I found Mike's on Yelp and was impressed with their website. If I was gonna drop my boots off to get fixed up, I needed a place that takes boots seriously, and this is it. I took a before photo and after photo. I spilled Windex on my boots that left an ugly stain. When I brought them in, I was told two weeks and he asked if I wanted anything else done besides taking care of the stain. I asked his recommendations and he pointed the heels (under) were worn down and that he could take care of some of the scratches on the front near the toes. Two weeks would be tomorrow but I figured I'd see if they were ready. The phone number went to voicemail and it gave clear instructions to contact by text for questions and that hours on Google Maps is accurate. I didn't receive a response by text so I decided to head to the store. He was actually putting the finishing touches on my boots at that moment. Brother felt alive again! I am pleased with the final product I will come back for future needs I do recommend I paid about $75.00 up front and I feel pretty dang good to have my swag back read more

This is the place to go if you need a pair of Birkinstocks resoled or fixed. I wish I had picture of before and after. I had a well worn pair of Boston Birkinstock's, nice and broken in, the soles were worn almost to the cork. Now they look new, but they still have the broken in comfort that make Birkinstock so special. I am so happy that I found this place! I will be using Mike's for all my Birkenstocks repair needs. Needed a leather bag repaired and I picked the right place! They estimated about a week and texted when it was complete. I brought in my backpack that had a broken strap. He replaced leather and fixed it up and also reinforced the other side (without me asking, so nice!) He did a great job repairing and it was very reasonably priced ($15 for the fix) Glad he was able to fix my bag so I am able to use it again! read more

This place is absolutely a must for me. I have used them for many projects. They sewed my kid's letter on their letter jackets. I have had them replace zippers in several of my fav coats, including leather and down. Most recently I had them replace the heel dowels in several my of shoes and boots, greatly prolonging the lifespan of the shoe. Their prices are very reasonable. $15 to recap heels. $40 to put in a new zipper. Their hours of operation can be variable so call ahead to make sure they are open. You drop off your item and they will call when it's ready. In a time where reducing your physical footprint on earth is important to our environment, it's a fabulous way to repair rather than toss and buy new. Very old discontinued Red Wing boots dried out and I took them in for minor improvement. It was suggested to to have them re-soled. Expensive and I delayed but took them in. The advice was terrific! Boots are comfortable and look good. Thank you Mike's. read more

Brought in a pair of Steger Mukluks that were 20+ years old. Very unique soles with a squishy bottom and it was completely coming off, but the boots (not the soles) were in great shape. Mikes Shoe Repair has been here for decades. That shows you how good they are. I had a zipper replaced on my leather jacket. Wow! What a great price! The shoe repair place in Burnsville (R J's) wanted over $100.00 to replace the zipper. Mikes charged me $40. It was a pleasant surprise being as I didn't ask the price when I brought the jacket in. Also, and probably the most important, they were friendly and almost apologetic telling me it'd be close to two weeks to get the zipper replaced. They had it done in a week. read more

If you care about your footwear (and, let's be honest, you should), buying the highest quality you can afford and maintaining it in peak condition will be important to you. There is an adage about mattresses and shoes being the two things that you should shop for while ignoring the price. I agree! Finding a cobbler who does excellent work is far harder than it should be and when I do, I do my best to keep them employed. The first time through, I had a pair of Matterhorn boots needing to be re-soled and a pair of casual, leather, Ecco shoes that had some seams needing repair. To say the least I was a little anxious. I'd had the boots for nearly 25 years and worked them hard. The Ecco's have traveled extensively - from climbing the Great Wall in Beijing, to strolling the streets of Paris and many more in between. Both are like old friends with stories to share! Mike did a superb job with both and did it in a very timely fashion and at a price point that was (surprisingly) reasonable. Let's do some math for a moment - if you are having a serviceable pair of quality footwear repaired, plan to pay at least half the cost of a new pair when having them repaired. Frankly, I would *much* rather have a worn-in pair of shoes that are, for all intents and purposes - new, than a brand new pair that I have to break in. Plus, when you really sir down to think about it, you'll have even more incentive and budget to seek out the highest quality shoes -whether they be dress, work, or casual. Too many people fall into the trap of buying cheap and often when they would be far better served and happier if they'd simply thought it through and purchased quality. I guarantee you will not be disappointed when you buy and maintain a to quality pair of shoes. Barring abuse, your shoes should easily last for decades. It is much cheaper in the long run to simply buy the best you can find and maintain them. So, it's been several months since I had this work done (I wanted to be certain that my impression was correct - it is!) and I have been thrilled with the quality and durability of Mike's work. Since then, I have referred friends and family with at least a couple of dozen more pairs of all kinds of footwear (from stilettos to work boots) and heard nothing but compliments about the service here. I am pleased give Mike's my strongest recommendation. Finding this gem has been a real relief! read more

Excellent service. Took my Dooney & Bourke nylon purse in that had a triangular bite taken out of it by my little dog leaving a triangle flap of fabric hanging there. They sewed it up, under the lining so you can't see it from the inside. Looks great. No one will notice it and for $10 I have my $200 purse back. I brought a pair of my wife's ankle boots in as well as a beat up pair of my own boots to Mike and was super impressed with the results! My wife's boots needed new heels and he replaced them and matched the color of the paint perfectly. My boots were pretty beat up, as they needed new insoles, a polish, and new soles completely. I brought them into a different shop to get the heels replaced last year and they wouldn't stay on. Mike made these things solid and back to brand new. It wasn't cheap, but the result saved me buying a new pair of boots that didn't look as cool as the ones I have now. Can't put a price tag on quality. Highly recommended! read more
