I came here to get my hair trimmed and get my highlights darkened before an upcoming trip and they did a wonderful job with Mama Evans checking in and supervising her hairstylists. Mama Evans gave the hairstylist advice, feedback, and encouragement they needed to execute what I wanted as the end goal and I was really happy with how it turned out. The next week, took little princess here to get her hair trimmed and they did an excellent job as well. Super affordable prices and the staff is friendly. I am so glad I found this place! Sariah did a fabulous haircut and style for me! She's very good at what she does, even though she's still a student. She is super friendly and fun to talk to! Next time I'm I go I'm definitely asking to be put on her schedule for a manicure and/or pedicure, because I sure need one. I heard they pierce ears too, and my 4 year old wants hers pierced, so I may just schedule to have it done here. People need to remember this is a hair school. If you are going to a school expecting a salon cut you might be disappointed. They are learning. They are not staff, they are students. Evans is a great hair school! I have had 100% satisfaction every time. And their stance during covid is the main reason I go there. Health choices are personal. I made an appointment a month ago for small money pieces, a couple highlights, and a trim. My hair stylists name was Savannah, and I had the worst experience and will never be going back. She over-bleached my hair, not even joking she was pulling out CHUNKS and CHUNKS of dead, fried hair for about 10 minutes. 10 MINUTES. other than the fact half of my hair was gone, it didn't even look good. It's was yellow, not toned at all, and my face framings are jagged and not even on both sides. She gave me attitude, saying that I wasn't clear on what I wanted and that it was my fault my hair wasn't healthy. I told the manager, and they said I still had to pay, which is insane because half of my hair was laying on the floor. Thankfully it was a hair school so it was cheap, but please save both you and your hair and DO NOT go here :( read more

Don't go here if you care about your exposure to COVID. I walked in for an appointment and none of the staff were wearing masks. This was before the mandate was lifting. The front desk girl looked at me smuggly and said "we don't have to wear masks" as if I was the moron for being concerned about my health. There was no information about their COVID policy on their website, nor did they mention it when I scheduled the appointment. It's completely inconsiderate to take away your customer's choice for protection and I will tell everyone I know not to go there. read more

I went for a simple silver money piece, I was under the dryer with 6foils for an hour! I explained I wanted a silver/white money piece which would definitely stand out on darker dirty blonde hair, we get back to the chair after toning and it is not light and bright, you couldn't even tell I had my hair lighted so I say it's not as bright as I'd like so we go back to tone it again, well now I left with a silver/ purple undertone. She asked what I thought, I told her it is not what I wanted, and asked what I could do so it wasn't purple. I asked her what I could do to fix it, she replied with ask the people at Sally's they would know there product best.. NEVER go to a school, because clearly they aren't taught how to fix their errors. read more

My mother went to school at Evans just shy of 1000 years ago. She loved it and was a great stylist from all she learned there. Fast forward a few gazillion moons - I went there hoping to go from a very bleached blonde with some pesky greys to a rich red. I knew this was a risk as even super experienced stylists will tell you this can cause you to go pink. I had a great experience. They took the time to ensure all the proper steps were taken to avoid any pitfalls in the color process, and they nailed it!!! My stylist Jamie with the help of Evan's very capable instructor Kelly were awesome. I will be going here in future for all my hair care needs....not to mention pedicures and other spa treatments. read more

It's a school so they are learning, but I've always had a good experience. In fact, I've even had gorgeous results and I always come back here. I can't beat the price and they really do a good job. When I'm doing color, I'm sure to ask for someone who is good at it. I bring my boys here for their hair cuts. Can't beat $3.50 on Tuesdays, plus even if it were not exactly what they want, my boys always need another haircut in 2 weeks anyway. read more

I went to have my hair done at Evans hair school and loved it! My stylist was Tara Whitlock and she did a fabulous job in getting the color I wanted, a gorgeous red. She also cut my hair and styled it really well in a fun way I've never done before with a straightener. She gave great tips on how to care for both my hair color and helping with heat damage. I am an older student at Evans. I love how quickly I picked up on cuts and styles within the first few weeks. Now I'm graduating in a few months. I can cut men, women and children's hair, color, style, do face shaves, and waxes, facials, manicures, pedicures, chemical straightening, perms, highlights and balayages. You can get all of these services @ Evans at a fraction of the salon prices. Honestly your $3.50 Tuesday cut is worth so much more because it is perfected with Teachers improvement,or approval. I have a lot of request appointments because I care about who sits down in my chair. Do I plan on coming back once I graduate for some of these services? ABSOLUTELY!!! read more

Basically, they suck. I went there to get a routine trim. I have fairly long hair and the girl made me stand up in order to cut my hair. I've never had that happen before. And it wasn't even a good cut. I still have split ends out the wazoo. My fiancee went to get a trim, and asked specifically to get his hair cut leaving an inch on the top and a half inch on the sides. Well, he just got home, and he looks like a skinhead. The dumb girl basically buzzed his whole head and it looks awful. He told me when he told her she did it too short, all she had to say was "um...you look good with short hair!" Yeah. Methinks not is for sure. I don't think I'm going to go back to them, at least not for a hair cut. And my fiancee is 100% against even going near them again. He got a better cut at Dollar Cuts in Pleasant Grove. Maybe I'm just spoiled because my best friend's mom in California is a top of the line hairstylist and always did my hair, but I thought the point of a trim was to get rid of split ends and allow the hair to grow longer. Time to find a new hair stylist. Another negative is that the girl who answers the phone is very rude, on the phone and in person. She gives you a death look and her tone of voice basically says "screw you." I suggest you go elsewhere for your hair care needs. read more

