Annual customer here for 5+ years. I've always had good experience with the optometrists, they are professional and knowledgeable. The paperwork and insurance co-payment processing is usually quick and painless. The glasses ain't cheap but you are getting a high quality product and excellent customer service. Puff puff test is easy, don't sweat it. Relax for the bright light shining in your eye, the doc needs to see your retina. This is the flagship location, lots of staff, but the eye group has several other locations in Tippecanoe County and nearby areas. Highly recommend. The mandatory eye photo is not covered by insurance and that is a legit frustration. However they keep the digital photos and those serve as documentation of eye condition and charts retinal stability or changes over time. read more

I'm not typically one to review a place, but they are unprofessional here. About a month ago I had gone to pick up some glasses and when they were making adjustments, the worker there broke them. I understand mistakes happen, so I stayed quiet and watched how the situation would be handled. Instead of coming directly to me and letting me know what had happened, she went ahead and went to go look for another frame that was identical but when she couldn't, she went and grabbed one frame as a "temporary" replacement while they ordered the new replacements. After that she told me she would call later that day to update me, never did. After that I have gone back twice, where they continuously told me that they are unsure of what is going on with the frames and again promised to call later in the day after asking around, they never did either time. Now they are telling me the frames are no longer available at all, and that we need to go in and pick new ones with no compensation for the 2 months total that I have been waiting to receive my glasses. I was seen last week for a medical visit and had no complaints, they discussed Optos retinal imaging, and I informed them that I was under the care of an Ophthalmologist and would not require this. Today I called to have an eye exam, and spoke with Front desk on the phone, again refused the Optos retinal exam as I was being seen by my Ophthalmologist next week for a full exam. Went in to my appointment, and informed the front desk staff that I would not be getting the Optos exam. Tech came to take me back to the room and when we went in to the room where the Optos was, I refused and explained that I had told them in person last week, on the phone today and on arrival that I did not wish to have the Optos performed as I was under the care of an Ophthalmologist and would be seeing him next week. She went and got the Office Manager who told me it was THEIR standard of care to have the Optos performed, and I would not be able to have an eye exam without it. Waste of my time, and very dubious practice to not listen to their customer and still try to perform a screen which is NOT considered a medical necessity AND I am under the care of an Eye Specialist (Kinda like having your Primary Care Doc read your MRI instead of a Radiologist). If Evans and Taylor Providers cannot perform an eye exam without an OPTOS screen, it also makes me wonder about their skill. read more

HOWEVER--when the office staff cannot dispense the glasses nor take accurate measurements, it's all for naught. Go ANYwhere else. That's my suggestion. read more

I am not one to leave reviews of the negative nature, as I worked in retail 20+ years and know just how hard it is to earn someone's business. My first visit to Evans eyecare was disappointing. I went there to get pair of glasses and that was it. while I was in The room with the eye doctor. I thought I might try to wear contacts once again. I explained to the doctor that my eyes have been increasingly dry, and been impossible to wear contacts; is there something that he recommended that I could try. He returned with a pair of trial lenses that were free I put it in my eye gave him a shot I meet with associate to pick out my frames and I was then told that there is a $95 charge for contact lenses fitting and I needed to pay it before I'd be able to pick up my glasses. I politely explained to The employee That I was only interested in seeing if my eyes could tolerate contact lenses as they became increasingly dry with age. I was not told about the extra $95 fitting fee that I would be charged and had they informed me that I had to pay I would've certainly not taken the contact lenses. There there was actually no fitting performed, I received a trail pair of contacts free from the manufacturer. Today I received a text that my glasses were ready I quickly called the store and was told I needed to pay the $95 contact lens fitting fee. I explained the whole situation once again to different person. This person said they would call me back with an answer I never got a call back. Unfortunately, the contacts do not work with my eyes and I will not be ordering contacts from them I never thought my in life I have to pay $95 for a free trial pair of contacts that is a free from the manufacturer. It's unfortunate that this business more interested in the bottom line than earning the longtime business of myself my family and friends. Please good use judgment and waive this fee so I can pick up my glasses I can't see!!! read more

I have gone to this place for several years. However they are now requiring every patient to undergo a retinal eye exam procedure that is not covered by insurance. This exam is not required at other establishments and is not covered by insurance. Therefore, they are requiring patients to pay $39 annually for what is supposed to be a free eye exam according to my insurance. There are three of us that get eye exams and two that get glasses every year. We are going somewhere else. This is an interesting way to lose patients. read more

