1 have a 1965 Pontiac lemans which I drove to Evan's for Tires. The wait was almost 4 hrs for the install. That car has hub caps the valve stems they put in were so short that the hubcaps had to be removed for service. The next morning the car had a flat left front tire. At this time upon my return they fixed the tire and replaced valve stems. Unfortunately the valve stems were again to short. I had ask that the old spare tire be replaced with one of the road tires due to age. This did not happen they promised another tire it never happened. Also at highway speed the car has a pronounced vibration. I have given up with them and will go elsewhere. read more

This store is under new management and it is very apparent! I've been an Evan's Tire customer since I moved to San Diego 12 years ago and have used different stores, including this one. I don't know what they did, but the vibe here is totally different now. The store looks clean, inviting, and organized. The customer service has completely changed and is 100% positive now! I came in just to get a price on tires and the Manager Ritchie and the salesman Simón were so nice and helpful! Then when we got down to what was available, I was offered the tires I wanted at a GREAT price; I couldn't pass it up. I was served immediately and even did the oil change using a 50% off coupon! I had a recent issue on the freeway where my front tires were vibrating really badly. Apparently a common issue with my car (Ioniq 5) is the foam insulation inside the tire can come loose causing a massive vibration. I assumed that's what was happening here so I took it my car to this location and explained what I believed to be the issue and if they could remove the insulation. It's a fairly simple process apparently. Instead, I was assured that was not the issue and that it was due to damage on my front right tire. My tire had a tiny cut that in no way would have caused my issue. I declined service and went down to Discount Tire, they removed the foam and my issue has been resolved. Seems this location was only interested in making a sale for 2 expensive tires I didn't need. Don't bother with this location. read more

I'll start off by stating as a former owner of an auto-repair franchise myself, my intent was not to bash this shop. But, I have waited for the shop to reach out to try and make things right, and had no follow-up so I thought it best to share my experience so others can benefit from it. Three weeks ago on Saturday I called the shop then took my car to the shop and met with Eric (shop owner/manager). I didn't know at the time what his role was. He wanted to confirm the tire size before ordering. Four tires plus alignment, $2,400 later I was told tires would arrive Monday - perfect for my schedule, I paid for the tires in advance. Monday morning I received a call from someone working at the shop, I don't recall his name - nice guy. He told me the shop was slow and the timing was good so they could take the time with my car. When I arrived he told me they would keep the car inside overnight since I couldn't return until Tuesday, I dropped off the car walked home. Tuesday morning I walked back to the shop, arrived a little almost 8:30 AM, they open at 7:30 - I figured they would have settled down from the early birds by then. I was greeted at the front desk by Josh. I stated I was there to pick up the M3, he responded by telling me he had "just arrived and didn't know anything about that car". I could see the car from the front desk, the shop had been open for almost an hour, there's only 3 or 4 bays, how do you not know what the status of the cars left overnight is if you are working the front desk? Drove less than 1.5 miles home, tires rubbed. I could hear and feel the tires rubbing. I waited until Thursday, hoping I could catch Eric working again since I had already experienced Josh's customer service. I got lucky and spoke with Eric, explained what happened, that I was not driving the car around and that I was going out of town. Eric told me no problem, bring it in when you come back to El Cajon. A week later I call the shop, Eric remembers me, tells me to bring the car back - agree I will be by following Monday (Dec 19th) at 7:30 AM. I arrived few minutes after opening, Josh is working the front desk and informs me Eric won't be in until after 9:00 AM. He goes on to tell me "Eric said he ordered the same size tire you had on", it's a BMW issue. I point out that yes, we ordered the same size tire, they were not rubbing before the new tires were installed, I did not change the suspension in any way, and they were rubbing on the short drive home so it wasn't due to any excessive use. Josh restates that I "will need to take it up with BMW". I pointed out that it wasn't a BMW issue, and that I understood he didn't want to deal with the problem but the car/BMW was not the issue. Josh's response was "I don't know what to tell you, we installed the same size tires". Rather than teach Josh some manners I left and drove home - tires rubbing the short drive home. I figured I would hear back from Eric when he didn't see my car since we had agreed to meet. It's now Saturday, December 24th - CRICKETS. So, my advice, avoid this shop, and definitely avoid going when Josh is working. read more

