Terrible dentist. Scam artist. Overbills. Says you need treatment that is unnecessary. Stay away from her.

I took both of my kids (ages 6 and 2) to this dentist, and it was one of the most upsetting visits I've ever had. First, the dentist took my 6-year-old son back to start his cleaning but told me I had to wait outside. I didn't feel comfortable with that, but I stayed in the lobby with my daughter for a couple of minutes. Eventually, I walked in because I wanted my 2-year-old to see her brother getting his cleaning and start feeling more at ease. When it was my daughter's turn for her checkup, things escalated quickly. She was in distress, which is completely normal for her age. I told the dentist we could reschedule so she wouldn't feel forced, but instead of showing patience or understanding, the dentist got upset and started arguing with me. She even told me my daughter was "dictating my life." The only suggestion she offered was to make my daughter lie back with her head in my lap, which only made her more uncomfortable. While I was trying to ask for answers and solutions, the dentist went to the lobby and grabbed my 6-year-old son by the arm to escort him out -- without my permission. As a parent, this was completely unacceptable, and I immediately stepped in to get him away from her. Instead of offering compassion, alternatives, or even basic respect, she chose to argue with me, blame me, and then escort all of us out of the office. What makes this even more disappointing is that my daughter has had a tough dental visit before at Super Dentist, but in that case, the dentist was kind, understanding, and tried to talk to her. That showed me the issue is not my daughter -- it's how this dentist handles children. My daughter is well cared for, potty trained since 5 months old, and speaks and understands three languages. She is bright and capable, but this dentist never even tried to talk to her, connect with her, or make the experience better. Instead, she tried to make me feel like a bad mother for protecting my child -- but I refuse to feel horrible for doing what's best for her. Both of my kids left the office with discomfort and fear. I left feeling disrespected and shocked at how unprofessional the entire situation was handled. This dentist has no experience working with toddlers or young children, and I would strongly caution other parents not to bring their kids here.

They get a coin they can insert to exchange for a prize. All smiles has all the essentials of a pediatric dentist, from tvs with Disney movies playing in the lobby and ceiling above the dental chair, to little hygiene gift bags with toothbrushes and toothpaste. They are respectful of health decisions like waiving fluoride, making sure to add notes to your chart proactively so that you don't get asked at every visit. They have an amazing staff! Their office clerk Cynthia made sure the visit went smoothly, Dr Job is personable and attentive and their hygienists are great. One of my children had a dental extraction of a baby tooth that wouldn't budge. The process was smooth and painless for my normally anxious daughter. The shining star of our most recent visit was Danielle! She is so perceptive, kind and caring, she saw my other daughter who wasn't getting her teeth cleaned that day was hoping for a turn at the toy tower and she gave her a coin for waiting nicely. She also gave advice for toothpaste and flosser recommendations in a collaborative fashion which was encouraging and empowering. She listened to concerns we had and was willing to answer questions I had about alternative toothpaste options. 10/10 pediatric dental practice!

Dr. Job and Ms. Danielle handled everything with such attentiveness, kindness, and ease that I have no doubt we'll be coming back to fix the left side as well. I am submitting this complaint to formally report unethical billing practices by the dental office…read moreassociated with a disputed dental charge of approximately $300. I want to be clear that the quality of clinical care itself is not the issue; my concerns relate solely to billing conduct, transparency, and the handling of insurance-related disputes. After receiving care, I submitted the claim to my dental insurance provider. The claim required escalation and is currently under active review by the insurer. This process was communicated clearly and in good faith, and I have documentation, including a claim number, demonstrating that the charge is under legitimate insurance review, not ignored or refused. Despite this: The office pursued payment while the insurance claim was unresolved asking for "just a small payment" while they wait. The matter was escalated to a third-party collector before insurance determination There appears to be no reasonable accommodation for standard insurance dispute timelines There was no transparent explanation of why the bill was deemed immediately collectible rather than pending insurance resolution Patients should not be pressured to pay balances that are actively under insurance review, particularly when the provider is aware that the insurer is evaluating coverage or reimbursement. This practice places patients in an unfair position--either paying out-of-pocket prematurely or being threatened with collections while complying with standard insurance procedures. Further, the billing escalation process appears to lack: Appropriate verification that insurance review was complete Ethical safeguards before referral to collections Clear written communication outlining patient rights during an insurance dispute While I respect the clinicians and the care I received, billing practices are part of patient care and ethical responsibility. Referring a patient to collections under these circumstances undermines trust and may violate professional and consumer standards. I am requesting that this matter be reviewed for: Compliance with ethical billing standards Appropriate handling of insurance-pending balances Policies regarding referral to collections Oversight of third-party billing or collection agents acting on the practice's behalf I am submitting this complaint in good faith to ensure accountability and to prevent similar experiences for other patients. edit: Owner responded - yes, this is for this business Lil Smile Dr. Toppi. I am also a healthcare provider and I know this is 100% unethical. They did send me to collections for $300 while my insurance was escalated. I did pay the $300 (minus paying the "interest fees" - another unethical practice!) while my insurance worked on it out of fear. It is sad way to treat patients and other people deserve to know about these unethical practices.

However, my concern was never about the policy itself only in the beginning. It was about how I was treated during both calls. I felt pressured when trying to reschedule, and when I raised concerns about the receptionist's tone, those concerns were dismissed rather than addressed. Additionally, during my conversation with the manager, Kim, I was repeatedly talked over, not given the opportunity to fully explain my concerns, and the call was ultimately ended while I was still trying to speak. That experience was particularly frustrating and unprofessional. The situation escalated when I was told we were "not a good fit" and denied service after expressing those concerns, which was especially upsetting given that my child was ill at the time. Clear and respectful communication is essential, especially when working with families and young children. I hope this feedback is taken constructively to improve future patient interactions.
