This business is highly unprofessional. They make you wait multiple weeks for an appointment, unless like a friend of mine, they told her if she gave an extra $50 they could make the appointment next week. I live in Eureka my furnace has not been working, it turns out the heating ducks need to be replaced plus my furnace has other things that need replacement parts. Everyone is nice at the business except for Heather who answers the phone. The first person who came to my house was very nice but dumb he did not leave any notes that's what needed to be done. He called Heather in front of me told her what needed to be done and she made the appointment 4 from that date. When main guy came out he said he didn't know why he here, The first guy did not right notes, and the secretary in the office also failed to write any notes about my home. When I told him everything about the old ductwork and the dirty furnace he claimed to call my landlord in his van but said he could not get through, & made another appt. five weeks from that day. Heather called me said they have the approval for the price even confirmed my appt and we all were again left freezing in our house with space heaters that ran our electric bill up over $400 each month we have been waiting. Finally the day came when everything was supposed to get done they show up three hours late to my house only to say they didn't know why they were here and never ordered any of the pipes and no one got the landlords approval --which they told me over the phone through Heather that the landlord did approve the ductwork and the price for it. Two of us have intense medical conditions that cannot tolerate the cold, three of us are disabled in this house and we still have not had the heating problem fixed because Evans Machanicall says that things were not done correctly on their part. Maybe I should send them our high electric bill for the many times they failed to do their job correctly. Do not be fooled by previous reviews of fast workers who did the job great because I did not know about this website until my neighbor told me. Every person I've heard complaints of this company does not know about yelp do not hire them for anything. read more

Evan's Mechanical is one of the best companies with whom I've ever had the pleasure of working in Humboldt County. If I could give them ten stars, I would. Everyone associated with the installation of my new heating system was professional, courteous and conscientious about the job. All the employees are clearly customer service oriented. I began with the $97.00 diagnostic process which was necessary to determine the next step. I then met with Joe Tanno for a comprehensive consultation regarding options for purchasing a new heating system. I opted for the installation of a new Bryant 95% efficiency rate furnace which included having all the heating ducts cleaned and checked, and finally having the pipes beneath the house wrapped and insulated. They did an awesome job in all three categories. l love my new heating system!! For pet owners, this is worth noting: I was especially impressed and appreciative with how conscientious and careful everyone was with ensuring the safety of my dog. Never once did anyone fail to close the dog gate behind them when entering or leaving the house. (and they went in and out that gate many, many times throughout the job). Thank you. I want to thank the professionals at Evan's Mechanical for making my house safer, cleaner, and more efficient. I them to have my heater ducts cleaned and to safety check my 40 year old heater. The crew found a crack in the heat exchanger, potentially allowing carbon monoxide to escape into our home. They used a camera to show me the crack and called out Joe Tanno to talk with me about options. We chose a new heater and made arrangements for its installation in a few days (on Saturday!). When the new heater was turned on for testing, it sounded like we were in a wind tunnel; very loud. We used it over the weekend and called on Mon. and spoke with Joe. He came out the as soon as possible and proposed modifications to the duct system that would reduce the noise. It involved moving the air return away from the heater and adding an additional air chamber. I was skeptical that the modifications would reduce the noise enough to correct the problem. The crew worked all day to make the modifications and when they tested the heater, we could barely hear it. Joe knew what the problem was and how to fix it. He was knowledgable, always helpful and pleasant, as were the crews. A job well done! read more

For over 40 years, We've heated our house by burning wood in a wood burning stove. Finally, my wife and I decided it was time to try another source as we couldn't rely on our continuing ability to chop wood and build fires. So we went to Evans Mechanical and we weren't disappointed. We talked to Joe T and, on examining our house, suggested that we install a "heat pump." It was exactly what I was interested in. He arranged a time for us and method of payment that fit nicely into our financial situation. On the day of installation, he arrived with Justin and Ben, the installers, and they did the job in a matter of a few hours. Whenever they had questions about the house, they would ask me. My sons told me about this site. Even though there has been miscommunication between some of the workers and getting our heating fixed, after talking with I think her name was Rachel, they had all the ducts and supplies including a new appt within one day. Yeah! Hours after the above comment: I'm adding to the review because I don't know how to do a new one for the same business. The business is unbelievably great. The old heating ducts were torn, ect and laying on the attic floor. Two vans and several workers have been working on replacing the old ductwork. They took apart the furnace and saw massive amounts of dust clumps. They made sure this old furnace is working great. And even though our carpet is old and will be replaced soon, I was so surprised to see they had put down carpet runners to protect the flooring. The crew from Evans Mechanical cleaned all of my ductwork, taped and replaced the insulation, and installed a new Bryant furnace. They did all of this in one day, a Monday, after I accepted their bid the Friday before! From start (the estimate) to finish (the clean up), these guys are first class. Everything was conducted in an open, professional manner. I knew exactly what I was getting, had choices presented, and knew all of the costs up front. My friends who also own an HVAC company looked at Evan's bid, and although it was not the lowest, they said "definitely go with these guys". And they are Lennox dealers! While I was having my old house sprayed for boring beetles, I had a sewer line clog with water that came up through my toilet and sink. What a mess! Called Evans Mechanical and they were just awesome. Professional and very responsive to my needs: Curtis and Joe came out quickly, assessed the situation, and worked with me in every way possible to help fix the situation and help me keep costs to a minimum. They did a super-clean job replacing pipe and adding a cleanout. What really impressed me was they even reinstalled the new vapor barrier I had just laid down under the house that had to removed to replace 20 feet of very old pipe! Justin came out to take a look at my furnace - it suddenly stopped working while I was doing a backsplash tile job in my kitchen. I had to turn off the electricity in order to work around one of the outlets. When I turned the electricity on again, the thermostat did not come on. Justin asked me a lot of questions about what/why I had been done just before the issue with the thermostat. Honestly, I was thinking what does this have to do with my furnace...Justin immediately diagnosed the problem and everything was working perfectly in just minutes. I want to say what an excellent job Evans Mechanical does. I have used them numerous times and they have been courteous and speedy and have always done superb work. Every technician I've dealt with has done excellent work. Curtis Smith in particular has always been spot on; definitely one of the BEST plumbers in Humboldt! "Thanks Evans!" and "Thanks Curtis!" Normally in life you can get fast & good service but it'll cost you; fast & reasonably priced but the service is lacking or reasonably priced & good service but it takes forever. Had a tankless water heater installed, was misinformed as to what to expect, first complaint. But the real problem with the work they did came months after the install. The old hot water pipe was caped off with a Shark cap, it popped off after about 6 months to a year, I replaced it, that popped off after another 6 months or so, then another, same thing. It's my opinion that this is a bad way to do it. Now at plumber wages to fix it would cost me over $100, to fix a flaw that should have been avoided. read more
