I like this Mountainland Cosmetology school. The students are friendly and get all their hair services passed off by a supervisor. Pricing is as I would expect at a cosmetology school. Atmosphere is school-like while offering all types of services from hair, nails, and more. The only complaint I have is the shampoo wasn't completely washed out of my hair. She didn't do a very good job rinsing my hair. Not a big deal, I just rewashed and rinsed my hair when I got home and realized it was goopy from the shampoo residue. read more

My daughter is in the cosmetology program. I graduated from Paul Mitchell The School in the year 2000. I have been extremely shocked by my daughters experience in school. The price is amazing and the instructors are good. The requirements of the program are entirely out of control. When I went to school, we showed up, had class, and took clients. We had to do a certain number of hours and a certain amount of each service to complete the program. At MTECH, my daughter has SO MUCH HOMEWORK. She spends an absurd amount of time studying, doing online work, and taking tests. She was expected to complete perfect, flawless, TIMED haircuts and PERMS in her first months of school. On what planet should an inexperienced student be timed ?!!! She is attending night school her senior year of high school. It feels like she's in medical school with the amount of work she is doing. She's not even getting hours for all of the studying and homework she does outside of school! She writes essay after essay and I'm just in shock because all I had to do was hair on clients during school hours. In the course she is currently in, every single student is on a student success plan which means no one was able to complete the course. But it doesn't ever occur to the school that there's a problem with the course! There have been tests she has failed multiple times because she has to know the names of all the bones in the ankle and other ridiculous facts????? ‍‍‍ I am just baffled. So much for cosmetology school being for dumb blondes. I'm pleased that they have made it structured and are trying to thoroughly educate the students, but it is outrageously over the top. My daughter is extremely organized and hard working. She is just barely surviving this. About half of her orientation class either dropped out or have been dismissed, that's how tough it is. I listen to her rant about the next unreasonable demand placed on her by the school every single week. It is draining. Whoever organized this program needs some Prozac or something. read more

Hair school is legit. I had a perm done here a few months ago and I loved how it turned out! My stylist was very attentive and professional even when my baby sitter canceled and I had to bring my 5 month old with me. Would definitely recommend that you go here read more

Look into their job placement rates and you will know exactly why they get a 5 star rating. The campus is beautiful and conducive to tranquility and learning. The fields they offer courses in are relevant and in demand. Faculty is constantly meeting with business from around the area to find out what they want to see in their prospective employees and MATC caters their courses to meet their needs. In house cafeteria is excellent. With a cook to order menu and a culinary art program staffing the place, it is just great. read more

I really recommend the commercial truck driving program here in Lehi Utah. Most affordable and best instruction in Utah. I passed everything and even got all my endorsements. Was instructed on a 10 speed truck. I am now getting calls right and left for job opportunities. Just comes down to choosing the right one. There are a ton of jobs in the trucking industry both local and OTR. $3000 for a 50K-100k+ job is an awesome deal. read more

I attended the Cosmetology course in Lehi and would not recommend. The instructors were VERY improfressional and would gossip to students about actual clients and the teaching is very poor! I know this was a cheaper school but I don't feel like it's even worth the program cost. Not a fan of this school! read more

The girls helping me and my party put did a good job For students. I expected students to be doing the work and was fine with them "practicing" on us. But the office and front staff was terrible. I was late and let them know I was having a hard time finding the college. Got there 15 min late and they hummed and hawed trying to reschedule me and when I let them know that I would still like the same appointments they took another 15 min getting set up cutting my appointment short because I was late. I would go again for a cheap pedicure with my daughters but be sure not to be late! The girls pay to be there, the college gets paid by the patrons and it seems everyone looses out except them. read more

I went to the cosmetology school several times and had a good experience. The students were wonderful. Sadly my last experience turned me completely off. The supervisor/teacher was unprofessional (took a walk in over my appointment and unkind. She was teaching her students very poor customer service. I can't talk myself into going back regardless of who asks me to (students I know) or how much money I can save. read more

MATC college is amazing. They let high school students come and get ahead of the game by getting college credit. There are also courses in things that I haven't found in other schools or colleges, like welding. It is a great atmosphere and a fun place to learn. I'm a fan. read more