We my husband and I have been going to Evans, Taylor, Piggott and Finney for a couple of years and had no complaints about their care or the people who helped us. However, since last year they have been demanding that every patient have a retinal scan done at a out of pocket cost of $39.00. I asked if that had to be done each visit and the young woman I spoke with said it is mandatory! I said mandatory by who? And she said the owners. I understand they want to provide good eye care, but seriously, every visit annually you have to have this and you have no say so as to whether you want it or not? I have excellent insurance and yet I have to pay nearly $100.00 for us out of pocket. I think this is just a way to get more money out of their patients. What a shame. Stop overpaying for contacts!! I've been an off and on patient for years but won't be back after today. I called 3 weeks ago to order some new contacts, and was quoted approximately $280 for a 6 month supply, and that it would take 10-15 days for them to ship. 15 days passed and I hadn't heard anything, so I called back and was told it would be another 5 days. Not the end of the world, but I was running low and ended up wearing old contacts that were a different prescription in one eye. Fast forward to today, and I receive a text saying my contacts have arrived. I show up, and am surprised to see only a 3 month supply waiting for me. The receptionist does some digging, and sees that they only ordered a 3 month supply, but the price they quoted (and charged) me was only for the 3 month and not the 6 month as I was told on the phone. This was my first time ordering these specific contacts from EP&F, so I wasn't familiar with what the actual costs were. Had I known what I was paying was only for a 3 month supply, I never would've ordered through them. They offered to return them and refund my money, but I was already out of contacts and couldn't wait another 3 weeks for new ones to arrive. That being said-- they charge $145 for ONE box of my contacts, where Costco charges $89 a box, 1-800contacts charges $99 per box, and my previous eye doctor only charges $99 a box (and they'll match Costco's prices). If you currently buy contacts from EP&F, I HIGHLY suggest you look around to see if you are being ripped off and paying way too much for your contacts. Besides the overcharging of the contacts, the other dock in stars comes from being quoted the wrong quantity multiple times, and for them not being proactive in alerting me when there was a delay in the shipment. read more

"Eye" can see...! I love the staff, eye doctor at this location, and just overall the small office love and care. They take good care of me here. Not to be unfair to a chain like LensCrafters, but here I feel the extra fifth star love! Another frustrating experience. Nothing like going for an eye exam, and then having them say we need to do another test (for the wife due to diabetes) and asking is this part of vision or medical, and being told vision, and having them submit to medical. This would not have been an issue awhile ago before they stopped taking our medical (see previous review) and it resulted once more in an out of network pricey procedure. I gave them a second chance, and with that, we will be taking our business elsewhere, for I will not be taken a third time. Due diligence is a two way street, I messed up the first time... second time, all on them. read more

My son needed glasses and I took him at first to Dr. Monroe, and that was a huge mistake. However, thankfully I then brought him to Evans, Piggot and Finney and he saw Dr. Finney. She was incredibly patient and nice to my 5 year old. Got down on 'his level' and explained things. He even asked when we were going back! My husband then went there as well. They definitely are our family's eye doctors now. The only frustration I have is they seem expensive. My husbands glasses cost over $800. I know I could get cheaper at like Eye Glass World, but I guess you get what you pay for. read more

I had a great first experience here. My eye doctor, Dr. Courtney Oakley, was a young lady who thoroughly looked over my eyes and listened to me and talked me through everything. She helped calm my anxiety and recommended to me Refresh eyedrops for dry eyes and a new eye glass prescription. Yes, she is young but she was very kind and seemed to know exactly what she was talking about. The receptionists and other workers there were also nice and the whole appointment went very efficiently. No complaints. read more

They are friendly enough but customer service is pretty poor. Wanted an adjustment to a prescription. Was told I'd be called back. No call. Called again and was told to come to either office. Took off work, went to Purdue location and was told I couldn't be helped there. Was told I'd get an email with adjusted prescription in a few days. Got the email, but with no prescription attached. No response via email. I just gave up. Two weeks for a piece of paper is too long to wait and too much of a hassle to go through. Solved problem by going somewhere else. read more

I had an eye exam earlier this year and left with two brands of contacts to trial. I liked one best and ordered a 90 day supply online. I had the supplier contact the Evans Piggot & Finney directly to get the prescription and received them without any problems. Fast forward a few months and I was ready to place another order. This time Evans Piggot & Finney deny the prescription request stating it was a "trial" prescription. I called them to find out why it was trial and they explained that they need me to call them and tell them which brand I preferred. Apparently ordering my 2nd 90 day supply did not sufficiently deliver that message. So I played the game and gave them my preference. Today I went to get my written prescription because they refuse to answer the contact supplier (they've made multiple attempts to reach Evans Piggot & Finney and all go unanswered). When I looked at the prescription before leaving I noticed they specified that my prescription was for a 30 day supply. I told them I ordered a 90 days supply and asked if that would cause problems. Their answer: yes, this will only work for a 30 day supply and they can change it to 90, but need to get back with me because the doctor will need to approve that change. They went on to tell me my trial was a 30 day supply. I explained that it was for 7 days not 30. I honestly have no clue why they are trying to make this so hard but I will NEVER go there again. read more