This is worth reading. I went in to get my split ends cut off and a couple layers, just a trim to keep the shape I already had. The woman I was with was awful. I had to ask to have my hair washed, I had to stand up for part of the cut, she was too harsh when she brushed my hair (despite me saying I had a sensitive scar all the way around my head), she parted it in the middle and I had to tell her that that wasn't where I parted my hair AFTER she had started cutting, she didn't give me the two layers I asked for and chopped off 7 inches of my original 18. My hair has never looked worse; even after a brain surgery it looked better and it was washed by a nurse with a giant syringe! Now I have to pay $40 to have it fixed. Going to Evans was the worst mistake I ever made. read more

For several years we have used the services at the college. The staff had been kind and Ms Evans had been supportive. During these difficult pandemic times I called to verify their services would be open and specifically verified that with the very close proximity to the patrons that the person scheduled to cut my 97 yo fathers hair would be wearing a mask. I was assured that they would use one. I was beyond upset when i discovered that not only did the person not wear a mask they asked my father to take his off. He said " no one on the staff was wearing masks". He had been in his apartment for nearly 2 months now he goes there and gets totally exposed. I am furious. The services performed require them to be are less than 2 feet from a patron, masks are not only necessary they are essential. read more

The facility was clean, the atmosphere was very welcoming and comfortable. The students too extra time to talk about expectations. I am very picky about going to get my hair done places, I usually just have my aunt do it for me. But I went to have my hair permed today and I am SOOO happy with it! It is a hair school and for a guy they do a great job on my hair. If I have a issue the instructor always fixes it for me. Out of 20 haircuts there was only one I wasn't thrilled with but it still wasn't bad. If you are worried about it just get a advanced student. Tuesdays are the cheap day but it is really busy call a couple of days in advance. read more

My teenaged daughter and I have had our hair cut at Evans Hairstyling College. We both have long, coarse hair and both of us have always been happy with our haircuts. The students have been confident and friendly, as well as the teachers who periodically checked their work. I have been coming to this school since the 1970's, my visiting guests have come too when in town. I have preferred this school over others basically because Kelly Evans and her family care about providing a good customer experience in a training setting. They run a clean, friendly, and well supervised school. I am shocked at some of the comments highlighted, on page one. Ms Evans would never allow a complaint go unresolved. Many go to schools just because they are cheaper than a real salon...true it is nice to save a buck, but I come knowing I am charged less because I Am allowing a student to learn by providing the services required for her/his licence. I count myself fortunate that they are open within miles of my home and that I have never Left disappointed...love the Evans Special with Pedicure, Haircut specials on Tues, and other highlighted specials That, Fri, Sat. The quality of my manicures were low-cheap nail polish, no filing or shaping, plus the students aren't customer friendly. The girl rushed through and acted like she didn't want to be there. I go when they have the special every month for a $3 mani. It isn't the world's best mani but I'm hard on my hands and it lasts as long as a $20 one does so I'm happy with that. I've gotten my hair cut there a few times. I've never been happy except once which is the most recent time. I decided I would give them one last chance and I asked specifically for an "advanced" student which is one close to graduating. She managed not to mess it up and I finally got a cut I was pleased with. My husband always gets his hair cut there but his is a simple single length buzz so it's kind of hard to screw that up so he's always happy. It's students doing haircuts, if you want it to be perfect don't go to a school. If you check their facebook you can watch for deals for things like manis, pedis, facials, eyebrow waxing and save a whole lot of money over going to other, more expensive salons. read more

I've been going to this school since 1978 which was pretty much when they started business. I am male and get only haircuts. The price then was $3.00, The price has gone up some, but I still pay only $3.50 on Tuesdays 36 years later. They wash my hair first, then do the cutting primarily with scissors and use an electric haircutter to finish up. One of the staff has to inspect it to make sure it was what the customer wanted and that it satisfied the school's requirements as well. I would also add that I believe people come to write reviews when they've had a bad experience and are not necessarily representative of all customers. Don't waste your time. I arrived for my appointment 5 minutes early and checked in. Then I sat and waited for 25 minutes in a practically empty waiting area while the hostess chatted up with new customers who were shown right back. We made eye contact several times, but never did she try to apologize for the wait time or assure me that I wouldn't be waiting much longer. I finally approached the desk and asked her to just cancel my appointment since I had been waiting so long and all she said was "Oh I'm sorry, what's your name? " No explanation of why and made no attempt to better the situation. I would have been patient and understanding if the hair stylist was still with another customer, but since she offered nothing but an I'm sorry and didn't even remember my name (the only person in the waiting room). I think it's safe to assume that that was not the case. This is simply a case of you get what you pay for - or haven't yet paid for. I will be taking my business elsewhere to a place that values their customers. read more