Took the Digital Media class for two years and even though it was a good class for getting exposure to the technology field, it was horribly structured. Most of the lessons on canvas were links to YouTube videos that would teach us stuff rather than the teacher actually teaching. The teacher would give a 30min lecture every class but rarely was it even applicable to the course. Most of the time there wasn't even enough curriculum to fill my time in class so many times I was left with nothing to do, but got in trouble when I found other things to fill my time like watching movies or working on homework from my other college courses. Also I felt like I wasn't treated as an adult during my time there, just felt like being in high school. read more

If I could give it half a star, I would! My daughter was on a limited budget and her regular hair stylist had just had a baby. She was having her engagement pictures taken in two days. She needed all over color and a full head of foils. She was booked with a junior/senior student and was told this girl was "really good with color". When it came time for the appointment, my daughter was given to someone else. Her hair color was absolutely horrible! She came home with brassy color, about 4 inches of roots showing through the color and it was terribly uneven. I didn't want to say anything because I didn't want her to feel bad especially since she was having such important pictures taken. She finally broke down and said how she hated it and how horrible it looked. I called the school and spoke with a director. She promised that they would take care of everything and that my daughter would be given to their best student. I set the appointment and my daughter, already trying to save her pennies, took the time off of work. When we got there the lady behind the desk was just plain rude. I quietly explained what had happened and she immediately became defensive. She said this was a school and that people were learning. I agreed that they were but I was troubled by the instructors that would pass off such an obviously poor job. she said that they "can't check every foil.". I asked her if it made sense to see such bad work right on the front of my daughters head and then assume that the rest of the job was quality. She offered to "fix" it but kept saying that it didn't look "that bad". Of course it didn't, my daughter had spent 4 days using a violet toner to cut back on the brassy red...she had asked for "summer blond". She sectioned her hair and admitted that there were obvious mistakes. She was so insistent that "we do good work here" in spite of a glaring contradiction on my daughter's head. She was unwilling to uphold the offer previously given and frankly, didn't even bother to check with any of their instructors. I told her no thank you for the repair job after all and we walked out. I spoke w/ my next door neighbor and she told me she had a similar experience. My advise to you, Review Reader, is to run as fast and as far away as you can from MATC Cosmetology! read more

I was very impressed with the college at first. It was a great opportunity for getting a degree quickly. Unfortunately, some of the instructors think they are still in high school and it's a popularity contest. It seems it matters more on who they like and less on helping people succeed. The same rules do not apply to all students. I would hope that not all departments are this way, but the EMT department is! Stay away. read more

The programs are very disorganized. I am taking the pharmacy technician program at the Spanish Fork Campus. They didn't have a teacher for our class for 4 months. Then it came for us to buy our books and they didn't have them in stock until the 3rd week in to our class. So we started 4 months from when we were supposed to and they didn't have the correct supplies. I was never informed of the class starting later. I heard trough the grapevine that we didn't have class. On top of it all the students are teaching themselves on everything. We have gone over a couple PowerPoints in class but that is it. The instructor sits there and complains about canvas and everything that someone does. He asks one table if they understand what is going on in the book, but ignores the rest of the class. Nothing here is up to date and there isn't enough supplies for the class to use. There is also broken supplies so we can't properly be trained. I have learned more at my internship than I have learned in my actual class. I would not recommend MTECH for anyone. Very disorganized and they didn't try to improve on anything that I have told them. read more

I applied to the LPN program and was accecpted. After three months of attending the program I was forced to withdraw. I did not have bad grades and I attended every class. The only reason why I am posting this is so that future students of the program will know what they will be getting into. I am not the only one they let go from the program. It is very unfortunate situation I found myself in. They told me that they treat this like your job. The only problem with their idea is that you as a student will take all the risk the company (school) took none. I did get a partial refund but the other student did not get any. No one is looking out for the students or students interest. They have no checks and balances. There is not a true appeals process because the person in charge has their hands in the whole process. The best advice for me to give anyone who is thinking of applying is save your money for a school that will give you a conducive learning environment. read more
