Nancy was the sweetest lady, she reminded me of my own grandmother, she greeted me and went through some questions to help me narrow down my selection, she educated me on things to consider based on my answers and then we walked together side by side looking at all the carpets. I showed her what I liked, and she found me pretty close to what I was looking for sitting on their floor. The cost with pad and installation was $1000 cheaper than other quotes I had received for a lesser grade of carpet. Install date could have been as little as three days from purchase. I'm not one to drop a one-star review, but this place was really a letdown for me. Yeah, they have a huge selection of carpets with relatively low prices, but their services suck - in a HUGE way. In an effort to support local business, my girlfriend and I decided to check out Evans Carpet Junkyard when we needed a new area rug for our bedroom. When we arrived, Dave, the salesman was very helpful with selecting a rug for our needs. He wrote up the contract and told us it would be 7 - 10 days before it would be ready, and we will receive a phone call. After not hearing anything after 18 days I called them. The man I spoke with on the phone had not one iota of professionalism. He couldn't tell me when the area rug would be ready. There was no apology for the inconvenience of having to wait longer. He didn't even offer an explanation as to why the rug wasn't ready in the estimated time frame that was given. The conversation concluded with, "sorry I can't help you". WTF is that?!? They obviously didn't want my business. I was pissed. So, after about 10 minutes of fuming, I called Evan's Carpet Junkyard back to cancel my order. The woman I spoke with was just as un-helpfull and unprofessional as the man was earlier. She didn't offer an apology or an explanation as to why my rug wasn't done on time. Nor did she offer a time frame in which it would be done. She had an attitude that was sort of like 'yeah, whatever, we don't need your business anyway'. My conclusion for the poor service I received: if you're not bringing several hundred dollars worth of business to Evans Carpet Junkyard, they won't be interested in doing business with you. read more

I found out, when you get a carpet from Carpet King, they send the order HERE to Evans. So cut out the middle-man and skip the markup. Evens is a no-frills, go-find-what-you-want kind of place. LOVE IT. It's a huge 1-room warehouse, with hundreds of enormous rolls of carpet everywhere - all textures and colors. Leaning up along both walls are "remnants", which are rolls that are almost all gone. These are GREAT deals. The salesmen really aren't "sales" type of people, which is nice. They are very helpful. Definitely a "wholesale" feel. I decided to have my bath mats made for me from carpet. I came to Evans and found a nice, dark brown "remnant" roll (4' x 11') and am having 4 rugs cut from it: 3' x 5' 30" x 30" and two 22" x 44" All for around $50 TOTAL. (They "seal" the edges, or whatever that's called.) Picking up my rugs this week & will update! **Update** Carpets are perfect. I miscalculated & forgot to add the actual remnant for $20. (Rugs are $1 per sq ft to bind/seal.) So my total was $73 for all 4 rugs. read more

Don't go on a Saturday! If you do, hover immediately around the desks! There's no line or take a number system (take a number would be great!) and getting someone to spend time with you on a Saturday is difficult. It was our first trip and We had a budget and style in mind based on a lot of research and visits to other stores. Ray was very helpful comparing what costs would be with various styles and their (Evans) install vs. other contractor. He knows carpet. Face weight isn't listed on the rolls, so if this is a factor, definitely go during the week when they can call the manufacturer. When we were nearly decided (just calling the installer to verify that size roll would work) Ray had to go away and help another customer. We spent the next 10 minutes trying to get his attention again to ask him to hold the carpet roll. I stopped back in to pay for the roll on a Friday afternoon and it was not too busy at all. Ultimately we found a wonderful carpet at a wonderful price and will return on a weekday if/when we need more carpet. read more

I am very pleased with the service I have gotten here. When I pulled up my carpet prior to installation, I noticed a leak in the basement. The guys came as scheduled and did not install the basement carpet in order to give me time to identify the problem. David, the sales/service rep I have dealt with from the beginning (also the person that came to measure) has been more than helpful. He has talked to me about how to identify the problem and offered not to charge me until they come back out and finish the job. So considering it could be at least a week until I figure out the problem, I am enjoying carpeting throughout the rest of the house. It is so nice to not have to worry about getting charged extra for another installation, and a complete bonus and service to me to not charge me until the job is complete. We needed to get new carpet for our upstairs. Lowes or Home Depot wanted $3500 for about 850 sq. feet. That was way too much. We went to Evans and worked with Brad, a super nice guy who explained everything and did not try to oversell us. They have tons of carpet to choose from. We got a nice, medium-quality carpet installed for $2000. This included removal and hauling away of the old carpet and pad, plus new pad being installed. Walked into Evans Carpet Junkyard with the hope of buying/ordering a carpet today. While there is are a wide variety of carpets to select from, the service is awful. When I walked in, no greeted me, no one offered to help me, and no one even acknowledged that I was there. I started walking around to look at the carpets and still received no help. Finally I went up to someone and asked if there was anyone who could help me. He pointed to several people in a group talking and said that "they" could help me. I went over to them and waited for them to finish their conversation. Finally, a lady named Lisa Evans asked how she could help me. I told her I was there to pick out a carpet that would fit my living room and hallway. I didn't have the exact dimensions, but I know I needed a 15 ft width. She was helpful in showing me the 15ft rolls and I picked out a couple that I like. I told her I was going straight home and would call her as soon as I measured the living room area exactly. I called her back within an hour or so, gave her the measurements, and she told me she would call right back with the price once she gets the measurements together. I waited several hours and still didn't receive a call back. I then called her and was told that she was busy and that I needed to leave a message. Lisa called back within 30 minutes and gave me a price. While she was talking, she must of accidentally hung up on me. I waited several minutes to see if she would call me back, but she didn't. So I called her again and the lady who answered forwarded me to Lisa Evan's voicemail. Still haven't received a call back.... I had every intent to buy a carpet today, but after the disappointing service, I am going elsewhere. read more

We've had their carpet in our living room and hallway for 2 years and are getting bedroom carpet today. HOWEVER. I Give them 4 star because the service and work were fantastic! However, when I called to get a quote to bind a rug I already owned, they quoted $50.00 to $80.00 for the job. I took my rug there and didn't think to ask for the quote in writing. When picking up the rug a week later I was presented with an invoice for $293.48. It was TOTAL STICKER SHOCK! I probably would not have had the work done had I known up front the cost. At the quoted price it seemed like a great deal. Feeling a little robbed.