I made the mistake of getting a three-year alignment warranty through Evan's tire. Every time I have been there and made an appointment. My vehicle has not been put into the bay to start any work consistently after an hour and a half of waiting. When asked why bother making an appointment if they are not going to start working on my vehicle at that time. I have always been given the excuse that they are shorthanded. To make things worse their "new guy" scratched the crap out of my wheels when removing the lug nuts, and additionally scratched my wheels significantly while removing the old tire balancing weights from the interior of the wheels from the outside of the wheel with a screw driver or a file from what it looks like. . Additionally, I watched them pull my truck into the Lift bay without the ramps properly attached to the lift, and they basically bashed my truck into the flat surface of the lift as the ramps slid out of place. I then watched the old tweaker dude try to reattach the ramps for about 20 minutes before they could get my truck onto the lift. I have not once had a good experience there with any of the employees in the 3 times that I have been obligated to get there. If I could get my money back for the 3 year alignment and take my business elsewhere. I would. read more

Evans Tire has always been a great place to deal with. I have been taking my vehicles to one of their shops for 30+ years. I have always been taken care of when it came to discounts and coupons without having one or asking. The Jamacha shop in El Cajon for some reason the last two trips has not offered the oil change coupons and partially my fault I forgot to ask. The Magnolia shop has always offered. So my advise to you is to use Evans tire and go in with pricing from Discount as they will beat the price and ask for any and all discounts. read more

Do not! I repeat Do not take your vehicle here for repair. I was quoted $700 by them for a motor mount replacement then $500 after I told them other places charged me less. Would you like to know how much multiple places quoted me a whopping $160 for the same exact service ready in two hours from a reputable 4 1/2 star place more stars than they have . They will quote you a high price and if you agree with it, they go with that if you complain, they'll drop it anywhere from $100-$300 on the amount of the quote. I regret taking my car here for eight years. I could've saved tens of thousands not just thousands. don't take my word for it. Just call around after you get a quote from them and you will see what I mean. Hope this helps someone. read more

Following is a review I sent directly to Evans Tire on Jamacha Road on April 9th, 2024. I've been a customer for more than ten years. It's also the reason for primary repairs I go to my Allman Family Auto. There's simply no comparrison between the service I get w Mike compared to the inconsistancy people get with Evans. Tires and oil changes is the most Evans can expect from me in the near future. The reality is you don't need to push services on customers because every car needs maintenance at some point and parts wear out. If you're consistant and honest, people will keep coming back. Below is my review and their response and here's an update. I initially took my car in for 1. oil change 2. Tire leak repair. The service writer spent so much time on the laundry list of repairs needed, I still have to take the car somewhere to repair the tire leak. My wife just called and the tire monitoring light came on. Original review: "The staff is always friendly. This will review two invoices, #98216 (4/28/23)and #104169. (4/9/24) Today, I came in for an oil change when, competed they gave me A list of items needing my attention. (Pretty standard practice in this industry. One of today's items needing correction is the engine valve cover- (leaking. )I looked at last year's invoice, and It was replaced on 4/28/23. It's also strange that I paid Far less last year than today's quoted price. Today, I was quoted $450.00, and last year I paid 271.99) Invoice #98216 has items to consider, struts and shocks. Today, that list, #104169, totaled over $3700 dollars. It's possible these new items were present a year ago and missed. Or maybe in the last year or 15k miles, these items failed. Which invoice should I trust? The last question is, that based on these discrepancies, why would I have Evans complete the repair? First off I must say employees here are very nice and knowledgeable about cars. However there is a disconnect on what the consumer wants. I actually chatted and told the person I needed to come in the next day for 4 new tires however the next day I was told they have to be ordered and wait another day? So I went with a different tire and a little cheaper. Please whoever you talk with be very clear about which store, tire and time your coming in. Three months ago I booked an appointment online, Evans had an offer that they would refund $25 from your bill if you booked an appointment online. I got home and saw that I was not given a refund. I called the store on Saturday and they said come in on Monday and you can talk with the manager. The store is a 30 minute drive for me. They would not offer anything else. Today I went back to get an alignment and the manager said there were no notes about this and "it was three months ago" as if that was an excuse. Enough is enough!!! 1472 Jamacha Rd El Cajon CA 92019 I'm a 12+ year customer. The one thing I'm going to say right away is BRING JJ BACK!!! Never did I have an issue at this location when JJ was the Manager here, the new Manager who took over and is now in maternity leave is also a great Manager and never had issues with her either. Here's my story... I dropped my vehicle off on Tuesday, October 4th at 7:30 AM, I was the very first person in line and the very first person to get helped. I was assisted by a short built, light skin, Mexican guy with tattoos all over his arms, I think Cuevas. He promised that my car would be ready at the end of the day. Dropped my car off for an oil change, tire, rotation, tire balance and alignment. I specifically told the guy that I was dropping it off early so that I can have it back at the end of the day, because I was tired that every time I would drop my vehicle off before, they would call me right before they close to tell me they need to keep it overnight. On Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at 6:30 PM. The same guy called me to tell me he was working on my car himself and that he was almost done and was going to have it ready tonight. I told the guy DO NOT rush the work, do it right and I'll pick it up tomorrow. He replied by saying, "OK, thank you, come pick it up first thing in the morning when we open, it will be ready". On October 5, 2022, I was not able to pick up the vehicle when they first opened because I was hold up in meetings at work. I called at 10:30 AM on October 5, 2022 and the car was still not done. The same guy told me that the drain plug was not able to come out and that he didn't want to start the oil change until the replacement drain cap came in (which he now had) and that he was going to have the vehicle ready by 2pm. **Please note that on October 4, 2022 on my 6:30 PM call he told me the oil change was done**. I showed up at 2pm on October 5, 2022 to pick up the vehicle and the lady Sharey or Sheryl or whatever her name is, told me NOTHING was done to the car....not to mention all the grease they left inside my car, dirty!!! Did I mention they played with my navigation system, see picture. 1. This employee (who should be fired) lied to me several times about my car being done 2. This lady had his back and altered the paperwork saying I "refused" service, really? I DID NOT. They did this to cover their backs 3. So obvious, really obvious some shiity things are going on with these two and the Manager. Look at my photos and see ALL the complaints, repetitive patterns and the Manager is not doing anything. As a Marine and former Law Enforcement employee, I can 110% see how these people are lying to customers to lure them in so the location can make their sales goals....but doesn't take a genius to figure this out. They need to be investigated and I will make sure and do everything in my power to make sure this location gets investigated. NEVER in my Military career had anyone lie to me like that. My next reviews will be the BBB, Twitter, Facebook and everything I can find and will escalate as needed. I hate to see people get used and I WILL NOT stand on the sidelines. read more

