Sandi and Tony were great hosts, and the room I stayed in was very comfortable. There's enough antiques, pictures, and tchotchkes around the house to keep you busy exploring for quite a while. The B&B is located in a quiet and relaxing area on the outskirts of town, and the porch swings, rocking chairs, and front and back porch give the place a very homey feel. The dining room is beautiful and has a long wooden table that's great for large groups or encouraging interaction, conversation, and community with other guests. The bathrooms are clean, and clean towels were provided. There was a basket full of hair supplies in case you forgot to bring shampoo or conditioner. Sandi was very attentive and helpful if any help was needed with anything. She also is a great storyteller and is very knowledgeable about the area and things to do. Breakfast was amazing. Sausage, eggs, and bacon (crispy, the way it should be!) piled high! I highly recommend Eva's House! Will definitive back! read more

Loved this home-away from home bed and breakfast in Gary, WV. It was our first time here and the hospitality was above my expectations. I felt as though I stepped back in time to my childhood farm homestead. Waking to the sounds and smells of a home cooked breakfast and chatting with the owners as they opened their home to us was so comforting and enjoyable! ATV trails are close by and the affordability of the place makes it a win-win. I would recommend you visit and make this a stay over for your next trip. I know we will! read more

We stayed at Eva's house this past weekend and had a great experience. Both Sandy and Tony will make you feel right at home and the breakfast every morning was delicious. With its closeness to the Hatfield McCoy Warrior trail system, I would recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay. read more

Eva's House is a partially restored Historic Clubhouse from US Steel, built around a century ago and packed with items of interest for history buffs. It was literally true that each room told a story, from the shared bunk bed/lofts used by workers in times of production to the Record Room to the Dining Hall and beyond. As a hotel, I enjoyed my stay, finding agreement with the consensus that it was clean, comfortable and reasonably priced. But it deserves to be thought of as a destination in it's own right, as the artifacts and memorabilia from boom times of decades long past are thought provoking in the extreme. Most in the immediate area know the history of the rise and decline of the coal industry- their uniforms, photographs and tools are still here. Perhaps Eva's House itself might be best thought of as the best hotel to witness the rebirth of the industry that gave middle-class livelihoods to so many before us. It may well transform the surrounding area yet again. It would be difficult to concisely state the gratitude I feel for Tony and Sandy from Eva's House, as Tony literally went the extra mile to guide me in at midnight when my iPhone carrier failed me in unfamiliar territory (thanks, Google). Southern hospitality is no myth; Tony proved it in the real world. I have never felt more welcome, and I will be back. read more

Eva's house in Gary West Virginia is a wonderful place. If you need a nice clean place to stay in McDowell county, this is your place. The ATV trails are there, right there. I love staying there, the house is beautiful and Toni & Sandi make you feel welcome like family. They say you can't go home and you really can't but this is about as close as it gets. The mountains call me home from time to time and I know I can find a place to stay, I'm always planning a trip. I can go to town, to the courthouse to look up records, take a ride to Asco, visit with friends and family, go four wheeling on the outlaw trails (shhhh, don't tell) and then go to my special room (yes, I have a favorite room) and relax. If you like a good country breakfast, you need to meet these folks. They will even pack a lunch or cook dinner for your party group. Don't miss out on this hidden gem. Maybe I'll see you on the mountain. read more

My wife, daughter, a friend and myself stayed there while we were riding 4 wheelers. The stay was amazing and I slept like a baby, which I normally do not do when not at home. Tony and Sandi were so awesome and treated us like family. The breakfast was out of this world and more than all of us could eat. I am staying there Everytime I visit WVA, which is frequent. read more