I visited the location in the Purdue Student Union when I was a graduate student. Overall, I was very happy with the care and attention of the doctors and it was convenient being in the Union. However, I did find their price for contacts to be pricier than other options. For a year supply of daily contact lenses, they quoted me about $1000 (daily contacts versus weekly or longer are more pricey, but I needed the daily ones). I looked online and was able to get the exact same contacts for about $750 through 1-800-contacts. The following year, I went to Sears Optics and was able to get a year supply of the exact same contacts for $500. This was all without having vision insurance. Just an FYI, especially for fellow poor students looking to save some money. read more

At the time of this review, this was a newly opened office that they recently moved into. The interior decorating is done extremely well. It truly is a gorgeous office. Dr. Evans is excellent, knowledgeable, and great with patients. The front desk staff was friendly, professional, and welcoming. Their prices seemed comparable to other offices I've been to in the area. The glasses I ordered took a bit longer than I expected to get finished but they turned out flawless so the extra few day wait was worth it. I have pretty bad eyesight, blind in one eye and the other isn't much better. But, I can see. Yesterday, I had a stabbing pain in my eye. I went to urgent care, forgetting my eye dr had their late day. The UC found nothing. We were on our way home when I remembered - 20 minutes til EPF closed and 30 minutes away. They stayed late to see me, were so very kind and sweet to me. The Dr figured out my problem and were just amazing. I HIGHLY recommend this group. I see Dr. Finney on a regular basis but all of the Drs here are wonderful amazing people. read more

Excellent customer service, and by far the best doctors in town. I specifically like how all the staff work together to accommodate any need. If another staff member is more knowledgeable about a subject or issue, they aren't afraid to ask each other for help. Great frame selection, and I have to say, I love my new Jimmy Choo glasses! Doctor Hedilburg test my eyes wrong and It took 3 weeks to get the wrong ordered glasses. Then they had to order new glasses and it took another 2 weeks. After waiting 5 weeks of time I just found out new glasses are not the right ones neither. Super slow and they do not care about you at all. read more

This review is about the PURDUE OFFICE. Doctor is very friendly, patient and professional. The optician is not helpful at all. She sat there staring at her computer all the time without offering any help. I looked around myself and asked a question. She answered succinctly and went back to her computer right away. I said I will check other places, she said OK and left me standing there not knowing if I was all set and ready to go or what. I pulled out a chair and sat down and she asked "You need anything?" Well, if you are too busy you can say you are busy and I can wait. If everything is finished, why can't you tell me that I am ready to go. Definitely not the best experience I had. read more

The optometrist was the best I've had in a long time, so that's why they're getting 2 stars. However, do NOT buy glasses from them. Take your prescription elsewhere. They screwed up my glasses twice, and made me pay more for fixing them than I ever would've paid if the cost had been up-front. I now have two useless pairs of glasses rather than one fully functional pair that I could've gotten in 1 hour at Walmart. Also, it takes 7-10 business days to get your messed-up glasses, supposedly; both times, for me, it took longer. Get your prescription with them, then go ANYWHERE else to buy your glasses. read more

I was a new patient and at my appointment I was so impressed with my optometrist and the staff I encountered. They were great. I told them my current vision insurance expired 7/31 and I'd have new insurance 9/1 so I wanted to get my eyes taken care of. They were in bad shape. This was July 18th. I had to pay for the extra things I needed done for my lenses before they'd order them. They text around 3p the 31st to tell me glasses had finally come in. I called to ask if I needed to take a short break from work because I was off at 5p when they closed and the assured me I was good to come on my lunch break Wednesday or even after work Wednesday since they had later hours. When I came Wednesday on lunch, the girl who was supposed to help me, informs me I had to pay for the glasses because my insurance wasn't covering the glasses since my insurance had expired the 31st and they didn't charge insurance until pick up. I was not told this at my appointment or when I called the day before. This made no sense since I had told them my insurance situation before and I had to pay additional fees to order my glasses anyway. I asked if I got my money back for the additional expenses and she rudely told me "well no the glasses are already made". Then she goes to talk to someone and was gone so long I had to leave to return from my lunch break. When I called back they told me I had to pay full price, $211 for my glasses which was ridiculous to me, especially with me being so up front and communicating with them once I got the call that my glasses were in. It's disappointing because I really liked the optometrist and had a follow up appointment with her and had intended to have my family go there as well. There was no attempt to med the situation or even trying to find a reasonable solution. If all the facts were communicated beforehand I wouldn't have been so upset. But I feel like I was treated like just a number. Luckily I was referred elsewhere and got glasses, within 2 hours of going in, and didn't have to pay $211 dollars. read more

I have been a client here for many years, as are my children. They can get my children always same day when they pick up an eye infection from school. They are so amazing with my kids, taking the time to make them laugh and enjoy going to their visits. Most recently, I brought my Grandmother in for reading glasses last week. She can be extremely picky and hard to please and they never rushed us. They made us feel like we had all the time in the world and we truly felt like the lady who helped us was just as invested in the decision making process as we were. She was wonderful!