Went for new tires because Discount tire was slow and didn't have the tires I needed. I thought these guys were better at working on your car but also sold tires; they seem to know a lot more than just tires. I thought the pricing was similar to Discount tire, I bought continental tires for an Alfa Romeo Giulia Ti, they are excellent, ride well and corner great. Do not EVER buy tires from this company!!! 50,000 mile tires lasted 19,000 miles and they would give NO credit for new tires. The tires were BALD!!!!! You get what you pay for!!!!! My cars steering or alignment was pulling to the right too much and called and asked if they did alignments , thankfully they were close and cost efficient, no less than 15 mins got it fixed and they even broke it down for me to know what exactly was wrong and which parts were loosening , even helped me out by printing out a chart of my alignment and would definitely come back if I ever need a service again . I had Evan's do my front brakes (pads & reface rotors) in August 2023 and they broke a wheel stud! Also, it's January 2024 and I'm already having issues with the brakes even though I don't drive the vehicle long distances and am gentle on my brakes. I paid $600+ for service that I'm not sure I even got. Did they even reface my rotors or did they just clean them and charge for a refacing? Don't trust them! read more

Even when a customer was being rude and unnecessarily aggressive towards him he kept his composure and professionalism throughout the interaction. Very friendly and engaging with customers as well. (At the 1445 N Magnolia Ave address) the service was good at the time This week one of my sensors went bad and my truck started shaking at 50mph . I called the Magnolia location ... I got the blow off, didn't care about my issue, customer service was terrible!! I called the 1472 Jamacha Rd and right away the person that answered the phone was responsive and 180 degree different from my first contact .. She got all my info and encouraged me to be at the shop early. I was there this morning as they opened.. the counter staff was AWESOME !! Handled all my issues !! I came in as a walk-up early in the morning right at opening and the staff were already hard at work banging out the people who had beat me to the shop. The entirety of the staff were accommodating and helpful throughout this process. I asked for deals and coupons, they helped and I got deals and coupons. I asked (probably dumb) beginner questions about tires, they helped and I got great answers and didn't make me feel like an idiot. Tires were a lot more expensive than I remember, but so is everything else nowadays after the pandemic and everything else going on in the world. I had a couple things done to the car and the garage boys were relatively quick with it compared to other places I've been to. Overall pleasant and great experience at a tire shop, a place where things could be potentially very stressful and expensive.
