    Welcome Center Main Entrance

Probably one of the cleanest Welcome Centers I have seen. Last weekend, I drove to the New River Gorge to take my annual autumn foliage shots. Left Cornelius at 4:30am and stopped in here at around 7:30. Took a bathroom break and an excuse to stretch my legs and I was impressed with the cleanliness of the facility. Dawn was breaking and one gentleman was out sweeping the parking lot and not leaving the least bit of trash. On the inside, a young man was cleaning the men's room and was taking pride in what he was doing. He was bit whipping down the sink, the was polishing it. This was the cleanest restroom I have seen in a long time. Great place to spot. Love the architecture, the care the employees take of it and the pride they put into their efforts makes for a great experience.

7/16 This was one of the nicest facilities I've seen. The bathrooms were very clean and the sinks each had a soap, water, and dryer which was cool - I'd never seen that before (and by the amount of confusion I overheard, I don't think a lot of people had). The staff was so friendly! I think three people offered to help me while I was browsing over the brochures. The best part was the store. It was so nice! Not your typical gas station shot glasses and magnets in the shape of the state. It was a really nice shop with pottery and ornaments and food. This was our first time in West Virginia and we were going to keep driving through so I was happy to get some nice souvenirs. Get out, stretch your legs, grab a brochure or two and spend a little money. :)

This place is a great place to stop and stretch! The staff are very friendly and greet you with a welcoming hello! The restrooms were very clean and updated. There are ample vending machines and plenty of restaurants nearby. This is also a great stop for the Veterans. There is a really nice Vietnam Memorial with a fountain. It's a great place to stop if you have kids.

Sometimes you want a little more than a clean toilet and soft paper. This rest area is a Fantastic Stop. There r cute picnic tables outside in case you brought your own food, their restrooms are clean but there are a thousand cute things to see in the gift shop. We enjoyed seeing the art by west virginia artists, local produce like Honey and peanut butter fudge and there was a lot of pretty Glass work, and small glass sculptures. If you drank too much coffee earlier and need to get off the freeway from a couple minutes, definitely come here rather than a gas station.

Clean bathrooms, lots of brochures for lodging and attractions, a few vending machines, water fountains, and there's a gift shop.

So, made a pit stop here once we saw it was on our path. We visited on a Saturday in June around 3:30 PM. This location is right of off 77, and has a Denny's sharing the space. There is also a Wendy's right next door, so there are a plethora of options for food at this stop. The parking lot is not too big, but this is a smaller location, so it is appropriate for the size of the operation. Traveling with our dog, we are always looking for places to stop where he can get out, use the bathroom, and stretch his legs. This place was perfect for that - there was grass that he could use, and there were picnic tables out front where we could let him drink some water while escaping the car for a little bit. The layout at this Flying J is somewhat unique - the gas pumps are on what appears to be the side of the building, and all of the pumps are under the same roof/in a line with each other. So, it might be hard to get in and out if there are a lot of travelers getting gas or if your vehicle is larger. After we filled our tank, we headed inside to use the facilities and check out the location overall. As stated, it is a smaller location, but they still have restrooms, showers, and the usual amenities for truckers that other locations have. The women's bathroom only had a handful of stalls, so if it were to be crowded there might be a wait. In the retail portion, there was everything you would expect as part of a gas station stop at a Pilot/Flying J. They also had a hot food bar that had a decent variety of pizza and other items for a quick bite. The staff was very friendly - I was greeted and asked if I needed anything while in the retail space. Despite it being a busy time with a lot of customers, they were still providing great customer service. Overall, this is a good place if you are needing a quick stop or to fill up on gas. It is not too large, so you can be in and out quickly, but might not be the best for large vehicles. It has a great deal of retail items, and options for those looking for choices. My only note is that it was not the cleanest in the outdoor area with the tables, but I do not expect a place like this to be spotless.

We always pack a lunch and these tables will be our regular lunch tables when traveling 77/81 to/from Charlotte, Myrtle Beach or the Smokies. The bathrooms are clean. The store is old, but nice. The new coffee makers automatically grind the beans. You read the panel and press the picture for the kind of coffee you want. I chose a small cup of Columbian coffee. Good stop.
