary. I HEART Dr. Franny! I have been a patient of Dr. Yep for over ten years, and my 9-year-old son has been her patient since birth. When my son was born she came to the hospital every single day to check on us, even though we were being monitored hourly by the hospital staff. Dr. Franny is kind, interested, never rushed, genuine, thorough, sweet and funny...and is not married to western-only practices. When my allergies flared up terribly during pregnancy she recommended acupuncture. I tried it and it helped me tremendously. Dr. Franny remembers details we give her about our lives from year to year. She's incredible. One time when my son was very young he and I were reading a copy of Hop On Pop while waiting for Dr. Franny to see us. She could see that my son loved the book and so gave it to him. His first Dr. Seuss book! She is that nice. I know she recently moved to another practice in order to allow for more time with patients. She was so popular at the other office that it was often difficult to get an appointment with her without a lot of advanced notice. Go see Dr. Franny, she is wonderful! read more

I was given my appointment for mid-December 2014 when I called to book in October of this year, and in mid-November received a call saying that Dr. Yep could not see me on that date. I was offered a date later in the week "to be confirmed" by Dr. Yep. I did not hear about my confirmation, so after Thanksgiving I called the office only to speak with a staff attendant who said "yes" he saw that Dr. Yep had not confirmed the appointment -- and said he would flag my appointment to get a response from the doctor. Two days ago I receive a voicemail message from Dr. Yep's office indicating that Dr. Yep cannot see me and could they offer an appointment with someone else in the practice. It is almost the end of the year and impossible to book an appointment with a doctor that I have vetted (no, I don't just book an appointment with anyone that has M.D. after their name). When I called initially, I asked if Dr. Yep was taking new patients -- I was told "yes". I can appreciate doctors having a economic/financial necessity to be booked through the end of the year to finish the insurance year with a bang, but I don't appreciate being used as an economic/financial hedge where my health is concerned. I don't care how highly rated a doctor may be, it's disingenuous to say you are taking new patients when there is no chance/small chance of doing intake within the timeframe needed by the patient. The end of the year is something of a crunch, for everyone, not just those in the medical profession. If Dr Yep would have just communicated to her staff/appointment takers that no new patients are being taken at this time, or no appointments are available, I would respect that. But this kind of behaviour is not admirable. read more
